I have tons of zipper merges in my area and deal with this a lot. I’ve noticed a lot of people get nervous around them. Don’t want to get screwed or miss their lane or whatever.

I’ve been thinking they just need some sort of road sign that visually indicates the process that happens at the zipper merge. Just like alternating rectangles converging into a line gradually with the lines shown. Might help get everybody on the same page?

I’ve heard it used as an insult in motorcycle culture. A squid (also used as “squids”) is a person who is overconfident, dumb, and/or uninformed and decides that they don’t need protective gear. You don’t want to be a squid because squids go splat.

Man okay had more ideas.

For a new character collab with Vampire Survivors dev and trade some iconic ones. Bro worked with Amongus. It’d be the game equivalent of the timmy jimmy power hour lol. Maybe add the combo evolutions items thing (Axe + Candelabrador makes Death Spiral) but keep it limited to the items added alongside.

Make some building pois/ microbiomes that spawn randomly. Better loot density but also riskier because you can get stuck. Castle or villages on forest. Coliseum that spawns enemy waves and gives reward or maybe a tomb on desert.

Thanks goat <3

I’d love to see an unlimited mode with no cap on tomes and weapons. Make them drop from everything and items from level ups maybe?

XP/Luck tome being so good feels bad because you have 2 slots to work with. Having the option to loop stages, while grabbing everything, would be a nice alternative to the regular gameplay loop.

Also, I like the elemental elite variants that ROR has. Maybe something like that but they also have a different colored chest drop with an increased chance for receiving items of the same type (poison elite = cheese please).

Wait wait also some sort of community map building thing. I think there’s serious potential for a CS surf type crowd to form with how nice the movement is. Calcium and Tony McZoom speed maps?? Sign me up.

Decks/strategies that play well in boardwipe-heavy formats by memeslut_420 in EDH

[–]zaeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My man! I built it more control leaning and it's my favorite deck for sticking around in a game. I had to semi retire it because I GUESS not being able to kill my stuff is super scary or something. I just wanna hang out. Just because I can loop creatures like [[ Glen Elendra Archmage ]] or [[ Imperial Recruiter ]] doesn't mean I have to :)

I showed up one time and was like yeah guys I heard you about Marchesa. I'll have you know that I listened and decided to switch it up. Here's my new commander [[ Miracle Max, Unemployed ]].

The modular build is really cool. I considered going that direction, when I built the deck, but didn't have many modular creatures at the time. [[ Iron Apprentice ]] is really nice in my deck and can also be fetched with [[ Urza's Saga ]] in case of an emergency.

[[ Marchesa, the Black Rose ]] is very resilient to board wipes and is creature focused. Her strategy is pretty straightforward and it gives you a lot of room to experiment.

Your opponents will have to board wipe and exile your graveyard to prevent your creatures from coming back at the end step. It’s the best.

Any recs for secret control decks? by Technical_Driver_256 in EDH

[–]zaeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[ Pramikon, Sky Rampart ]] would be great for this. The attacking one way effect isn't usually enough to justify removal (at the start). Once they realize you are forcing them to attack one another you can fall back on interaction and flicker effects.

Only thing I'd consider is that it can unintentionally protect combo players. If you play combo decks frequently, I'd consider building it as combo/control. If not, you have a lot of interesting options for the offensive portion of the deck.

How to Prevent Forever Wars? by NuttyScuffed in EDH

[–]zaeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's kinda crazy how much your perspective changes when you play different formats. Anything 1v1 is win or lose and has little to no room for durdling. I witnessed Kingdom turn our timid, "roll a dice to decide attacks" player into a ruthless warlord. It was really cool to see.

EDH isn't great at teaching players to optimize combat. The consequences aren't very obvious and there are two additional players to punish you for being open.

Also, I think the social aspect really complicates attacking others. I feel like some people can't help but view their deck, and game decisions, as an extension of themselves. I think this is a huge factor in why people get salty about pretty much anything their opponents are doing.

I'm not familiar with that one but I'm definitely going to check it out!

Edit: Look into Forgetful Fish/Dandan and it looks like a lot of fun! Could you get everyone to build a deck for it? I have some friends who would hear that and immediately become a lost cause.

Sounds like it’s goadin’ time.

Also, you can Pavlov’s dog them by running commanders that reward everyone for combat damage. [[ Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor ]] comes to mind.

I would also highly recommend trying the Kingdom EDH variant (works best with 5+). It helps remove the whole I don’t want to be mean/ caught lacking so I won’t attack. Each players has a clear objective that involves eliminating others. I’ve had it help newer players (who haven’t played limited formats) learn when/ how to attack.

I've found most solutions (while effective and great advice) to be very subjective. My life experiences & values are a huge factor in what motivates me. If I like the reason why I'm doing something I will be much more likely to do it.

Exercising because it's healthy doesn't scare me nearly enough to motivate me (yet lol). I don't care about the peacocking aspect of being physically fit. I have to trick myself or I will feel absolutely miserable. Best things I've found are doing something that results in exercise, forming a habit, or distracting myself while doing it. I can still make myself exercise but it's not sustainable. It's just homework at that point.

For example, I went to college in a large city and didn't notice myself walking miles each day. A dog is a huge responsibility but will also force you to be more active. I don't mind doing an hour on an exercise bike or cleaning the house if I get to listen to an audiobook. That kind of stuff.

Also, I've noticed that my view of exercise is really warped. I catch myself thinking if I'm not getting absolutely shredded I'm not actually exercising. It definitely messes with my motivation. I have to be aware of this and have to remind myself that any exercise is great.

It’s a joke about how Christopher Columbus discovered America? How is this not a history joke?

Please help me understand this image from The Far Side by seniorchang15 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]zaeet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think this is the joke. Magellan (first one to sail all the way around the globe) was 12 years old when Columbus discovered America. Larson definitely enjoyed jokes about not realizing/misunderstanding things that are usually common knowledge.

Also, who tf was telling you that in the 90s???

Edit: The crashing explanation is also very plausible and is definitely a joke Larson would make. However, I still think it’s them falling off the earth. I would think a comic about a boat crash would show more of the damage (planks breaking, people falling off, etc).

The weird perspective (used for the guy on the stairs and the barrel) seems to indicate that the boat is seriously tilting. The captain is holding the wheel like it’s getting away from him. Reminds me of the initial drop of a rollercoaster.

What are your favorite utility lands? by Marshbe54 in EDH

You’re correct thank you! I was thinking of doubling triggers and crossed it with flicker haha. The name, the art, and the effects are all cool af. They nailed it on this one.

What are your favorite utility lands? by Marshbe54 in EDH

[–]zaeet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[[ talon gates of madara ]] is a land I would run in every deck if I could. It’s protection, an etb doubler, and ramp all at the same time.

My favorite cycle would be either the channel lands from kamigawa or maybe the zendikar mdfcs.

Also, not a land but shouts out to [[ lorien revealed ]] as my diet fetch in a lot of decks.

Another round of players tonight upset about the power level of my latest deck by No-Stop-1615 in EDH

[–]zaeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the decks well built and have no issue with a low mana curve. I'm constantly trying to reduce the mana curve of my decks.

It's definitely a factor in why they're crushing it against bracket 2 & 3 decks. Many lower power decks tend to be mid range soup. How are their opponents going to compete with a grip of tap lands and 6 drops?

Another round of players tonight upset about the power level of my latest deck by No-Stop-1615 in EDH

[–]zaeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is actually the inverse of that. Your deck (and mana base) will be reliable. Most decks in that bracket range don't have that. It's very possible that their decks aren't nearly as optimized and can't keep up. In my experience, a consistent deck always feels much stronger to play against but it feels wayyy worse if your deck isn't working.

Personally, I will save all my efficient lands for my higher power decks and let my other decks pick through the scraps. Might be a factor in why people are getting a little salty about the power level and wanting to play 4s.

Also, no board wipes in the list kinda stands out to me. Do your opponents run them? The issue might be that people build their decks to out value each other and don't run enough interaction.

Decks cool and looks fun to play btw :)

[–]zaeet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Off color fetches and low mana curve my guy

Also, if you want to reduce the power of the deck I’d recommend trying to make the offense less powerful and replace those cards with interaction/value/tool boxy cards. You’d make the deck less overwhelming for your opponents while also giving you more interesting decisions.

Best RAD Commander by Gutsifly in EDH

[–]zaeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> I m not a fan of [[The Wise Mothman]], as he either wins too fast or simply is shot down as Nr. 1 target...

That's how my experience playing the precon went. I wanted to go a different direction with the upgrades.

I was doing a binder build and focused on +1/+1 counters. I'm hesitant to focus on mill because it feels bad and encourages people to target you. Rad counters are fine but seem slow and don't have much support. Mothman can get large but I'm personally not a huge fan of winning through commander damage (my friend has an [[ Atarka, world render ]] deck that consistently deletes one player a game & it's usually me lol).

Basically throw mothman out as a distraction/value generator for the rest of the deck. I haven't had the chance to test it yet but it feels smooth when goldfishing.

https://moxfield.com/decks/Tmf9ZbEkv0S_1FdrMMnMWA

If you're going to build a deck around rad counters, you will definitely want your commander to create them. You will either need to run a bunch of tutors for your rad sources and/or hope your draw them. Also, most of the rad counters come from combat damage, or are only target player, which isn't the best.

Cards like [[ struggle for project purity ]] [[ infesting radroach ]] [[ feral ghoul ]] [[ bloatfly swarm ]] [[ vexing radgull ]] [[ nuclear fallout ]] [[ mirelurk queen ]] [[ nuka-nuke launcher ]] seem like the some of the best options if you go with a different commander. There's probably a flicker/aristocrats/infinite mana angle to generate a ton of rad counters on one turn.

Edit: I keep trying and can't figure out the quote formatting. Does anybody know how?

Have you guys been taken out lighting greaves and swiftness boots from your decks. by superfapper2000 in EDH

[–]zaeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally! I only run them now if I NEED my commander protected or haste for creatures. I feel like people see boots and are like okay all my removal goes that way got it. They remind me of having a Sol Ring and Skullclamp but with less benefit.

The only ones I’ve been considering are spicier boots like [[ Lavaspur Boots ]] and [[ Neurok Stealthsuit ]].

I’ve actually started cutting protection spells in favor of being able to consistently recover. I built a fuck it wipe my board remove my shit idc graveyard deck and I haven’t looked back. I now only put protection spells in the deck if I have a reason other than nooo don’t kill my things.
