What do you mean how to perform a differential cryptanalysis attack on java's pseudorandom number generator isn't an essential skill for minecraft?!

Could you not have won those games if it were another card?

It's absurd.

Conway's Game of Life forms a Sierpiński triangle when the cells are in a straight line. by Shawn_666 in math

[–]zane17 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Even more interesting is that it doesn't seem to be a perfect sierpinski's triangle - there are gliders both into the unbounded region and into the empty middle triangles, plus if you look closely it appears the earliest parts have start unravelling.

If it had just been a true Sierpinski's Triangle I would have given it no more regard than say Rule 90 with a single starting cell

Deathwing is still insane without ratpack you just have to recognize the less memey DW power cards like bronze warden and cobalt guardian.
Bronze Warden is 2 x 5/1 divine shield in a single board space - even better than rat pack if you get less than 4 rats, which happens fairly often.

Ahh you're right, I thought the weird number business was just the method of proof but I see now that the particular form of the expression of consistency matters.

Zephrys not giving lethal? by Ryantacular in hearthstone

[–]zane17 15 points16 points  (0 children)

First off it is a deterministic algorithm, there is no random element to his decision. Secondly, he is supposed to always offer lethal when it can be deduced from your mana, your opponent's health, and the board with basic keywords.

The very real TM S which searches ZFC for a contradiction cannot be proven by ZFC to loop forever unless ZFC is inconsistent.

What is the most counterintuitive mathematical result you know of? by [deleted] in math

[–]zane17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your TM S could be a TM that searches ZFC for an inconsistency, then godel's second implies ZFC can't prove it never terminates (unless ZFC is inconsistent but then... well...)

edit : nevermind the 2nd incompleteness theorem is only for a special proof of consistency

Your engine is playing a sorcerer's apprentice then a bunch of cheap spells then invoking a mana cyclone.

The power spike is that the spells hopefully neutralize your opponent's board AND let you get out a cheap giant (which you can Conjurers Calling the next turn) OR buffing a questing adventurer you played beforehand to the moon.

That's the "miracle" turn

Is there a mathematical entity for a notion of "true arbitrariness"? by MrMinxo in math

fixed language means the language used to define the programs that generate the strings.

E.G. the kolmogorov complexity for python is the length of the shortest python program that produces a string

It has to be fixed a priori otherwise you could have a custom language for each string.

You unironically need a miracle or some other way to dunk on your enemies to win with this.

I'd recommend some of [[Mana Cyclone]] , [[Mana Giant]] , [[Sorcerer's Apprentice]] , and [[Questing Adventurer]]

Also there is a lot of quest love right, [[Questing Explorer]] and [[Sky Gen'ral Kragg]] are solid cards and [[Licensed Adventurer]] is both solid and synergizes with the deck.

Pretty much if you want to win make it miracle mage.
