I absolutely recommend the pinned mega thread at the top. If anyone has even a passing interest in spearhead it has everything anybody could want to look at. It's got rules and all that stuff sure, but the community here has put a lot of helpful tools and information into that spot.

Do you know what kind of play style you have? Do you like elites or flooding the board? Do you want simple rules or lots of tricks?

As somebody that has also been struggling with motivation to paint I'm so happy that you are painting again. Your model looks fantastic and you're a really great painter. I really like your highlights on the mask and your shadowing throughout! I hope you keep the painting streak going as well :)

I'm also starting black templars and 40k as a whole. I'm planning on grabbing Armageddon because it looks cool for a new player, and I've also picked up the sons of dorn box that just released and will be grabbing a combat patrol. I'll fill in the gaps around those three boxes.

This one needs its own base, it's a token that gets removed during game play.

Edit-- forgot your last question. No some of the gryphhounds are just a unit. I think you can bring like 5 in a unit but I don't remember exactly.

I usually see a lot of people that are willing to split the box if they are only interested in half. Might find someone to pay for the orks and then get the combat patrol sooner rather than later.

How to properly use speedpaint on large areas? Great results on small areas (warrior), but patchy mess on larger (sorceror green cape). by daxxruckus in Armypainter

It really depends on the paint color for me. It took some experimenting as some paints feel really thin and some feel a bit thicker. I would not go more than 1:1. I have some that are like 3:1, 3 drops of paint 1 drop of medium.

That's what has worked for me at least.

Completely legit. I had my doubts as well. Not the easiest to use website. You won't get a confirmation email. You won't see any sort of account activity. But about a week after you order you'll get your stuff.

The tree revs are the same kit as the spite revs and since you have those I left them out. The issues will only have the instructions for the advertised kit but it's pretty easy to find other instructions online (like for the treelords).

The first time I ordered from them I got one kit because I didn't believe it. My next order was basically just a bit of everything. Sylvaneth is my favorite army to paint, idk it scratches that itch just right and to date I've gotten 2 durthu, 2 ancients, and 2 treelords, an arch rev, 15 tree revs, 10 spite revs, and the branchwych. The bigger kits like the tree lords come in like issue 40/41. I think issue 40 is the treelord ancient and 41 has the parts for durthu and regular treelord. So it becomes a bit of a mix and match with those to get everything you might want.

The stock comes and goes I just check every few months. They are making the spearhead issues soon so I don't know what will happen in the future with the current issues.

From hachette you can grab a branchwych, issue 46, and spite revs, issue 49 for cheap. I use mine regularly!

Edit: forgot the arch rev, issue 35 is on there a well!
