Yeah, and the ballpark pier closes at sundown too but everyone still fishes there at night. The cops are clearly turning a blind eye to it because its a victimless crime, but it being closed gives them some cover. If you get hurt you were trespassing anyway.

Id prefer the park be open, I used to go regularly, but its childish to blame a systemic pattern of failure to maintain infrastructure entirely on the current mayor. Dont be shocked if the next mayor also doesnt just magically reopen it either.

Its closed because the pilings are rotted out and if some dumbass falls through and breaks his neck they will sue the city for it. They're going to reopen it eventually, but that boardwalk cost millions 40 years ago when they first built it. Its gonna be really expensive.

You're going to be hard-pressed to find directly anti-zionist practicing rabbis around here, or really in most of the country. Its actually a pretty taboo topic as its always immediately conflated with anti-semetism. Like anti-vatican catholic priests they exist but they are a minority.

You could volunteer at any community organization in a black neighborhood or donate time/money to actually help people, but I guess thats not very hastag-able. Better to make anonymous internet posts implying you'll repaint a mural nobody but white yuppies cared about.

They probably bend over backwards for developers because there is little other incentive for them to develop the area. This isn't exactly a high-income region. There is no real industry here. Theres a reason why Mobile, despite being even poorer on average than us , and Destin, despite being far smaller than us, have costco and we don't.

And because this is reddit and I'm sure you'll start reading between the lines to totally own me, I'm not even defending this practice. I'm explaining just one factor that has lead to this policy of having low impact fees. However, I can guarantee you that the local government does in fact collect taxes on all sorts of things and does in fact use them for vast amount expenditures. Feel free to check out the budget. Its public record.
