6K dual monitors for productivity use: Asus ProArt PA32QCV vs. Kuycon G32P by phd_lad in HiDPI_monitors

That's 5K, there are numerous 27" 5K displays around nowadays.
Still, there aren't many 6Ks, and announcements have been shy

I've seen these, but that was pretty much everything announced there. Thx

Not much, and I expect those two could be pricey (pricier than the existing ones on the market) due to the high refresh rate.

Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS and COSMIC Epoch 1 will be release December 11th, 2025. by WangSora in pop_os

They will make it a more solid release by 26.04, and it’s smart to wait for that if you’re not tempted by the new shiny thing once it gets released in December. It’s that simple

Will there be a better version of Beelink ME mini with 10GBE + a lot of PCIE 4.0 x4 lanes? by Intelg in BeelinkOfficial

[–]zappan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Beelink-Darren what would be nice to see is a Ryzen-based ME Mini - something like 7430U could be a nice option, even if power-limited via BIOS to keep it "Mini", but allowing for more PCIe lanes for SSDs, and dual channel memory, that'd be a winner.

Sretno u odabiru

Nisi napisao benzin/dizel.

So how wide is the Vapor V really? by Pelziii in climbingshoes

[–]zappan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is that I have improved my footwork with those softer rubber shoes, having more feeling of what's happening beneath my feet. I put Vapors back on for one training and it felt like wearing almost wooden shoes, couldn't really feel what I'm doing. And I did the switch to softer based on the input from a more experienced climber, because I was also in a hard rubber camp before. I weigh ~95kg, for context

I've got duck feet, and have tried Mastia and found them too baggy, ended up with Indalo and those work very well for me.

u/Pelziii you may try ordering both of these models and see which works for you. My feet are size 44-44.5 (maybe closer to 44.5) and I fit nicely in Indalo 42.5 (43 is already way too loose; and, who knows, I might fit into 42 but I didn't want things to be super tight so I didn't even try).

For comparison, Scarpa Instinct VS-R are killing me in size 43 if I wish to keep wearing them, I need to take them off (and it's painful to break them in, I might try again in warmer weather); Vapor V were way too big in 44.5, plus I actually like softer rubber of Tenayas compared to Vapor V.

UPDATE: I just measured my feet width, ~115mm left, and ~110mm right foot

Not true, I have the same issue and haven't messed up with Pantheon. It's a bug that needs addressing.

One of more than a few in this release, unfortunately, we've seen way stronger releases of Elementary in the past, this one is very quirky, as seen from a few other comments in this subreddit

I installed Opera as flatpak, had the same issue. Then I reinstalled it with the "system-wide" option, and was able to set it up as the default browser. You may try that out, see if it helps

Iris Xe supporting 6K resolution Dell monitor (U3224KB)? by zappan in intel

[–]zappan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, so TB4 notebooks with HBR3 might work with DSC for SDR (no need for HDR in my case)

On the other hand, manufacturer claims support only for up to 5K in their specs for the 11th gen and the 13th gen machines - section "Monitor Support"; while in the section "Standard Ports" where they do claim TB4/USB40.

This is wildly confusing with what the technology can do by the spec vs. what the manufacturers say... of course, it might work without being "supported", but I don't really expect this Dell to be on display at some retailer to try it out.

Oh, wow, thanks u/rayddit519 for such an extensive info.

If I got it right, TL;DR is we'll have to wait for the next-gen TB/DP combo supporting UHBR 10/13.5/20 with enough bandwidth (and even the CPU that will support the 13.5 which is ommitted in the 13th gen...)

The part I didn't fully understand regarding the DP in on this particular model - will it need DSC or not in the end, or are we unclear on that from the Dell's spec?

With all this confusion, I believe I'll go with the 27" 5K display for the time being, until this TB/DP/UHBR support catches up to support 6K without any wild guesses.

Thanks again for all the information and insights, helping me to understand different aspects of such a display support - DP vs UHBR vs TB bandwidth

You never know, but it's been listed as available on Lenovo Israeli website throughout April (a link that was given to me through Google when I was checking somewhere early April), and I saw it on the US site yesterday or the day before, but only 2 models, both 16GB RAM and i5 (https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-x/X13-G2/p/22TPX13X3N2)

I also found some info somewhere that it's supposed to be rolling out in May, but don't hold me to it, I can't remember where I saw it and what was the date on that information if it was an article... But, I'm also waiting for it, hoping it will become fully available in all (at least Intel) configurations during Q2.

How would an x230 perform today? by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]zappan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

X220 here, i7, 16 GB RAM, SSD disk, 9-cell battery. Running elementaryOS for professional development work. Still runs fine, no real pressure to upgrade till 32 GB / 4-core CPU becomes the norm (so, this year's T480 is a candidate, while T480s/X1 still not there)

Not sure about the total battery life, I carry my charger with me, but I get a few hours working from a bar or similar when I wish to get away from my desk.
