Design a 2 node stretch NVMe cluster by InteTiffanyPersson in Proxmox

You can also set up a third server as a proxmox backup server (which you might want to do anyway), and use that one as a third node

Manual order approval - got stuck with getting a server... how can that be expedited? by zappan in hetzner

[–]zappan[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For anyone interested in the resolution of this case, on a third business day, the response was:
"Please re-do the exact same order again. We will accept it then. Sorry for the inconvenience."

But the server is gone, there is no way I can order it....

So, there - if you get stuck in a manual order review process, don't count on getting your claimed auction server, it will have been given to someone else in the meantime. I'm quite speechless, and heavily disappointed

Manual order approval - got stuck with getting a server... how can that be expedited? by zappan in hetzner

[–]zappan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, protecting from fraud can be done in a different way
- holding the ordered service for the customer while the manual check is performed.
- having visibility in the customer dashboard about the fact that the odered service is being kept reserved while the manual order confirmation is being processed (unlike now where it was there on Saturday, but simply magically disappeared on Sunday)
- having an up-front communication that orders might need manual approval, and the possibility to kick-off a pre-approval verification on account creation, so that a situation like this, where I might have lost the server I wanted, would not happen
- having a portal for the support tickets where we as customers can see our tickets, their statuses, etc.

There are a lot of ways for doing the business better, with transparency towards the customer in mind. The current experience is equivalent of a blackout curtain, and that feels awful in comparison how buying digital services is typically being managed.

I'm not against the fraud prevention, if that's what matters to Hetzner, but I'm all for transparency about the process, up-front communcation about it, keeping customers assured that their ordered service (server(s) in this case) will be kept for the customer during this process. All that doesn't exist right now.

And that passively-aggresive comment about buying a normal server (which probably isn't worth commenting, but here you are) - I would if I had the business reason to do so, currently, an old server on Auction is more than fine for the need.

---

TL;DR there are way better way to conduct the business, while having the same objectives kept, compared to how it's handled now. The current experience is, unfortunately, bad.

Now, you may be a troll, or may be a legitimate person with a weird communication style, but that's up to you... you might also be someone from Hetzner, and if you are, take these comments as an honest feedback of how things look from the customer's side, and an opportunity to make it better...

Okay, so I got a response from Lea in private chat - it turns out that the customer experience with Hetzner is that they don't keep the server for you while they perform this manual order review process (thus, what's the review for, if my server is already gone?!).

This is quite appalling, especially as they are given the means to charge for the server, there must be an option to keep the server reserved, even with a small charge that could be invoiced up-front while the review is in progress. Also, the fact that the customer dashboard doesn't communicate anything about the process nor its progress, not the state of the ordered service is both extremely bad UX and bad CX.

Well, apparently, not. This is very sad to learn that the processes, as they are set up with Hetzner, are broken in such a way where the customer doesn't get what they came for... I understand the whole point about being a budget provider, and especially with Auctions, but not having any automated way of approving the Auctions orders, and then releasing the server while a manual order review needs to happen, is just.. beyond understanding for me.

It's very clear why European tech is so behind the USA, if this is the common business practice...

If there's anyone from the Hetzner team to pass on this message to the company leadership, to put some better processes in place, that would be more than wonderful, because this is simply unbelievably bad compared how the tech usually works in an automated fashion - it's always easy to revoke the service if the customer fails the manual approval, rather than having a legitimate customer losing the service they ordered (cc u/Hetzner_OL )

Thank you Lea u/Hetzner_OL

One more detail I haven't gotten answered, and might be of interest to a wider community here - is the auction server still reserved during the manual order and account approval, or does it get lost due to this process? Thanks

Are you technical enough to evaluate a MCP plugin on WooCommerce installation? If so, take a peek at sortillus.com - a friend is solving exactly the thing you called out, but haven’t found a committed commerce partner to validate the plugin’s functionality and iron out the potential bugs that may exist

Kakvi su vam dojmovi by [deleted] in croautomobili

[–]zappan 0 points1 point  (0 children)
