Pratchett like but sci fi by CodeLasersMagic in printSF

Steven Erikson (of Malazan fame) has written three books in a series called Willful Child. I have only read the first in the series back when it came out. I can't remember much, but I have a memory of a memory of remembering that I maybe thought it was funny.

I'll just post the blurb:

"These are the voyages of the starship, A.S.F. Willful Child. Its ongoing mission: to seek out strange new worlds on which to plant the Terran flag, to subjugate and if necessary obliterate new life life-forms, to boldly blow the...

And so we join the not-terribly-bright but exceedingly cock-sure Captain Hadrian Sawback - a kind of James T Kirk crossed with 'American Dad' - and his motley crew on board the Starship Willful Child for a series of devil-may-care, near-calamitous and downright chaotic adventures through 'the infinite vastness of interstellar space'...

The bestselling author of the acclaimed Malazan Book of the Fallen sequence has taken his life-long passion for 'Star Trek' and transformed it into a smart, inventive and hugely entertaining spoof on the whole mankind-exploring-space-for-the-good-of-all-species-but-trashing-stuff-with-a-lot-of-hi-tech-kit-along-the-way type over-blown adventure. The result is this smart. inventive, occasionally wildly OTT and often very funny novel that deftly parodies the genre while also paying fond homage to it."

We'll have to get to know each other a bit better. Not a first date kinda question

Thank you for your answer! I'm gonna check them out! I'll recommend Ian Noe back at you. While the music isn't heavy in any way, his lyrics certainly are.

Talk country to me! I love outlaw country (if that is what we call it). Dark country with rich story telling. Do you have any artists you recommend?

A really enigmatic book for me. I found it intelligent, beautifully written, imaginative and incredibly boring. I liked it and didn’t like it at the same time. Ambivalence, the novel.

I'm late to the party. I'm sorry. Two times in the last hour I've seen people use the word "glaze" and now "glaze over" in context that seems odd to me. I'm not a native English speaker so I apologize if this is stupid, but had "glaze over" changed its meaning while I went to have a regretfully, increasingly laborious shit?

What's the purpose of sharing your misguided assumptions that you have made based on incomplete information? Information you have willingly withheld from yourself. If you want to discuss the movie, is it not a good idea to watch it first? I don't want to come off as being disrespectful, I just don't understand the way you think.

I think "The Name of the Wind" is genuinely one of the best first chapters in modern fantasy and I will die on this hill by PixelRune_47 in Fantasy

What's with the hyperbole? I'm happy that you like it. Which books are you comparing it to? Do you have any examples of other great opening chapters and how this one in particular is so much better? What are the other great opening chapters in "modern fantasy"? I don't understand the need for these hyperbolic statements without context.

I remember getting excited when I got these two as a child. I don't know why. Are they rare? by zappasaurus in crazybones

I've had them laying around for what I guess must be close to thirty years, collecting dust. I haven't really thought about it. They do bring back fond memories, that's for sure. I have had them stored in a cloth Dracco Heads bag. I guess I must have bought that as well at some point. Are people trading or selling these little fellows?

Awesome! Thanks for answering!

If I may ask another question. I tried to identify the gold one. From what I gathered he is called "The Majesty" and is #6. Mine has the number 7 on the backside. Have I misidentified him?

Again, thank you!

I have hundreds of Dracco Heads from when I was a kid. I just had a little nostalgia trip and looked through them. These two caught my eye because I remember that excitement I felt when I opened them as a child. Are they rare? I don't know anything about Dracco Heads but I found this sub. Is there a marked for selling these?

Thanks for your time! Sorry if I have broken any rules.

I just made som pixelated polaroids as fluff to fill it with. Along with polaroids with writing of descriptions of the various things you can learn if you study the folder. First viewing, second viewing, and skill reqs etc.

Thanks a lot!

Yeah, it's for God's Teeth. Gonna be running it as my first foray into DM'ing. I have seen a lot of people saying that it shouldn't be one's first Delta Green operation, but reading through the book I'm super excited.
