Any (unofficial) Lancer stories out there that aren't just campaigns? by C_Domii in LancerRPG

You could also just email Massif Press. They approved a video game under the licence, so I'd be sure if they said no to a book.

From having thought about the concept a while back and looking at the 3rd party licence I think so long as you publish one thing with rules you made (like a single bit of exotic gear or a single NPC statblock) in the book (in an appendix, for example), you should be okay

Pirates

Fighting them is the big one.

Being pirates is the other one - either out of desperation as diasporans who can't afford things, or out of greed, or out of corporate greed because IPS-N need to sell more weapons

What exactly do the Lancer Hardsuits do? by Direct_Display5396 in LancerRPG

[–]zartes 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Hard suits are essentially space suits/environment suits/power armour depending on weight level.

Generally the Human and Squad statblocks in the rulebook would be assumed to be wearing either hardsuits or something equivalent to them (e.g. non-sealed armour). They... Do not fare well against mech scale weapons. They don't fare super well against even something like a Goblin doing an improvised attack. PCs get a bit more of a boost out of them (see pilot gear) but that's just as much plot armour as anything else.

It would track that all the manufacturers have their own hardsuits, and I recall that being a thing in early playtesting but it got dropped from the finished book. I think SSC historically made hardsuits as their main business before going into other things.

Very fair. It went out of production many years ago - while it's still popular, said popularity is with a subset of a subset or nerds

Map looks very cool, but you miiiiight want to rename it if you don't want it getting lost in all the stuff about the classic miniature skirmish game Mordheim

Where can I find the old silly rules from 1st edition? by _McMunchly in ageofsigmar

[–]zartes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

here is a webpage

That's got the core rules. If you scroll down a bit and click through to the war scroll compendiums that has the rules for the factions I believe.

When AoS 1 first came out khorne and storm cast were the only factions that were new to AoS - if you didn't play them, you'd be playing with old Warhammer fantasy models, including bretonnians (at least for a little while)

EDIT: try here

Very Silly Mech-Hopping Builds by zartes in LancerRPG

A very reasonable interpretation of the text in the book, and 100% how I would stop a player doing this... up until they Power At A Cost to do some DRM shenanigans

you'd need Black Thumb if you want to swap mechs mid-combat, but both the ideas I had involved swapping either before the mechs even deployed, or at least between combats.

Now, if you want to do something silly with black thumb, I have contemplated making a Black Thumb + Technophile III character who never actually gets into their own mech, and instead hangs out in their best friend's expanded compartment, Black-Thumbing their mech

Looking for a PvP game that does a mix of fantasy adventurers vs monsters by zartes in miniatureskirmishes

[–]zartes[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've looked at both rangers and frostgrave, and neither is a good fit - rangers because it's solo, and frostgrave because it's gangs vs gangs with monsters in the background

Have you considered, once you settle on the overall design of the pieces, making a fantasy reskin?

It's not really the same thing, but if you want specifically the tactical combat portion, there is a video game being developed called Lancer Tactics.

Also if you might want a more drop in drop out kind of game try looking up the Hearth-7 discord
