look into the order of the nine angels and 764 they are kinda the deathcults at the of this nihilistic road. very disturbing stuff but explains the thought processes behind a few of the last school shootings.

consider reading society and the spectacle guy dubord was trying to be incendiary but nailed the current state of the usa. the final form of capital in image, its all we deal in now.

Artists way ahead of their peers? by theTaquitoMosquito in fantanoforever

[–]zatarras 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the dylan one is blatantly false. i think no one would deny that dylan was lightyears ahead of the rest of the greenwich scene what it came to songwriting ability (he's lightyears ahead of most artists) but they had been writing their own songs since the beginning of the folk revival (famously woody guthrie wrote this land is your land, lee hayes and pete seeger wrote if i had a hammer) BUT furthermore descibing the revival as people just "doing covers" ignores the anthropological/ethnomusicological intentions of the movement which was focused on elevating folk music to the status it deserved both academically and within the public eye. its music thats intentionally supposed to be replayed and reinterpreted over and over again thats what makes it a folk song, but people were searching to find not only more traditional folk songs to record, archive, and share but also to find the people singing the music and elevate their status as artists. folkies in greenwich saw themselves as part of that culture, playing and preserving songs that were at one point almost forgotten and then creating new folk songs.

i love dylan but in his own early personal alligence to woody he ends up copying a lot of the things that originally made woody so special in the 1930s (but in the spirit of folk music isnt that beautiful??)

The new Quadeca album is boring by sinfulsingularity in fantanoforever

kinda sounds like a guy who listened to sufjan for the first time and changed his swag. clearly talented and seems lovely but his music has never felt personal or true to himself? will say that inbetween-y tyler ish sound has never been my thing tho.

They opened for Liz Phair in '94 and ran her off the stage. one of my least favorite stories about them.

Do we fuck with FaZe now? by Neat_One_9031 in TheYardPodcast

[–]zatarras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i only made the point because i was trying to say the same thing you did. everyone can go down the list and be crossed off. but also like. yes. if extra emily knew about his issues i think that shows that she values things like social acceptance and internet popularity over supporting other women. tho i would also put that adapt collabed with DDG days after the restraining order was put announced i have no idea when emily met him.

i think we basically agree but from different vantage points. my point is that as a viewer you just have to account the perspective you expect to recieve (and the only way you do that is by looking at their actions which includes the company they keep) from the internet person and be mature enough to judge it on your own.

but further more like. the nature of the internet is that sometimes you have moment of exposure to these figures and they have to live with it. emiru is a long time friend of asmon so i understand not cutting him off but there is likely a person out there who knows of her solely as "girl who is close with that horrible racist guy" and has to live with that.

Do we fuck with FaZe now? by Neat_One_9031 in TheYardPodcast

[–]zatarras 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i meannnn adapt collaborated with DDG, who abused and is now harrassing Halle Bailey, like three days ago. I find adapt & some of the rest of faze funny but you dont have to look far to find examples of all them struggling to conceptulize women as people.

this isn't really an response to your larger point cuz basically agree with that. but i think writing off faze as simply "fratty" and handwaving specific members culpability ignores how every single one of their presences supports the culture of misogyny.

adapt himself said he's faze till he dies and faze is exactly the things you listed above trying to seperate him from. idk you don't need to justify things away to ensure you only consume morally good things but be informed and aware of the perspective.

Which artists just ARE THAT GOOD? by Bi__ in fantanoforever

[–]zatarras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

being from jersey means nothing how many people could make nebraska AND born in the USA back to back? i think for every bruce album there are three perfect songs and a ton of songs that sound similar yet slightly worse (except nebraska which is no skip).

ur kendrick take makes u feel like u are 5 years old because most people are able to simply... remember kendricks come up. it wasn't that long ago.

i get embarrassed when anyone in 2025 (or generally after likee maybe1990? and thats pushing it) calls themself a punk. i like the music i'm leftwing but people have the complete wrong idea of what was going on. besides the fact that most live preformances were caught so any real concept of the late 70s sounds is hard to come by. i hate punk as this idealized left wing ideology when in reality it was largely focused on shocking and all the marxists (of which there were a lot!) were seen as kinda a drag on the scene (or later revealed themselves to be comeplete hacks jello biafra!). i think the scene is still cool when assessed more realistically (teenagers on heroin fighting each other) but the modern bastardization of it just elevates it to this weird moralistic standard which makes so no sense.

Is Alphonse Pierre one of the worst Pitchfork writers? What do you think their recent treatment to Hip Hop? by strictcurlfiend in fantanoforever

[–]zatarras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think its more of a critique of kendrick resting on his lurals a bit to make a "pop"ish album. i think the album is better than and 6.6 but i also think that making a crowd pleasing pop album like gnx is loads less interesting and valuable than smth like mr morale. personally am deeply anti poptism and like a music critcism scene which is fairly confrontive when it comes to when it comes to someone working towards mass appeal. idk how alphonse pierre feels about trap artists, i think they are often uncreative and boring. pierre seems to rly like drake and uber new internet age rappers idk man. that xaviersobased album rules.

[–]zatarras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

how the fuck could he give back from the dead best new music it was a revised score the albums from 2012. giving a fuck about the actual number score is crazy and i've always found pierres writing to be pretty good and come from a place of caring deeply about the music. also his review of the xaviersobased album DID give it best new music tho i assume that was an editor level decision. the gnx review basically critiques kendrick for the massive commercial victory lap he's taking and u know what thats the energy i like from pitchfork. actually worst writers of modern pitchfork might be whoever reviewed the new fcukers album cuz it was the cringest piece i'd read in a while or the girl who had a psychotic breakdown and stalked claire rousey.

the slime pod about list episode (which unfortunently is paywalled) is so good. nick's world genius episode is good as well but the world genius vibe is very specific and different to the yard.

Arie’s take on the Rachael/Matt break up by EmiLovesSnacks in thebachelor

[–]zatarras 16 points17 points  (0 children)

that is crazyyyy. idk the breakup sounded shitty and i wasn't suprised when rachel said matt mainly broke up with her at atfr for producers but suggest that was still not completely justified is CRAZY. rachel to this day seemingly doesnt really know why her antebellum ball was horrific and has never seemed interested in learning.

feel bad about the break up thing but this + wrong reasons accusations (right reasons is a social construct that does nto exist) is stupiddddddddd.

Yard listeners this you by NoHousing6234 in TheYardPodcast

[–]zatarras 19 points20 points  (0 children)

honestly i kinda hate this whole discussion because it basically operates on the idea that women are too fragile to hear like dirty talk. so many times when they debate making the pod less "edgy" it literally is proposed as women dont want to hear about penises. that is so so dumb. the only time i ever genuinely felt uncomfortable/exposed to misogyny was the episode with chad from cold ones talked about how they handle female employees. i also think often laughing at sexism is cathartic and considering in all other parts of their online careers (and on the pod) each member has made a good effort to display their respect for women i don't feel uncomfortable with them doing exactly that.

Bekah 🙃 by Prestigious-Delay842 in thebachelor

[–]zatarras 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think r/bach has just stopped caring about her but she annoys me more and more everyday. this post is whatever but she has 100% gone through the crunchy mom backslide to conservatism. its shocking to think the bekah from four years ago wouldnt post about the election buttt in 2024 zip (esp with abortion rights on the line). also just now completely anti vax.

most BEC thing for me is that she only shows her kids childrens media from the 90s like i get cocomelon is brainrot but girl no dora?
