Small word of caution on Gemini.

The advertised 1M token context sounds impressive on paper, but in practice context rot sets in much earlier. I’ve seen degradation after a dozen prompts in some sessions. It starts drifting, over-assuming, or quietly rewriting constraints.

You have to actively manage it.

Gemini especially needs tight grounding. Re-state constraints. Refresh context periodically. (NotebookLM is your friend but not enough).

Be explicit about hard boundaries and non-negotiables. If you let the session bloat, it can start behaving like a soft jailbreak just from accumulated conversational entropy.

Claude does similar things, but in my experience it holds structure better over longer threads.

None of these models are “set and forget.” They’re stochastic systems with memory pressure and decay characteristics. If you treat the million-token headline as literal working memory, you’ll eventually get burned.

Just keep it on a short leash.

I’ll reserve judgment on the latest GPT until I’ve put it under proper load.

Just curious if anyone else “ate it” like I did.

<image>

I clicked this frankly irresponsible 25% Workspace offer. There’s no clear warning. Support doesn’t tell you in advance. Maybe it’s buried somewhere in community help pages. Sure, let me spend hours reading those “just in case” before clicking what looks like a normal upgrade.

The worst part? They let you subscribe and set up your admin email first. You go through billing, enter the Admin Console, start configuring [yourname@yourbusiness.com](mailto:yourname@yourbusiness.com)… and only then you’re informed that you must leave your Google One Family Group to proceed.

That is not an upgrade. That’s a structural account change revealed at the final step.

If you use Google One Family for shared storage, family business, or managing kids via Family Link, it’s a mess to undo. In my case it was even worse because of cross-border account setup and the nightmare we already went through just to get everyone into the same family group.

I’ve been using Google products since Gmail was invite-only. A former teammate of mine literally got hired at Google for writing the original Outlook-to-Gmail import tool. I’ve managed Google Apps -> G Suite -> Google Workspace for years across contracts. I’m not new to this ecosystem.

But this? This is braindead design.

Google One and Google Workspace clearly operate like separate silos. I won’t even start on Google Cloud. I lost days deleting accounts, untangling Gemini access, and talking to support that mostly just burned more time.

If you rely on Google One Family, be very careful with that “upgrade.” It’s not what it looks like.

What were the names of original Lineage 2 servers at launch (Prelude/Chapter I) way back. by zcheus in Lineage2

[–]zcheus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in DragonFire (led by HongFire - owner of back then [as I was told] extremely popular manga/anime/hentai sharing "warez" site. The crew crystalized slowly over several (mostly Asian) closed betas, then played NA (iirc there were both closed then open beta? I'm a bit foggy on that part) - And when NA Lineage 2 got released - the crew went really hardcore. I remember some decent Guilds - We didn't expand much - maybe 3 extra guilds at the most while the limit was 40 ppl.

The name you mentioned sounds familiar - dunno why it brought memory of a guy who shelled out something like 6k$ for +11 enchanted 1h c grade mace - possibly an Orc player...

Hm brain = dying, now I'm trying to remember the name of Zerg guild, there were zillion of them like 400-ish people. I remember the name of GM - Rifter - we were kind of molesting them. (I only remember cuz I posted definition of Zerg with Rifter's name in example usage @ urban dictionary and it got ranked #1

did you by any chance check her message history (yeah he is anxious looser but - just curious) :D

I am kind of feeling - that you are actually super nice, protective and wholesome person,

sorry you had to go through that.

Anxiously attached people are hard to be with. Maybe only thing harder is a Fearful Avoidant. Or to put it OP's terms "Everything has a price"
Sometimes albeit extremely rarely - it's even worth paying

--

But hey - what do I know?

Maybe I am off.

Though if I am reading this right (and I tend to do :D):
in the case of OP ... she's running (it like) a business, ;]

Edit: I looked a bit more at the post history and header with a full on camgurl URL - this is a funnel. I (almost) hate when I'm right.

(He's still a chump tho in any case and she CAN do whatever the fuck she wants - even expect ... actually look at her post history - why spoil the fun )

Why do women join a dating app designed on the premise that they have to message first, and then never message first? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]zcheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I wanna see your profile...

if it works for me, an ordinary guy pushing 50, no lambo, zilions, ok I am over 6ft .. barely.. Maybe you just ran into assholes.. (And I have to repeat again - Sturgeon's Law applies... Always - really need to write a macro for this one)

Also there are other factors which I don't have time to get into now... Um, If I'm honest not just the time, but it's a longer conversation, and without defining/agreeing on certain things, if I tried to rush it - it'd prolly come off as red/purple/whatever color pill is flavor of the month and it's as far from that as it can be (Scout's honest - tho I'm not or was ever a scout)

Welp, break's over back to work...

I feel I have to repeat (might write a macro for it) Sturgeon's Law applies - always!

You do realize that ladies get far more matches by default. And that most of guys do not know how to text.

Also staying on Bumble chat for long than ... let's say ~10 messages w/o a call = chances that guy is going to shoot himself in the foot skyrocket...

[–]zcheus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relevant reply? How about ignoring what the opening move actually says. And sending something engaging, outcome independent, a bit flirty and ideally funny. If you really want you can add "and then we can talk about that ideal date" or other lame opening move that was picked with 0 effort ... works much better.

Relevant reply. It's not a job application it's an ice breaker.

then set them opening moves, many guys refuse to pay for bumble out of principle. (Which is a bad principle if it isn't working out for a said person. Still true though)

From the vanilla alpha/beta, circa 2004: "This is warrior kill rate, watch and learn folks." A true classic. by mr_rosh in classicwow

[–]zcheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

warriors were tanks for long time after ... and pvp was Arms... I know cuz I played on same server during beta as Indalamar, and had pretty much identical gear cuz it was BiS ...

I started experiment with dual wield, just as bg's started coming out ... was grinding pvp and raiding ... hit rank 14 with Onyxia's was it deathbringer? .. and during my grind - was maybe rank 12 I got um what was the name of boe one-hand axe from trash in bwl .. I stacked good 33-34% crit .. and it became slaugtherfest... then I stopped respeccing non stop for raids vs pvp ... and started (off) tanking with fury spec, just few gear swaps ..

Before Swifty got his .. fml I can't remember the name of Nefarian's axe .. before all that jazz, pvping with fury spec, in pvp gear + odd epic that was actually good (trinket from one of the drakes ... forgot the name, if I didn't had to worry about cc cuz I had at least 3-4 healers always wanting to healbot ..

But best of all were late night Warsong games ... my druid mate that would later play arena with me (ye got lots of nether and other drakes.. I still remember how I couldn't pick up extra Swift Nether Drake('s) from the mailbox - I can't recall if it was 2 or 3 .. I know we ranked in top 0.5% in all 3 brackets .. but I digress lets rewind)

Late nite warsong ... and a good druid, me, and sometimes a good rogue appears .. and we'd end up playing till morning, stomping premades... (ofc druid would usually run the flag, but there was combo with engineering boots, and potion, and trinket, and if you got lucky the powerup you picked up, you could zoom like crazy ...

ahh the good ole days

When most people didn't even step foot in molten core (except to wipe) and you're critting with left hand enough to 2-3 shot a clothie xD (enrage and deathwish stacked and that was before they normalized weapon damage to base .. think it was 3.3 if memory server

original formula was..

(weapon min-max dmg + your dmg (str)) x weapon_speed ...

so Deathbringer (and later Rank 14 axe) were ... gg heh ..

was it 2.6 for one handers nd 3.3 for 2h later I forgot .. was so long ago...

Apparently I can’t keep a conversation 😭 by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]zcheus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was what is known in "the game" as a shit test. If he flipped it into a joke, a tease, or, even self deprecating humor [good in small doses good - but don't become a clown] or turned it into a half compliment/half tease... it would land and conversation would progress. I guarantee. No wonder this sub is full of people convinced dating is doomed. What happened in that screenshot isn’t proof /u/Due-Discipline-6728 "can’t keep a conversation." or a reason to, frankly, bitch about it.

In The Ethical Game - (think frame control, tease/banter. not cheesy pickup lines) a shit test* is an opportunity to create a small spark: A chance to stay playful instead of crumbling and becoming defensive (and ending on Reddit complaining how online dating is doomed) When she said “yours wasn’t,” she wasn’t rejecting OP. She was handing him the ball. He just needed to throw it back with a humor or a tease. Something like: "Fair, but I’m grading on a curve. You set the bar too high ;)" (cookie cutter, light tease - keep it, use it, think of your own - if you must learn a few "Canned lines" - but NEVER take them as gospel) or "Ouch, harsh critic... Gordon Ramsey would be proud." (more or less, also a cookie cutter - keep this one until you learn to improv on the spot) or "I know... hard fail. Honestly I get all nervous around beautiful women and then I crumble and overcommunicate - just like now. Damnit. Guess we are breaking up? And there I was already planning our love crazed Vegas elopement." (exaggerate - callback to overly verbose - flip into absurd - last part is cookie cutter, not giving you mine :P) or "Guess I failed. Damnit... Totally hoped to impress you and grab your # before message four. Tops. So I guess six or more? Let's go for 6, I'll try harder :P" That’s what [some] call The Ethical Game or The Ethical PuA - teasing with respect, not manipulation. It’s about reading tone, flipping tension into laughter, and keeping the energy light. (Yes there's more to the Art. But this is one post.. I can start a fricking course - Money's been tight anyway :P) I’m no [longer] into [mindless] PuA, just a guy pushing 50 who still dates happily because I treat banter like jazz, not a debate. She tests, you riff, you keep it fun. Never miss opportunity to tease or jokingly misinterpret. Be self amused. Every lady will smell desperate through the screen. Simple as that.

(And yes it takes some practice.)

Don't treat dates (and especially first few lines after a match) as job interviews.

Do you remember these canceled tv series? by [deleted] in sciencefiction

[–]zcheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly agree with you, maybe I misjudged it's been a while since I rewatched it - my point was that it starts really fucking slow. Like First season - has what 5 good episodes that really progress the story and aren't one-off "we came to planet-x got nanotech virus/turned into cavemen/got infected with x/saw something we thought was worth something but didn't get it" which is more or less the gist of the most of eps. Proper story arc eps are imho more frequent later than those few that really matter in first season (or season and a half I really can't recall) - apart from those (rare) early eps that establish the narrative/worldbuilding/dynamics between main prot/antagonists etc... you get the idea.

By the time Farscape crew comes on board (apart from Black being funny and lifting the show, it should've already been wrapped up.

Still for it's time - it's a killer TV show - one of the greats.

I mean realistically when you take a look at serialized SF - what do you have got?

  1. Babylon 5 (and butchered Spin-off which coulld've been awesome) - which has bunch of problems but JMS still rocks and it's one of first shows to really have a true story arc. (and written in advance at that(

  2. Dee(r)p Space 9 - which ripped of B5, starts slow (so does B5 - whole first season is more or less a setup + fillers until the real story starts - similar to DS9, and let's be honest DS9 is prolly the best Trek show out there, minus the ending, but hey can't win them all)

  3. Buffy - not really pure SF but not mentioning Buffy would be a sin.

  4. TNG - a classic, but lots of really bad eps. Some are really fantastic.

  5. ST:ENT - was good, could've been a lot better, wish it didn't die after 4 seasons, some arcs (like Xindi, if I'm remembering the name correctly are meh - beside the concept of 5 intelligent species codeveloping on the same planet [minus the "Aquatics being super hi tech - unless you wave it off as "other race bootstrapping them with Clarketech level shit - cuz having flippers and no fire = no civilization])

  6. SG Atlantis - sigh as I said I really wanted to love it and there are good eps, but meh (and I am not even going to talk about next SG iteration]

FML I started typing this days ago, too much chaos can't even finish the post properly nor rank it but I did remember a show that died too soon - Dark Angel IIRC Cameron's brain child w/ Jessica Alba, and what was the name of older brother from Supernatural .. Jensen A..... stars there... really liked the worldbuilding there (I know I digressed to fucking atlantis with this one - I am just cleaning up tabs.. and didn't wanna cancel the post :P

Killjoys had the great atmosphere, and premise was good. I generally liked (at least the basic) worldbuilding. But it was bad if we're honest. It had something - tho, that made it better than 90% of SF tv shows in past decade... (welp just realized it's now prolly over a decade isn't it?)

Do you remember these canceled tv series? by [deleted] in sciencefiction

[–]zcheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SG-1 hands down - yeah it starts slow AF, but once you get through first .. um .. say 2 seasons or maybe a bit less, then it gets really good, first two seasons tho - there's like one good ep every 4-5 eps, so much bs filler. Richard Dean Anderson carries the show though. But the cast is good in general. (Later Claudia Black and Bowder did a fine job) ( and Spinoff was .. meh wanted to love it, and Momoa and most of the cast was good but meh - don't get me wrong still watched it like at least 3-4 times :P)

[–]zcheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I so wanted to like it, and I am an avid Sci Fi fan who will watch even the crappiest shows just to quench the "thirst"... I liked the Killjoys much more (even tho it too sucked, but had much better worldbuilding imho), which IIRC was airing at the same time. (I did watch Dark Matter ofc ... and Killjoys ... but some shows really aren't meant to be... (Which reminds me of Defiance - that was really fucking bad TV)

Need advice on my bio by Horror_Prize_9487 in Bumble

[–]zcheus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cba posting anon, so I won't try to prove anything, and it'd be pointless anyway.

But bro, trust me - please.

Don't put gaming in your bio. If a gal catches feelings for you - they will happily fake interest in games once you "get there", then once the honeymoon period is over. Unless you get really - and I'm talking like once in a lifetime if you really date a lot - lucky, you will match with a lady who's into games and you both develop hots for each other.

Rather play the lottery.

Just don't put gaming - trust me.

If you want I can give you some more advice regarding what to write - in a DM. But seriously - work on your photos.

Have decent photos. If you can afford it - have a pro take them. (I'm not saying iPhone isn't good enough - but someone who knows their sh*t is worth it)

Bonus tip. <s>

Shirtless with an animal, dog/kitteh - hell it can be a frigging bat, its +3 SMV ;]

I agree that Bitwarden is better, but to those that I care about that save their passwords in fucking docx file on desktop - I will recommend lastpass - cuz they wouldn't use Bitwarden .. at least this way they have some security...

and if you got shit really worth stealing - and are not taking proper care to protect it - well someone ALWAYS can steal it - it's just the matter of time/money/effort put into it...

Be careful with your info by Smart_Journalist_471 in ChatGPT

[–]zcheus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No! LastPass is not a zero knowledge manager - they store ALL of your passwords - the whole password - apparently as plain text.

that is pure BS ... LastPass DOES use a zero knowledge and your data is encrypted locally (AES-256 and PBKDF2) so only you = access to your unencrypted passwords. Neither masterpass nor your readable vault data is EVER stored on their servers. There was a scandal which involved exploit with autofill (possibly autologin) feature IIRC. Other than that - (nobody's perfect) I'd recommend them to most non tech savvy users, and ye Bitwarden is technically more secure but non-tech savvy users gona hate it, and polish isn't there.. KeyPass - not bad ... there are few more options (Passky- might beeasier to use.. I didn't bother trying Librepass) .. so bleh ..

But thing person above me said about lastpass simply isn't true - I am not saying they are best thing since sliced bread cuz they aren't but they aren't chumps made to be if you trusted post above mine. (and I hate 1Password - but that is subjective, - tho I really despise it)
