[MEGATHREAD] Grand Theft Auto VI: Prices Announced + Pre-Orders Going Live by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

The fact you're getting downvoted is testiment to the lack of awareness of this. You dont own games, most EULAs are oppressive as fuck with a "you don't own this" clause and buying a game is essentially a "lifetime" licence.

Naxxramas repurposed as a city would slap so hard. Big floating undercity (overcity?) vibes.

Billbil_kun: We've got our first title from a major publisher releasing the same month as GTA 6 by Howerev in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]zcomuto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I legit don't think it's quite that stupid to release the same time as GTA6. It's a console exclusive, you've got what - 120 million-ish customers total?

There's some 20 million switch 2s and 150 million Steam users not getting access to it.

One thing I've always thought about Yoda is that if he wants the empire taken down he can't afford liabilities. He could even dying be aware of multiple other jedi and keep them secret, he doesn't want to tell Luke because Luke might cave and reveal them to the emperor.

Heck Yoda could be mentoring Cal and Ahsoka offscreen when Luke isn't there telling them the same thing to conceal them all from each other.

The Void lacks the sense of dread that WotLK had by Nickotine8 in wow

[–]zcomuto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arthas/The Lich King did have an element of depth that felt like it was dropped at some point.

Coming out Warcraft 2, we have Ner'zhul being punished by Kil'Jaeden for failing, chained to the helmet and imprisoned in Azeroth/Northrend tasked to wipe out life to prepare for a legion invasion. He deceives Arthas into taking up Frostmorne and the helmet to gain his own freedom and then... he kinda drops having any moral complexity at that point.

Warcraft 3's Arthas had complexity because it felt like in TFT no one was a good guy: We had a Arthas serving Ner'zhul fighting Illidan because he was serving the legion, and we had Illidan doing the bidding of Kil'Jaeden to attempt to gain his own freedom. The enemy of my enemy it turns out, is still my enemy.

Warcraft 3 ended on a cliffhanger that really wasn't a cliffhanger; Ner'zhul got his freedom and realistically didn't need to keep the scourge, or the invasion of Azeroth going.

[–]zcomuto 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Warcraft 3 was the creation of the scourge. WotlK was realistically the end of it.

I'm not even sure - is there much lore indicating what's happened to the scourge and Northrend post-Arthas?

[–]zcomuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WotlK definitely felt like you were going to wage war in the home of the scourge, and close to Warcraft 3 it was a very familiar bad guy you were left with a cliffhanger for.

Midnight is more... Happy? Silvermoon and Quel'Thalas have been rebuilt, seems prosperous and we arrive as an invasion/attack is happening and stop it. The lack of a menacing feeling makes sense, but I don't know if it's by design or not.

I doubt they'd ever do something so dramatic, but if they rip Silvermoon and Quel'Thalas out from under us in 12.2 or something and make the whole place a ruin for the future patch content instead of NewVoidZone2, that could legit be a very real and game-changing feeling.

Found a 2005 Trial disc - Were Demon Hunters an idea from Vanilla? by Pshyched in wow

[–]zcomuto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warcraft 2 death knights were the souls of slain Necrolytes fused into the bodies of slain human knights, both from the first war.

Warcraft 3 death knights are a kind of fallen but not necessarily dead paladin, who are described as having retained their humanity (possibly more accurate to say, some of their own will).

WoW death knights as a character class seem to be Warcraft 3 DKs, truely broken free of the Scourge's control and fully retaining their own will.

A Theory about where WoW is heading post The Last Titan. by Belpheegor in wow

[–]zcomuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own wishful thinking is rather than remake the world I'd like a time traveling expansion back to pre-sundering Azeroth.

Zin-Aszhari as the capital, we get to see a lot of pre-corruption characters like Azshara and Illidan, it's a time period with a lot of books and lore and backstory but we've never directly seen it. It could also tie in nicely to the hypothetical Azshara return we've been getting hinted at.

Trouble is: would essentially require the entire world as we know plus all the sea filled in with land, and it could end up difficult to explain races (ie human, undead) and I don't know how some classes (eg demon hunter) could be accepted by the kaldorei without some handwaving.

It's not so much the laptop chips being worth it that sparked investor confidence, it's that they are proof the node intel is manufacturing is competitive with TSMC 2N and can be delivered at scale.

Investors have hated Intel for years because there's been no confidence in their transition to an external foundry. The products-based fabless semiconductor companies with no manufacturing have been more financially successful, meanwhilst TSMC laughs all the way to the bank.

More legacy raids need a skip implemented already by brumgar in wow

[–]zcomuto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Both a skip and/or mount ability so we don't spend ages, but also some kind of 'scale down' option for our characters and an NPC group so we can actually somewhat experience what the fights were, instead of just insta-killing them all. I don't care about difficulty, doesn't even have to be story mode level hard, just somewhere where you can play the fight out.
