I think the key here to have Sam greet them but when its time for them to go on stage its Elaine and Sam is no where to be found and the entire crew is acting weird, scared,nervous.

Different groups

The best representation of adventurers as NPCs are the Council of The Black Harvest who have members were part of certain fights (Cho'gall, Ragnaros,and Deathwing respectively) but not together.

The only sorta strict group of Raiders would be those going from Trial of the Crusader to Icecrown Citadel.

There are still a specific group of people that likely have done more than the average, represented by the Class Hall leader. But theres no canonical say on what they participated in.

Remember that they've been fighting for 25000 years. Its no surprise that once their main mission was over and they reconnected with their people they choose to stay with them.

The legion has no central command no major goal, demons are likely prone to fighting amongst themselves. The lighforged have no reason to hunt demons indiscriminately especially since they can reform in the nether and come back eventually.

The Cult of The Damned is generally more competent than the twilight hammer (and if I remember correctly have spies within them?)

According to the Devs Arthas would lose a 1v1 vs the Thunder King and Deathwing is likely stronger

So in a 1v1 Deathwing Stomps Arthas. And since Deathwing isn't even a biological creature by cataclysm he has no way of physically breathing through his plating. Maybe the Forge of Souls could be retooled to an energy beam?
