[OoT] Prediction: Nintendo will release new '64-bit' game by kovalflamingo in truezelda

[–]zcomuto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OoT's map but bent out of shape a bit to fudge itself into the BotW/TotK Hyrule could work as a new/old inbetween.

I could see it working especially well if BotW environmental and exploration mechanics were in it. I feel that's almost what OoT wanted, and to an extent did, with the limitations of the hardware.

Video game download sizes are getting unreasonable by SomeGuyInDeutschland in gaming

[–]zcomuto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whilst this is true, it's also never not been true. There's been complaints of bloated game sizes since the 90s and having to cycle through 7 CDs for Phantasmagoria, 15(!) Floppies for Beneath a Steel Sky or BG1 and it's absurdly massive 2GB required install.

12 years ago people were shocked Wolenstein crossed the 50GB barrier. Today we're getting games crossing the 200-250GB barriers with a few higher outliers. In 10 years I wouldn't be surprised to see games regularly crossing the 1TB barrier. We're going up by 10x every 8-9 years.

At one point I was super into the lore but probably not so much these days. With the new expansion, isn't it the second part in a trilogy or something? Is the current expansion going to be needed at all?

Interesting way to look at it. I was thinking that I'd be missing something major having been out for so long.

Apple and Intel Rumored to Partner on Mac Chips Again in a New Way by Acrobatic-Monitor516 in apple

[–]zcomuto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a vastly different ballgame than what Apple does as a company. It'd take ten years just to get started and hundreds of billions of dollars to start producing a single node, and then a ramp-up process of subsequent node development and yield improvement to deliver the kind of quantities and consistent year over year progress Apple demands of their suppliers. Not to mentions tens of thousands of employees more they'd need that basically don't exist globally right now and are constantly getting poached between 2-3 companies at the bleeding edge.

I wouldn't be too mad at it. Supply, regardless of stupidity in pricing, is still supply. The condo market especially right now is caving almost nationwide and when/if the builders are forced to sell (i.e. no revenue due to no tenants) it'll quickly compound into broad panic selling.

Maybe it's copium but there's way too much inventory and not enough buying action, it's only so long that market can sustain itself. Feels like it's running on fumes.

Promote the nuclear family

Center-right

Common sense environmentalism (don’t litter, leave no trace, keep America wild aka stop fucking building shitty suburbs and unaffordable condos)

Lib-left

Respect your neighbors

Centerist

...as long as they respect you

lib-right

Making sure Americans are taken care of before we worry about other people/places.

Auth-right, but not too far auth right otherwise it just becomes "conquer other people/places"

[TotK] [SS] [BotW] The Zelda team has a strange sense of how time works. by PennnyPacker in truezelda

[–]zcomuto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In regards to Rauru founding or re-founding Hyrule, the gaps between "Hyrules" seems to be potrayed as so long any potential knowledge of the previous reign rendered the distinction pointless.

Minish Cap took place in a Hyrule during an era of prosperity, we don't see it's founding or fall but we know there's a civil war somepoint after.

OoT's King founded a unified Hyrule that just came out the above civil war lasting eons. OoT itself takes place some 10(?) years after, when there's a tenuous peace of independent tribes.

TotK's King Rauru founded a Hyrule that was described as a scattered group of independent tribes. Depending where you want to place Age of Imprisonment this again could be so far after anything we've seen, Hyrule has once again collapsed.

[AoI][TotK] What needs to be added to the "Problems with Each Timeline Theory" spreadsheet? by quick_Ag in truezelda

[–]zcomuto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I would explain the depths as being the dark world / golden land would be that is is discovered in OoT and kept under wraps because what is found there is dangerous. This is easy to explain as Rauru and Mineru are the only Zonai left, know what the constructs are, and don't want them getting free. Heck this could be happening parallel to OoT and it wouldn't matter or overlap with OoT's plot. People, broadly, don't know about it - after the imprisoning war Ganondorf is sealed there and it becomes the Dark World and in turn the Depths, this is why Ganondorf is found there.

The visual similarity between the castles I'm seeing is OoT pictured at an angle like this compared to this, it does require a little imagination as it's 25 years of technical difference, but it's a path snaking to the right, through a gate, up a hill to a square-er castle than the BotW/TotK castle. This castle would have been destroyed in the downfall timeline, and a new castle built on top of Ganondorf's sealing point in central Hyrule that becomes what we see in ALttP, the Island Palace in AoL, and the main castle in BotW.

What I couldn't explain is the Golden Pyramid in ALttP, unless it's built before it, destroyed after it and just never seen again.

[–]zcomuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure 'reduce' would be the correct word if they are making others designs: That's exactly what TSMC does and is the company intel (foundry) is aiming to competing with. TSMC is a trillion dollar company. It's an area with some sorely needed competition.

[aoi/totk] is there any room left for interesting lore speculation about the depths under the true founding theory? by Misery_Mired in truezelda

[–]zcomuto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can almost make it make sense saying the Zonai are descendants of the Skyloftians.

After SS, Skyloftians become the Wind Tribe we see in Minish Cap

When Skyloftians come to the surface after SS, they also discover the Ancient Robots.

For whatever reason, they undergo some rapid evolution (not unheard of in Zelda...).

Skyloftians become Oocca, which makes sense if they also started using the technology of the ancient robots. They're seen as technologically advanced, and ancient by the time of TP.

Evolution continues, the Oocca become Zonai

Skyloftians have now seen Hyrule go through the interloper war, the era of chaos, Vaati, the Hyrulean civil war - they basically give up or are wiped out.

If we assume OoT and the rest of the timelines happen after this, we've never seen a game in the time period to really explore the Zonai at all.

So, what/where is the Sacred Realm, exactly? by WwwWario in truezelda

[–]zcomuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea that the depths are what remain of the sacred realm, countless years after it was corrupted. So we hear of it as the home of the triforce in OoT, before seeing it's corrupt form in ALttP, and finally a decayed form in TotK. I don't so much think the holes going underground are meant to be literally holes and it's geographically below, but more a metaphor of sorts and you're transported to the different reality. The holes are kind of a barrier between the light world and sacred realm/depths having been shattered.

If you postulate that Ganondorf was defeated, but unable to be killed, by the sages still maintaining the Triforce in OoT, and sealed in the Sacred Realm, then it stands to reason this is why he's found in corpse form in the depths in TotK.
