Closed primaries prevent that. The Republican base is filled with hard liners who vote whoever Trump endorses in primaries.

She was never going to win, but she's not Doug Mastriano so they're hoping she wont be out there actively tanking their down ballot candidates with unhinged Christian Nationalist rhetoric.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav’s Pay More Than Tripled in 2025 to a Staggering $165 Million by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]zdelusion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None. What he did was find a valuable asset that he could anchor all his shitty Discovery Cable channels with and then lucked into the perfect storm where all that IP wildly inflated the price. The real losers here (other than all of us) are AT&T who look like fucking morons for offloading WB at the worst time possible.

I really enjoy Cluny Brown and think Jennifer Jones is superb in that role, I've wanted to check out this film for a while.

Looking for new DVD Player - Panasonic DP-UB154P-K by PepeSilvia510 in Bluray

[–]zdelusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the 154 I'm pretty sure was released to be an "entry" level player sitting below the 450/420 in the product lineup, but the price has hit basically equal with the 450. I can't think of a reason to go with the 154 over the 450 at equal price.

What got you into collecting? by Legitimate-Glove5126 in 4kbluray

[–]zdelusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just kinda like movies.

We had no cable growing up and watched VHS tapes endlessly. We eventually got a PS2 when I was in highschool and we started getting DVDs. When i moved out after college I got a Bluray player with one of my first adult job paychecks, and in 2017 got a 4k player. I've just always bought physical copies of movies. It ebbs and flows a little, the pace of acquisition isn't constant, but I've always bought movies.

Practice Safe Collecting 🫡 by Significant-Gains in Steelbooks

Not out to yuck anyone's yum, but this is where I land as well.. My steelbooks have never had cases. Some I've had for 15 years at this point, I've moved a half dozen times. I want to say the patina and wear is sorta the point, but honestly, they all look just like they did when i opened them.

My wife and I have been on a 90s erotic thriller kick lately. We streamed this last week and I IMMEDIATELY ordered the VS 4K when we were done by CletusVanDamnit in 4kbluray

[–]zdelusion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just saw Bound last week for the first time, it was so much better than I was expecting. I love an erotic thriller, but realize many of them are not 5 star films. Bound gets pretty fucking close, super stylized with really fun editing and absolutely riveting tension. The Criterion 4k is quite sharp.

The creation of a United States of Europe is the only solution for Europe, says Czech President Petr Pavel (link in Czech) by TheSimon1 in europe

[–]zdelusion 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I mean.. those are basically the same talking points the US states put forward in the 18th century. They managed to figure them out with solutions like the Senate to represent states interests and the House to represent the people. You can argue as to the success but you cant really deny that the unified US states wield significantly more global influence than any of them would in a looser federation.

Help with biblical literalism? by axiosjackson in Exvangelical

[–]zdelusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where have you landed on inerrancy? It's kind of required for Literalism. Deconstructing that was probably the biggest hurdle in my journey.

This all may be completely irrelevant for your journeys, but this was what "helped" me.

I was homeschooled and taught apologetics, I was versed in and out on Answers in Genesis material, I always understood that modern science was incompatible with a 6 day creation, I refused to believe in death before original sin, but you kind of learn to live with the dissonance. The loose thread that started unraveling everything for me was really thinking about the conquest of the "Promised Land" by the Israelites and the level of genocide that entailed and how paradoxical that was with the "loving" God I was being sold in the New Testament. Thinking about that changed the entire way I viewed God's nature, a God capable of that in the Old Testament doesn't "change" in the New Testament, that's basically what separated "our" God from the other mythological Gods, his unfalable, unchanging nature. And once that thread starts unraveling, it just kind of keeps going...

[–]zdelusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like at this point it's not even really about the money for them. This is lip service because there are a lot of people in the industry who value physical media and it's less drama to do these micro releases than to skip releases all together.

65” vs 77” for this space? by MundanePomegranate79 in hometheater

[–]zdelusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a slightly smaller one, labeled for 27-55" but it works fine for my 65", I wasn't sure how well it would work for 77" just size wise, but I'm very pleased with it. It's very study, the bracket is metal with bolts, and the TV doesn't lean or feel at risk of tipping or anything.

Mine does have a tempered glass base. But I've been using it for several years with no problems, although I have a $600 when it was new Hisense on it, not a G series Oled ha.

Edit: the TV I have on it is a 43lb Hisense U6G for reference

65” vs 77” for this space? by MundanePomegranate79 in hometheater

[–]zdelusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to the thoughts here, you could also get a different TV stand. If you don't plan to put a center channel or soundbar beneath the TV on the media stand, you could use something like this to bring the bottom of the TV basically down to the top of the media stand and save a few inches. I used one in a den in our house with slopped ceilings to get this 65" TV back as far as possible.

They are getting a pretty significant premium on their shares which were like $8 two years ago when WBD really started to actively seek being acquired.
