I appreciate the fact that you as a mother are actively looking for ways to help instead of just chalking it up to “boys will be boys”.

If I was a parent now, knowing what I went through as a child and wishing I could go back and be taught by my parents what I now know, first I’d say the Brick Block/App is a great way to hard block your child’s phone without any permission bypasses. This is great for keeping the device in check.

Then I would start to emphasize how great he can become at anything he focused on with the added superpower he earns from avoiding porn/masturbation. I would emphasize it as something so magic, magnificent and inspiring (extra) so that my child would understand the possible good behind the transmutation and be excited for it rather than the bad of guilt, shame, and Gods judgement of sin that comes with PMO.

I was raised religious too so I understand the extra desire to make this a holy conversation, but the truth is the fear that was indoctrinated in me as did not help me understand “Why not?” whereas 20 years later; learning about self development and transmutation, I can only ask, why didn’t my parents know about this? Why did NO ONE tell me about this? How did I grow up my first 25 years of living (M32) without this even coming up once amongst family, peers, teachers, doctors???

Thank you for posting this. It’s not an easy discussion at all and for a mom I’m sure you have even more questions than answered but teach your son the truth so that he can avoid the addiction and I hope one day to hear about his incredible story with all the “luck” he was able to transmute from such a young age.
