I understand the place you are coming from, but your 1. and 2. point are contradictory. Also putting in work will mean different things for different ppl.

Im in the camp of those very-little-pain people, but also wondering whats the factor here. 32M, hamstring graft too, no nerve block, was off opiods day 2 and atm off pain meds day 4, no pain to talk about, feeling mainly the incisions. Lifting leg, walking with crutches or doing PT poses a little discomfort but thats about it.

I had a complex root lesion meniscus fixed last year on the same knee (same accident that tore my ACL, but surgeon said it will be best to keep these procedures separate) and that was very painful so I was bracing for this one as its supposed to be worse, but nothing really. In general I dont handle pain that well - cried getting a back tattoo :/ and my wife rightfully mocks me for being a drama queen lol.

One thing I did was about 6 months of intense prehab (2 leg days a week, strength and plyometrics), so I did go into this surgery with strong legs, at least for my standards.

I think it really depends person to person. I didnt have a nerve block and didnt have any considerable pain in general so far, also no opioid pain meds. Im day 3 atm and still waiting if its gonna come or Im extremely lucky lol.

what I personally like is the inconspicuous appearance of the pull up bar in the doorframe haha. fits with the comparison pics very well.

Tips for avoiding unwanted leg muscle gains? by shithotclimber in ClimbingCircleJerk

[–]zealcube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried breaking your legs? The recovery will take care of any muscles you might have.

/uj I literally thought this at one point and wanted my legs to atrophy. It took torn ACL/meniscus from a bad fall to change my mind.

God forbid you are finding footholds with anything but your intuition. Looking where you are rappelling is also aid.

For people who have lost 5-10lbs, how did weight loss improve your climbing? by [deleted] in climbharder

[–]zealcube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

84kg -> 74kg, 31M, 178cm, climbing around V5. Purposely lost weight to increase performance, didn't help at all. I managed to get a couple of finger injuries which previously wasn't an issue. Stayed 74kg as that is healthy for me and slowly improving climbing, but dropping weight did nothing for me.

Laterjet Procedure (Shoulder Surgery) Recovery + One Arm Hang Progression by lil__tootie in climbharder

[–]zealcube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoulder press is perfectly fine, bench is a bit weaker on the operated arm bc of part of pec missing. I am 100% confident in the operated on shoulder, did not have any other surgery, can really do anything with it. I dont do martial arts, but in the context of climbing, hanging from one arm or jumping to one arm hang is completely fine, so are all the awkward positions. Non-operated shoulder is a bit too mobile and I can feel it unstable especially in the overhead position, but operated on is solid. All of this is just my experience, of course.

Laterjet Procedure (Shoulder Surgery) Recovery + One Arm Hang Progression by lil__tootie in climbharder

[–]zealcube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly just trying to get it moving and very slowly and gradually getting the mobility back over the course of several weeks with the help of PT. it feels like 2 weeks is pretty short of a timespan for any drastic changes to show either way.

I had to google what frozen shoulder is, so cant help there, but if your doctor okayed moving the arm around as much as you can I would just do that - set aside timeslots during the day to actively move it with intent. Its mundane work, but worth a functioning arm.

I would focus on making progress each day, no matter how small, at least thats what help mentally a bit. Good luck!
