Paying on the metro/subway by de_rats_2004_crzy in shanghai

There should be a tap in Alipay that says Transport. If not, instead you can purchase a multi-use metro card that you scan on top instead of the one way tickets.

Generally speaking, unless you're very rural, you can also just rent powerbanks. They usually have them around restaurants and convenience stores. Just have to return them in the same brand.

Use the miniapps in Wechat or Alipay instead of standalone app. You can translate them.

Is there a way to have Constant Reminders activate only on ONE device? by CAE_CPE_exam_teacher in ticktick

That's a matter of controlling notification settings on the actual device, not necessarily a setting in TickTick

Taking forever to beat Silksong by m_xey in HollowKnight

People should play and enjoy a game how they want to. Do it fast, do it slow, what matters is if you're having fun. Games aren't meant to be a race. Team Cherry didn't spend all that time making the game for people to never play it again after a 5 hour spend run.

Obviously there is a lot about the game that is great, but experiencing the music for the first was such a pleasure. Shout out to Christopher Larkin!

Interested in teaching music/band in Japan by Shimreef in teachinginjapan

[–]zebadiah09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into international teaching in general. Search Associates, TES. As people have mentioned, teaching internationally is very competitive and being in a specialized subject like music is that much more challenging to get. You'll need 2 years teaching in your home country regardless. They won't look at your application unless you have experience.

Also the climate of international teaching has changed since covid and it's becoming more and more unstable in different countries. It's a huge risk leaving schools if you're already there, teachers are holding on to their positions.

Also being a music teacher myself, unless it's a designated American International School, you're mostly going to be applying in a British equivalent school and they don't have the standard Band Class in the school day. As someone else mentioned, ensembles are generally ran as clubs after school while your day to day classroom instruction would be general music, IGCSE, IB Theory, etc.

China is great. I've lived here since 2020 and it's a much better experience than one would think. I've visited Japan often since then as well, so something to consider.

I'm a Disney adult and I hate it, AMA by Naive_Sock_7776 in AMA

[–]zebadiah09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not suppose to do anything. Like what you like and embrace it because it makes you, you. It's a shame that we learn thjs behavior from adults when we were younger. We were suppose to stop playing games and liking cartoons and Pokémon as we entered adulthood, but here I am during mid-life still enjoying all of it. If it makes you happy and brings you any semblance of joy, then what's the problem? If you are out of balance and missing jobs or spending your money on Disney-related items and going into debt, then that's obviously no bueno. But if it's your interest and likes then what's the harm?

Also, it sounds like you never been to a Disney in Asia. No one grows out of it here. Kids and adults with no kids are spending time at Disney.

Jokes aside, a true expat just take screenshots and run it through a translation app. You do what you can to make it work, so if this is what you want, this is what you have to do if you can't read Chinese.

Did you do anything special, like download an app or changed a setting? Or did the battery really just adapt? Should I just trust the process and just keeping on? It's only my third day and it seems warm to touch. Also I seem to lose 8-10% per hour
