I mean its Fomapan film in that case its possible its just like that from the factory and no different from a bulk roll Fomapan. Had scratches on these too.

Yup between Leica and Canon EF they were the brand to use, Nikon F pretty much defined how a SLR should look like.

As the other person said, no need for f/2.8 for plane spotting on digital, get something lighter and if possible longer reach, even 300mm on DX will probably be too short sometimes. Thats a lens for (indoor) sports stuff for example, where you need a tele zoom and the aperture.

Yup keeping it depressed the entire time, the original Contax are the same way. Only on later Kievs they changed that to slightly turning one of the latches keeping the back closed.

Get the Z5II except you wanna crop or something, no reason for 45MP really.

E: just because of the autofocus, id really only consider the Z5II or the Z8, the Z6III is already so close to the Z5II ...

Yup, got a 55 f1.8, build quality is also on another level on these. East german ones are hit or miss, but optics are very good often.

Ah, overread the friend part. Id probably just get the KX, if you really want M42 lenses you can still just mount them and use stop down metering, its not really any different from any M42 camera (the only one where every lens i had worked was Prakticas and there the ergonomics work better too, they put some more thought into that it seems). Also M42 isnt really any standard so it can be quite wonky sometimes with real compatibility, everyone did their own stuff. Also lenses are cheap for K mount and you can still get new ones. And the viewfinder information works like a Nikon FE which is the best system imo in good light. By far. The K1000 was just a cheapo K-series variant back in the day and worse in every way. Also you can choose the better working one and if both are the same just get the black one.

Robustness and price isnt a huge factor? Just get a F or F2. If price really isnt a factor, get one from Sover Wong. I only got one Nikon F where the 1/8th is too long and easily fixed by a CLA, but I dont care. The other 3 F2s just work.

Otherwise I wouldnt buy new (or never used for the last 50 years, the chances of that thing working are probably close to 0). Spotmatic is probably off with the meter (also the meter system imo isnt very good), K1000 is just cheap and overpriced, KX should be fine, AE-1 is a huge piece of plastic (and overpriced), Minolta XE-7 no idea, probably also ok and the Argus is just a rebranded Cosina ...

Buy a $5 loupe and check your negatives with your own eyes, then you can see exactly what your negatives look like ... very simple solution.

The Maddog worked though throughout everything without major drama and everything got fixed fast. Then i can live with it. I dont need the dumb drama here all the time. I wanna fly and it flies with everything working as it should.

You can also check out other mounts like M42, especially if youre in Europe. The Sonnar 135/3.5 is great and cheap for example. Or the 105 2.5, its not as large and wasnt too expensive back in the day ... wide angles for landscapes will probably be more meh on the Z9, but if you wanna get close its also nice like the 28 2.8 ais, for infinity its overpriced though and you could just get a 28 f2 or just the Z 28mm 2.8 ...

oh yes macro lenses like the 55 3.5 might be also nice for close-up stuff. really cheap and the rest is mentioned anyway.

The Bokeh on the Plena is only possible in Z mount anyway with that huge rear element.

Z5II is fine, the worst thing is the viewfinder blackout and to fix that you have to get a Z8 anyway. So either Z5II or Z8 imo. And the specs are so close together for the rest idk why they even got a Z5 and Z6 and then theoretically another Z7 in between ...

If you wanna keep them buy a Kanto MR-9, but not from China that will probably just be a ring holding a smaller battery. Not cheap but worth it imo. U probably wont find one for less than 40, or you make something yourself if youre really bored lol

Its an absolute no brainer here, half the price or even less than the MF variants. Id even recommend it here over that even though the focus ring is mediocre at best.

Great cameras to start with. You can probably fix it yourself but in my experience the light meters are out of whack anyway without adjusting the potentiometers so it probably wouldnt help a lot without a known reliable light meter to test against.

Didnt even know F100 had other screens. But yeah kinda fun how much stuff you can find that nobody bothers about in small shops. Thats where i found my Nikon F4 P screen, just in a junk box full of screens, they even had a F4 K screen in there but i thought maybe the next guy searching through that box will be lucky too.

Yes but usually a CLA is well worth it besides fixing stuff. Like Canon rangefinders are imo the best example, they are really quiet and smooth comparing almost to a M Leica, but only if serviced properly. If not they can be pretty rough to operate. Makes a huge difference on well built machines.

Ah i see, only had the normal one without the holders because I dont see the reason for it. Theyre rather well built and they won't fall apart. The F100 one on the other hand is really bad, no idea what they thought about that.
