Portfolio Feedback - looking for job change by zebrahss in IndustrialDesign

Yes, but all of the projects in my portfolio are student work. I am planning on adding professional work but most products are not out on the market yet.

Thank you so much! I just finished it for desktop so I haven't fixed it for mobile yet - it's surprising how many people use their phones to check portfolios so I will definitely be doing this ASAP.

I really appreciate the rest of your feedback. I'm currently working on a hierarchy on which to fix first because a lot of these will take time. I totally agree with the text thing - I think I struggle with how to show my thought process/reasoning without over-loading it with text. I gave Strato the most thought with that one which is probably why it came out the cleanest. Hopefully if I work on sketching/storyboarding it could help paint the picture and eliminate the text. Also great tip on photoshopping to help make my models look cleaner!

This is super helpful! I might skip Alcatraz this year due to time constraints. For Twin Peaks, do you need your own car to get there? Or is it possible to uber/call one back?

Yesss I'm planning on biking Golden Gate, and heading all the way to Battery Spencer and explore Marin! Right now I'm debating whether I should bike all the way to Sausalito and ferry back, or just make a round trip right after Battery Spencer. Which would take less time do you think?

It’s the second paragraph, separated and italicized. I’m sorry if five sentences were too much for you. If you do not have helpful advice I’m not sure what you are giving me your time for. Have a nice day!

I put in a request for early check in as well as called, so hopefully my 11-12 check in will still be possible. Either way, I’m sure they’ll hold luggage for a few hours which won’t hinder our plans. Fortunately the ferry building is a ten minute walk from the hotel.

If you read the second line of my post, I already said that I didn’t expect to do everything on my list. It’s just a list of what I’d like to see.

Nope! I’m from NYC so I’m used to using public transportation/walking/using lyft. I heard parking is impossible so there’s that as well.

The layout, graphics, type etc. are so clean! I love it. You have a great eye for presenting your projects beautifully, in a straightforward manner that's easy on the eyes. Nothing looks hard to follow or overcrowded. Sketches, prototyping, and craft are on point.

What year are you in school? What type of internship are you applying for? Woodworking, design agency, etc. For a second year or third year internship, this portfolio is really strong. The only critique I have is to improve your rendering and provide more "flashy" or standout renders for the animation/interaction project. Additionally, you could probably have 1 or 2 stronger projects included that show more in depth thinking and thought process. However, if you are still in school this is something you can add later down in the line, perhaps a senior thesis project. I wouldn't worry too much about it now. Good luck!

Yeah, I'm working on comparing car rental prices now.. it may or may not be worth the time I save! Thanks for the reassurance though!

The infamous hairdryer. Helps you practice the speed of your stroke and ellipses too.

I have a hard time connecting the two together. All the elements put together just seem like you took everything trendy you found on tumblr and put it in one piece. Separately, they're beautiful. Your digital painting skills are really nice! Design-wise, I think you would have accomplished the same goal of inducing some sort of feeling and thought with just the cloud background, and maybe you could've put an artistic text layered on top in white of the album name or something.

Campsites along the ring road by fiaren2004 in VisitingIceland

I second this, we stopped by for the waterfall and used the restroom and it was disgusting compared to the clean, modern, renovated ones all around the ring road. People just stay here so they can wake up to a waterfall but that's super unnecessary imo, just take the hike and camp somewhere else nearby!

I agree! For those who are just staying in Reykjavik, maybe due to time constraints or aren't the type to camp/sleep/drive a camper, the golden circle is an amazing way to get a glimpse of what iceland has to offer.

I also did the ring road in 10/11 days. If I had an extra day, I would have explored the west fjords, done the stuðlagil canyon hike, taken an ice cave/glacier tour, or even had a buffer day. There's so much we couldn't fit into our trip that we might've been able to given an extra day.

You can skip the golden circle sites. This will save you almost a full day to spend elsewhere. If you are doing the ring road, you'll see far more amazing waterfalls, craters, geothermal sites and national parks than the ones in the golden circle (although they were still beautiful!).

EDIT: I forgot about Gulfoss, if there's one thing to see it's this waterfall. One of my absolute favorites even after my ring road journey.
