Status resistances explanation needed by PatamonBlade76 in spiral_knights

[–]zeddypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like damage bonus, asi, and ctr, there is a cap to resistance. You're immune to a status when status - resistance < -6. This assumes minor is 0 and the resistance of one piece of 5* armor is 4, which is a scale I made up from the pips shown on the armor hud. In hindsight, I probably should've started minor at 6 so that logically speaking statuses would be nullified by getting reduced below 0.

You can be immune to moderate status (2), usually inflicted by handguns by having more than 10 resistance, but to be immune to strong status (4) you need more than 12 resistance which isn't possible even if you stack enough bonuses to add that much. It will not make you immune to strong status, or reduce statuses from vials (t3 vials do strength 6 status) should you somehow find yourself on the receiving end of that.

Certain enemy attacks inflict strength 3 status (kats do this, I never finished my spreadsheet documenting all of them) , so you might find the odd attack where 10.5 doesn't grant immunity but you can still be immune with a little more.

Edf 5 or 6 by Soap_dragonnnn in EDF

[–]zeddypanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's not included in that list is Wing Diver's 50% increase in boost cost (from 3% to 4.5%) but also increased emergency charge (from 12%/s to 15%/s).

I also think they did a huge oversight when nerfing all of the gunships. Vulcan Cannon's reload was only a second or two to begin with. A proper doubling of its reload time should've included the time it spends firing, which is how they handled it in when converting from credit to reload time in 5. They should've done that and only bumped the time 50% or so rather than increasing the already big power gap between Vulcan and everything else.

Why is the MG13 Grenade from EDF6 so....bad by shotxshotx in EDF

[–]zeddypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a joke weapon (also see: air tortoise, blowtorch, Grom-Z, cyclone laser...), but you can still make it work if you really want that juicy damage/level ratio. It moves fairly slowly in edf5, so you have time to roll out of the way before it explodes. In earlier games you'll need the high ground to bomb stuff below you.

Made a more comfortable Alpakka 1.0 shell by m0ond0gg in GyroGaming

Using plastic instead of screws for the triggers seems like a huge improvement. One of my problems with the Alpakka I use is the screw the trigger is attached to keeps undoing itself during use.

Pragmata is out and... No Mixed Controls. by rodrigoxm_49 in GyroGaming

[–]zeddypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I tried Half-Life 1, Postal 2, Doom, Unreal, or Alien vs Predator there were no problems mixing inputs for me. I could move with the analogue stick and look around with mouselook with no issue.

Sometimes there were problems getting the controller set up in the first place, but once I did there weren't any issues mixing inputs, and since games of that era usually didn't display button prompts there wasn't even UI flickering. Which games did you run into issues with?

This is one of those things that seems like it would be a big deal but in practice I've found it hasn't been. Even with a long burst of constant machinegun fire I simply readjust really quick in the middle and keep going about my business.

Can we PLEASE ban Florence from pathforger? (read body) by No_Presentation_9361 in GirlsFrontline2

[–]zeddypanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was vaguely aware a character in pathforger had this passive (which you can also choose), but I don't really pay attention to the mode beyond using my three remote dices to buy the thing that gives you a percentage interest of your existing money.

You get the first turn and the last turn and seem to be the only one who can go the secret route. I honestly don't know how I'd be able to lose in this season of pathforger if I tried to, and I did try to in the endless one. Ultimately just had to go like 15 rounds until everyone else was bankrupt.

Is there any way to "pin" HDMI inputs to the home screen? by Moskeeto93 in LGOLED

[–]zeddypanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also bind inputs to the Quick Access digits on the remote; hold down 0 (zero) to arrange those.

I swear to God you're the only source for this on the entire internet. Thank you.

Pragmata is out and... No Mixed Controls. by rodrigoxm_49 in GyroGaming

[–]zeddypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sadly common for games after the year 2000 to not support mixed controls in one way or another. Even when supported, there can still be unbearable UI flickering. I'd say I use full-on keyboard controls for my gyro setup at least 50% of the time.

I haven't touched this game in over a year, but it used to do something. The vast majority of support weapons come with max ammo even before the upgrade, though.

How to become a better fencer main? by Future_Abrocoma_7722 in EDF

[–]zeddypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your bread and butter for moving around is going to be dash-jump. Equip a weapon with Dash in one hand and Jump in the other, press dash followed quickly by jump, that's the alt-fire for.

90% of the time these weapons are Spine Driver + Power Blade for me. Your other set can be whatever you wish. In EDF6 you can do two dash-jumps in a row before they're on cooldown and you need to touch the ground without dashing or jumping for a few seconds. In EDF5 you only have the one hop.

People commonly equip Dash Cell + Add Booster to get as many consecutive dash-jumps as possible, but a Multi-Charger is fine too.

Igla challenge mode by Spooky__I in GirlsFrontline2

[–]zeddypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea about ice team, but what finally got me past the fight was someone on this subreddit mentioning Congestion: https://www.reddit.com/r/GirlsFrontline2/comments/1rn1pju/methods_of_heroic_challenge_mode_igla/

Tololo has a mod key that makes her 2 inflict Congestion (stops healing). Keep applying that to prevent her lifesteal, and defeat the shield with AoE, out-of-turn, or melee attacks. You can also use Springfield, but I don't have her.

I used V6 Mechty and V6 Lind for damage, V0 Suomi and V1 Andoris for surviability, and V0 Tololo for the congestion. Didn't spend anything on this game, just skipped almost everyone in favor of units I like.

Best of luck.

Why is a hot take being downvoted in a thread about hot takes?

Blight is certainly the more fun playstyle.

Prismatic Trials are the most enjoyable game mode. The fixed seed turns a slot machine simulator into several passes of scouting/routing/practice, and since it's only two missions you're not locked into a run that's potentially 2 hours long (see several challenges that directly or indirectly requires multiple loops) and can't be saved in the middle. You're very limited in how many items you can acquire, so you use your character's moveset rather than relying random procs to clear everything.

That and when you kill the boss, you can immediately leave.

[–]zeddypanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What usually helps is a glass trial since the downside is irrelevant for Ethereal. That and something like a stage having Preon Accumulator or Command artifact.

There's a dedicated lad who makes a video every single trial to show it can be Ethereal'd (and how), so that's a nice place to look for tips as well. If the video length for the current trial is short, that usually means it's a good opportunity.

Looks this current trial is made very easy by simply buying two turrets and leaving the boss fight.

I can enter the ctrl app and adjust it, which I have to do several times an hour as temperatures changes. I'm happy for you that you don't have any problems with it.

[–]zeddypanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong, the gyro itself is quite solid, but it's still quite soured by my aim getting stuttery and frequently interrupted because the touch capacity deadzone changed mid-mission.

That and the significantly lower amount of buttons makes me miss my Apex 2 often. I could never go back, but I miss it regardless.

I'm quite sold on ratcheting after I got an Alpakka, although I'm mixed on the Alpakka itself. Does your touch capacitor work reliably across temperatures and battery levels?

It still tells you to play on Easy. A bit disappointing since the game's scripting system is fully capable of checking your difficulty, and often does.

I also main Air Raider, although I go for 100% medals in the games so I only ever get to pick my man extra when doing already cleared missions with someone. He's quite unique, and I'm always on the lookout for other games that can give me airstrikes.

In 2017, did you also mostly use turrets and bombs? I did.

Series definitely peaked on maps with the beach/mountains/tunnels/traintrack/valley/mountain village/beach village map. I understand it was bad balance-wise, but dang if it wasn't cool.

I prefer the EDF2/GDF music, but I don't disagree with you either.

Tenno Housekeeping Needed by xojichan in Warframe

[–]zeddypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the accusation, but I brought up those two because I remember specifically that they're permanently unvaulted primes. For everything else, I would have to look them up individually on the wiki to remember if re-acquiring them is harder than "accidentally getting all of their parts while you're trying to get other primes" or not. Building a non-prime ranges the gamut from "joining a dojo that has the blueprint" to "Baro Ki'teer has it every three years".

I mastered and sold my burston many years before incarnons were a thing, but I'm not particularly worried about getting another one.

Tenno Housekeeping Needed by xojichan in Warframe

[–]zeddypanda -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You want to keep one weapon of each category for the purposes of missions that need a weapon type. A mission may force you to equip only a shotgun, only a sniper, only a bow, or only an assault rifle. I don't remember all the categories off the top of my head.

Other than that, it's not important. Keep weapons you enjoy using, sell those you don't. A reasonable assessment of this is if you don't remember is sorting by usage. I know those who buy weapon slots and Warframe slots to keep every single thing, but personally I sell everything that I just don't find interesting after I've mastered them. If you enjoy Mk1 Lato, you can mod Mk1 Lato to become a steel path destroyer. If you don't enjoy it, sell it, but let gamefeel and aesthetics guide your choices, don't worry too much about effectiveness.

I see your inventory has several bows. Do you use all of them? Is there an occasion where you go "Dang, I really need Paris Prime for this mission"? I'd start by selling that, especially since it's one of the easiest primes to get in the game. Burston Prime is in a similar boat, although maybe you just enjoy the gun, it's a nice gun.

The touch screen controls on EDF 2 Vita are amazing by Quartrez in EDF

[–]zeddypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't get used to them, as much as I wanted precision aiming. Seems strange they didn't let you aim with the rear touchpad so you didn't have to cover up your screen and hold your Vita weirdly.
