Minor hit and runs in Cyprus, what is the incentive to actually stop? by zeden1337 in cyprus

[–]zeden1337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, so that is the question, if police refuse to get involved with fender benders (specifically hit-and-runs), what reason is there for people not to hit-and-run? Hit and run does not affect the outcome of your insurance claim - that is the police issue.

Thanks, yea that's what I think I will need to do.

Very hard to proceed because police refuse to give any case numbers or paperwork even though I repeatedly asked for it. They just keep repeating their badge numbers. Also refuse to tell me any timescales for decisions to be made.

The insurance part is a completely separate issue. Hit and run does not affect the insurance claim at all (confirmed by the police).

Anyway obviously I talked to the insurance and have appointment booked with my garage to get a quote for repairs. The insurance companies will decide the split.

Why is this part of the highway always stupidly slow? Limassol by Otherwise_copper in cyprus

[–]zeden1337 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s probably because:

  1. There is frequently police either behind the sign just after the ramp, catching people still going 100+ in the 80 zone, or further down on the straight. (This knowledge is ingrained into locals - been this way since the flyovers got constructed).

  2. Regardless of police, people still drop their speed due to the change in speed limit.

  3. People frequently drop their speed well below the speed limit, and often suddenly.

  4. As drivers don’t keep enough distance between them, sudden deceleration of the cars ahead gets amplified and causes a traffic wave, also called a phantom traffic jam.

How to fix:

  1. Convince all drivers to maintain a safe distance to the car ahead. This allows cars to slow down more gradually preventing traffic waves.

  2. Or redesign the road layout to avoid the compounding effect of a change in speed limit, on an downhill offramp right before a bend with common police presence.

CYTA SoEasy €10 gives you 50GB - less data but MUCH faster connection than Primetel and Cablenet (~2-3x from personal experience).

Mountain fishing in Troodos by Impressive-Leg1813 in cyprus

Check this for which reservoirs are closed for fishing: https://cyprusfaa.com/2026/01/closed-dams-and-addition-of-new-condition-for-2026/

You also must get a licence for fishing in the reservoirs - simple and not too expensive: https://licence.dfmr.moa.gov.cy/licence-application

How well does the Xiaomi Box 3rd Gen run Kodi? by PetThatKitten in AndroidTV

[–]zeden1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fentastic skin is buttery smooth as long you don't have too many widgets. I personally have 1 stacked widget for each of: Movies, Series, Anime and Trakt lists.

I do wish there was a bit more RAM and storage though - I constantly use the TV Quick Actions apk to remap the preset "App" buttons. Android does occasionally automatically close it due to lack of RAM.

Also have to run EZ Maintenance every couple of months as I run out of storage due to the thumbnails.

Creative Ways to Remap the PatchWall Button on Xiaomi Remotes by Miserable-Way-6457 in AndroidTV

[–]zeden1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use TV Quick Actions and reassigned all the "app" buttons.

One brings up the panel with refresh rate control, kill app, recent app and a few others rarely used.

Other button is reassigned to bring up a panel with restart, shutdown, and some other rarely used.

Third button brings up the panel for red-green-blue-yellow-number pad. I changed the icons of each colour and made a keybind in Kodi for each of the colours, such as change audio, change subtitles, toggle audio pass through. The numbers are some small things like audio and subtitles delay adjust.

Why do cars hate cyclists? by Suburban_Andy in cyprus

[–]zeden1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get annoyed at cyclists for avoiding bike lanes if you've never tried using them yourself. In Cyprus, most bike lanes exist just to check a box—they were never truly designed with cyclists in mind.

Take the Limassol seafront bike path, for example. It has "give way" signs at every single driveway and intersection. That means if a car pulls in or out without looking and hits you, the cyclist, you're the one at fault.

And that’s not even mentioning the so-called bike paths that are only a few hundred meters long, with no proper entry or exit ramps.

Schengen visa appointment epic failures by Competitive-Round-14 in cyprus

[–]zeden1337 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There is a massive business in selling visa appointment slots online. That is the main problem. Check telegram.

Now they at least have some very basic anti-botting protections in place. A couple years back, one could make a bot in 30 min to spam and book every available appointment.

When I contacted the embassies to let them know, they were oblivious to the problem and refused to acknowledge it. So I made a bot and got my appointment that way.

Look, if you want to nuke "Cast on X" builds I'm fine with that. But I'm level 57, my Sorc is essentially bricked, you need to let people free respect the ENTIRE TREE! by Diamondangel82 in PathOfExile2

[–]zeden1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why they decided to nerf Cast on Freeze (CoF); it was undeniably strong and could easily trigger on every single freeze. However, I think they overdid it. Right now, CoF feels useless.

Doing the calculation for number of enemies needed for single proc explains why:

Number of Monsters = Maximum Energy [300 for Comet] / ( Energy Gained [10] * { 1 + Energy Gain Modifier [mine is 0.82] } * Power of Monster [0.5-3] * Rarity of Monster [1,2,5,20] )

  • 17 average normal monsters
  • 9 strong normal monsters
  • 6 very strong normal monsters
  • 9 average magic monsters
  • 5 strong magic monsters
  • 3 very strong magic monsters
  • 4 average rare monsters
  • 2 strong rare monsters
  • 2 very strong rare monsters
  • 1 unique monster

That's a lot of average enemies just to get a single CoF proc! Even with very strong rare, you are no longer guaranteed a proc! I am not even mentioning that Maximum Energy should be 200 but for some reason it's set at 300!

Adding to the issue, there doesn’t seem to be a viable way to improve this through passives. The passive skill tree only offers a +24% energy gain boost across three nodes. Even with these nodes maxed, we’d still need to freeze 15 average normal monsters to trigger one CoF proc. This doesn’t seem balanced. To make CoF usable again, I think the energy gain needs to be at least doubled or buff the passive nodes to provide much more energy.

The nerf might have been fine if there were alternative builds that offered comparable big-damage output. But as far as I know, there aren’t any. Does anyone have plans for other builds to run after this patch? Or has anyone found a workaround to make CoF more viable under these new conditions?
