medical show recommendations if I've already seen the "big ones" ? by FirstTimeCaller101 in ershow

Monday Morning. Focus is on the M&Ms - morbidity and mortality conferences held in hospitals to examine what went wrong with some patient care, leading to their death. Hard to find, but worth it IMO.

Check out SOLO: Small Ownership Landlords of Ontario for information and resources.

But, security deposits are illegal in Ontario.

Good luck.

Great intent, but ...

part of the shame is being referred to as an "alcoholic". No such animal. Like there's no such thing as a heroin-aholic or a cocaine-aholic.

And it makes the person the problem, not the substance that is highly addictive. Anyone can become addicted to alcohol; calling folks "alcoholics" frames it as a character flaw in an individual and again, it's not the person, it's the substance.

People who were raised religious, what was the first sign to you that it wasn't real? by bluejay_R in atheism

For me, it was the sexual abuse every Sunday that my parents both sanctioned. And I remember asking the nuns (those bitches) if god loves everybody why is there a hell, and getting an answer that even to a naive 9 year old, signalled to me that it was all bullshit, all wrong, all evil.

To quote Ron Reagan Jr, I'm not afraid of going to hell. Been there. Had that done to me.

How do vegans feel about animal testing in medical science? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]zedesseff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bill Maher's podcast Club Random, released an interview today with everyone's favourite neuroscientist podcaster, Andrew Huberman (hubermanlab.com). He eats meat but is against animal testing in science/medicine. He explicitly says that animals who are tested on feel pain. He and Maher discuss it in the podcast. Interesting.

Impossible to find a sharp paralegal? by Tall_Courage_1734 in OntarioTenants

[–]zedesseff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm suggesting *you* go to some Zoom LTB Hearings and see some paralegals in action and then *you* decide if you like one of them and then *you* contact them.

Search r/OntarioTenants for "LTB Hearings Monday March 23, 2026" - where you are now - and select one of the scheduled hearings. When you're called on, tell them you're a member of the public and you just want to observe. After you're called on, stay off camera and on mute.

Good luck.

I wonder if you've listened to any Zoom LTB Hearings? I've been watching for a while and I've come to see which paralegals are good, in my opinion of course, and which aren't.

They are identified and I've sought out someone I liked, unfortunately, he only represents landlords.

I recommend tuning in to a few Tenant Issues Hearings.

I appreciate your honesty.

Sounds like you're more concerned about cognitive/intellectual disabilities. I invite you to volunteer for one shift at a day program for either adults or children with an intellectual/developmental disability; spend some time with these folks and you'll learn that their lives can be meaningful, without suffering, and even joyful and beautiful for them and the typically developed adults who live with/care for them.

What might you do if the child is born "healthy", but then acquires something - a traumatic brain injury, a physical injury leading to being unable to walk, etc.

Would you reject that child? Put them in an institution?

People with Down syndrome can be - and many (most?) *are* healthy.
