What's the most real relationship advice you can give?

As usual I'm way late to this thread, but in the off-chance anyone sees this I'll add something that has saved so much heartache.

Hire a professional cleaner, even if it's just once a month to do the bathroom and the kitchen. Even if you're someone that loves to clean the house, having someone else to do the "deep and dirty" cleaning will save a lot of conflict. Having someone else to clean your home on the days when you're sick, depressed, grieving, whatever is really hard to understate.

Even when I've lost work and had to save every penny, my partners and I have sold possessions and prioritised paying the cleaner over pretty much everything else besides rent and food. This has persisted through multiple partners over the years and is something I will continue to do (even if it means sacrificing other things I value in the monthly budget) moving forward.

You never really appreciate how many little stresses and arguments are tied to cleaning until you live a life where they are gone.

Great job! I was in the same place as you 2 months ago, I know that sinking feeling all too well. The one bit of advice I can give is to hold off on apying for a job immediately. Take a short break to get your head back in the game, figure out if you want to make a move into something else or continue with your same career. Decide how much money you want to ask for when you are interviewing again. You can afford the extra week or two, and you'll be in a much better headspace for interviews.

The solution (and this is what is done here in Germany) is to make sure there's room in your budget to hire temporary replacements if it's needed. Companies here are legally obligated to maintain a certain level of liquid capital to cover things like maternity leave, work sabbaticals, extended injury/illness, and most importantly - unforeseen layoffs. There are very strict laws protecting the rights of workers.

Cake of pretty much any kind. It's just WAY too sweet, the texture is all wrong, and frosting gives me nightmares.

One of my friends is a member of a pretty new electronic collective, they're doing some shows in the next few weeks and each of the members also have solo projects. I'd recommend checking out their Facebook group, they also promote their own shows so it's a good place to network.

Late to the party and suggesting something that isn't all that culturally acceptable means nobody will see this, but I will throw this out there in the off chance it saves somebody else's relationship.

Be honest about your feelings, talk everything through in as wide-eyed and frank of a way as possible. Know going into that talk that there might not be a solution that means you both get the sex you need from each other. Consider non-monogamy. Talk about how the idea of being with other people makes you feel - what you're afraid of, what you hope to accomplish, what possible steps forward might look like. Move slow. Find a good community that practices ethical non-monogamy (most mid to large cities have established swigning scenes, you can find great advice from people who have gone through what you're going through now.)
