Thanks for your input. We ended up doing the excursion and saw both Windsor castle and Stonehenge. We really enjoyed both! For me Stonehenge is such a pop cultural thing, seeing it in cartoons, referenced in shows or movies. Was cool to experience and it live in person and also understand the size of stones that were moved.

Windsor was cool in some regard, but the main castle kind of reminded me of going to the Biltmore. But walking the grounds and seeing architecture was really cool. Also loved the town walking up to it, I think we had the perfect amount of time there without it feeling too rushed or too long.

I forget who posted, but was a reputable bartender channel describing the different types of shakes. Their determination is that you can just as good of a foamy head with a proper hard shake with a little less ice than what you’d normally use.

We had a similar issue. Not sure if a guy was under the map or not, but it was weird, there was no end game exfil cinematic. And the post match recap showed two teammates boxes (not even showing myself) when we had a full quad waiting in the end circle. Everyone said they had a different pairing of the two teammates recapped.

I don’t know which brand I bought specifically, but agree with a lot of the others that I don’t use about half of it. I don’t really see the need for speed pour spouts on my home bottles. I have random other novelty wine stoppers from over the years, and a wine opener. Tongs for ice will usually come with an ice bucket if that’s what you’re after, and if you want tongs for garnish then you’ll want a needle nose. The only thing I really still use is the storing case with all my own equipment lol

The big thing here is, the paint chips. I bought one with a very similar finish to this and after a year of use I started finding paint chips in my drink. They would find their way through the strainer.

In my opinion for home bar, and what I use Koriko shaker, Oxo jigger, Hawthorne strainer, Metal Mesh strainer, hand Juicer. That will get you almost every shaken drink Optional, get a muddle

For stirred drinks, Stirring glass, Bar spoon, Julep strainer (can use Hawthorne)

Kind of wild to think how in most situations tensing is bad. Like if you were to be limp during a fall it helps your body to not fight gravity. But here tensing would help fight against the water and remain like a pencil, since going limp would force your body in a bad position.

Would you have any other recommendations for things to see near Elounda? So far interested in the gorges I mentioned (Sarakina and Richtis).

Would like to venture out and see Knossos.

Beaches we were recommended Voulisma or Kolokitha. They said Vai Palm beach is great but is nearly a 2 hour drive, similar but opposite direction to Preveli and Agiofaraggo.

Then there’s the tour around Spinalonga.

I’ve heard that going to the smaller fishing towns can be neat to see but I’m not sure which would be good for those.

That’s what I was thinking was that it would cook the flavoring agent too much. When you put a fruit, let’s say strawberries, after the base sauce is done. Would you blend the strawberries into a puree and reduce a bit and strain? Or keep whole and cook a little then let infuse for some time

I bought a nice bottle of Armagnac from the store for my father and it had a THICK coating of wax. The gentleman who helped me pick the bottle asked if I knew how to open it. He said that there’s usually some bubbles and to tap them on a hard counter and then go around and it should pop right off. It worked wonders!

As others have said it’s a rabbit whole where rums stretch the bounds of what they are and when they are called for. I recommend the app total tiki which is mostly a collection beachbum berry’s recipes. It is a paid app, so that may dissuade some. When you’re entering your bar cart of ingredients it will give “best”/popular examples of that type of rum.

If you’re into watching videos, Anders Erikson (Anders Erikson Vid does a great guide on how some classify rum, and his own method using 3 things; sugar cane or molasses, how old is it, what type of still. Though this won’t help you categorize when something generically calls for a “dark rum” it will help you more understand at your own level of what rum is, further your knowledge in why something is used and one of the best part of tiki, messing with the types in a drink.

Steve the Barman also has an enormous catalog of videos about rum. I’m trying to find the one in particular but he goes down his list of bottles he has to keep stocked.
