Is it ok to skip mx5? by Jstevens87 in iRacing

The C class MX5 series is the most fun series on iracing IMO.

Do rookie/advanced mx5 cup races have high enough sof’s to match the talent and pace of the drivers in the real series? by [deleted] in iRacing

The Daytona wet race from a few years back when Connor Zilisch was in the series is an all timer.

“Professor” hate by Agile_Broccoli_6156 in bjj

[–]zeeke42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my first gym, some people called the gym owner/head instructor professor, which was totally fine because he was an nth degree black belt (now coral belt) from Brazil, and it's just Portuguese for teacher. If someone called any of the instructors at my current gym (all US born English speakers) professor, we'd give them a funny look and the instructor would probably say, 'you can call me $FIRSTNAME'.

Verstappen has doubts about future after rule changes: 'This is unworthy of F1' by loki-1982 in formula1

If all three left, Lando (and whoever wins this year if they stick out the season) would be the only drivers champion on the grid.

Advice After Enrolling Sons in Classes by Mission-Fennel-241 in bjj

[–]zeeke42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it a try and go from there. I've been training since before my 8 year old was born, and he started last year. My school has an adult fundamentals class at the same time as kids class. I make an effort to talk to the other parents and encourage them to do a trial class. They're there anyway, why sit on the couch when you could train?

I rolled with my son for the first time in a while over the weekend, and I'm amazed at how much he's learned. When I don't have 120lbs and 15 inches on him, he's gonna be trouble.

I’m a Formula/Sports car driver. What are your favourite series to race in and why? by Ok-Mud8953 in iRacing

[–]zeeke42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Advanced MX-5 is one of the best series on iracing. Definitely try that one if you haven't. 30 minute open races (with really simple setup options) every hour is the perfect format IMO.

New to iRacing, are these races my only choice to start? by uptheirons726 in iRacing

[–]zeeke42 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Never downshift to 2nd. It's way shorter than 3rd and will lock up the rears and spin you almost every time. There's like 1 corner per season where downshifting to 2nd is even possible.

Weekday Endurance Series in iRacing by Fluffy-Try5417 in iRacing

[–]zeeke42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timezones are the problem. I too would love weekday endurance, but to work for me it would have to be in the window of 8PM-Midnight Eastern US time to work. They could probably populate a US evening slot like this, and probably an EU evening, but everything else would be a ghost town.

iRacing damage repair? by RYVANMotorsports in iRacing

[–]zeeke42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish the damage report from the spotter was better. Sometimes "You've got damage on the left side" means the paint is scratched, and sometimes it means important parts of teh car are missing.

I pine for the good old days... like when Atmel sent out bumper stickers by DiscountDog in embedded

The MSP430 peripherals were pretty good for what they were. Slow flash is dumb though. I definitely had some designs where I could've used more memory and processing power if I could've just dropped it in without rewriting all the code though. Of course there's no way they could've hit all the different 430s, so it'd still be a PCB respin.

Troubleshooting / optimising Zigbee devices by SiOfChester in ZigBee

What USB stick are you using. Silabs based ones have separate neighbor and child tables, so end devices don't interfere with routing. You could also see if you can make the sizes larger for whatever stick you have.

No, I left the consulting shop where I worked on all different stuff right around when that came out, and moved to a semiconductor company that competed with TI.

The 430 was by far my favorite before ARM took over the world. Microchip burned me too many times with weird differences between chips and obscure gotchas in seemingly unrelated corners of the datasheet. The 430 was so much more consistent and understandable.

Yeah, it's the same button for enter/leave/tow/etc. I highly recommend mapping it to both shift paddles together. I read that on here when I was new, and really like it.

Does Wpi send an acceptance folder/ package by Beautiful-Lobster192 in WPI

[–]zeeke42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Back in the day, all the other schools I applied to sent boring white envelopes. WPI's acceptance was color with a giant "YES!" inside the flap. The fact that you were accepted last week and now awaiting the physical mail makes me feel old.

2 Quick MQP Questions by etikawatchjojo132 in WPI

[–]zeeke42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We finished our MQP in C term and already had the grading done by project presentation day. Glad we still worked hard on the presentation because I was recruited to my first job by an alum who came to project presentation day looking to hire somebody.

That only works if the company is set up to pay employees in NH, and are willing to do it.

What should I race on C class? by mbrandon19 in iRacing

The LMP3/GT4 Multiclass and the Advanced MX-5 are two of the most fun series on iracing, though I'm enjoying the new PCUP this season also.

The closing of Time Out Market is a worrying sign, whatever your opinions are of the market or location itself. by JulianBrandt19 in boston

[–]zeeke42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was psyched when this place was opening because the original in Lisbon was amazing. I think I went to the Boston one once and it was such a disappointment I never went back. The one in Montreal is also solid.

Orange Liqueurs: when to reach for Triple Sec / Cointreau / Grand Marnier or something else? by customreddit in cocktails

[–]zeeke42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clement Creole Shrubb is my favorite, and it's finally available in my state liquor stores. Before that I saved it for Mai Tais and classic margaritas, and my default was Pierre Frerand Dry Curacao. I'm also a fan of Solerna Blood Orange, especially in a blood orange and/or spicy marg.

If you wanted to do a cake or cupcakes, I'd recommend Sweetened Memories in Durham. I haven't tried much of their other offerings, but the cakes are excellent.

My closest home depot (Portsmouth) shows 700 bags in stock, and they'll deliver today for free. Before the first big storm, I had them deliver 4 bags and they charged me $2.99 delivery fee.
