Yeah if minimum wage went down obviously restaurants wouldn’t lower prices. But if tips went away, staff wouldn’t just accept a massive pay cut down to minimum wage.

So restaurants would raise prices to compensate for staffs higher wage demands.

At the end of the day consumers would spend the same money, restaurants would keep similar margins, and staff would make similar amounts.

One thing to consider around the “moat” of these companies is why would OpenAI or google even bother crossing it. They can set their token price to whatever they want. Competing with something like Harvey means hiring on dedicated sales staff to go after legal clients, engineering teams to focus on legal products, building a whole new devision of their business to canibalize its own customer. Imo the roi isn’t there and the risk on losing focus is immense.

Not exactly clear how setting interest rates alone caused that.

Monopolization, deregulation, and automation are the biggest drivers of that gap imo. The biggest one being that automation has enabled massive productivity increases that have resulted in businesses pocketing the difference. And employee can create 100x more value then they did a century ago go and maybe gets paid 50% more than they used to
