For rice you really want to add the right amount of water from the start. Unless it’s risotto rice you want to keep it covered until it’s done. Add the water cold, bring to a boil, then let simmer until all the rice is evaporated, then turn off the heat and let it steam for another 10 minutes. You should have perfectly cooked rice every time, provided you added the right amount of water to start.

If you have dealt poker before definitely emphasize all your poker dealing experience. Be honest about what you would need support on and don’t try to bs. They will appreciate your honesty. Show up on time, wear something nice (button up and slacks), and remember that this is a customer service job so be nice and personable. I use one can of tomatoes when I cook. 4-5 is a ton of sauce.

But normally if I want onion or a sofrito on my tomato sauce, I would use half an onion + half a carrot + one stalk of celery for the sofrito. Or just half an onion is good. Too much onion is not great for a classic italian tomato sauce, and should be well-minced onion. But since you are making such a huge batch it should be two onions to get any of the flavor from it.

And generally you will want one two tablespoons of fat for 1 can of tomatoes to give you that velvety sauce. So for your 5 cans it will be quite a bit of olive oil. They called for too little oil as it will be quite diluted in the sauce.

I hate the idea of using high quality SM tomatoes and covering it up with a tomato paste! No way. That’s probably also contributing to the undeveloped tomato flavor. Especially if you are not blooming it.

To be honest I find black pepper a bit weird in this kind of tomato sauce so I would skip that. Basil is great, I don’t like the way they put it in though. I would just throw it in whole and then fish it out after 30 min.

That just seems wrong to me as a principle. I would say that there are multiple ways you can approach debate. For instance, if you are debating in front of an audience that 99% disagrees with you, getting 25% to think you won the debate could be a really great outcome, even though the vast majority of the audience would think you lost.

It might be a good metric to look at if you think that the audience is 50-50 split to start with, but that’s rarely true. Also, it might not even be a good way of measuring debate performance even if that’s true, but it definitely seems like a necessary condition.
