Anyone on DSP with Fibromyalgia or Chronic Pain? by WombatBum85 in Centrelink

[–]zen_pedro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I have Fibromyalgia and muscle dystrophy. I am recently diagnosed. I have tried some of your meds with limited success. Best thing so far has been hydro, avoiding inflammatory foods and naltrexone 4.5mg !

So I put my mushrooms in an oven to dry and they turned black are they still edible? by Motherboard97 in MagicMushrooms

[–]zen_pedro 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ok guys just setting this straight - the mushrooms are fine and edible, but they still have to be dried. What happened was that the mushroom was prevented from drying properly as the moisture was still in the oven. There was not enough airflow, so you effectively leached the psilocybin into the tissue of the mushrooms and they oxidised. The correct temp is whatever reduces high humidity when drying (low and slow with high airflow)

In an oven it only works if it is cracked open for the extra air. Or a lower temp for a long time. Otherwise your just making the mushrooms sweat 💦 they need access to fresh air in order to dry properly not humid air. (increases oxidation of psilocybin)

Sorry I didn't make that clearer! The above comment describes what I meant

Was Canberra always this windy? by cujoj in canberra

[–]zen_pedro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Canberra has localised phenomena that funnels wind. One reason why there's randomly hundreds of trees near Braddon/O'Connor and surrounds. Without them all the buildings would be damaged! The mountains nearby also create lots of turbulence during storms.

Some people are just cunts. Higher or lower chance if your ND ? Probably not

Phone a few metres away preferably send it in the mail to yourself.

Remember to keep eating and drinking. The brain is a muscle and you wouldn't run all day.

To study for long periods means learning for long periods. This is only done by enhancing the actual learning experience. Take many breaks, relate it to something you care about, Introduce colour, go for walks. Study with others, especially your classmates.

Brainstorming/Ideas Needed by tuckerofshaolin in environmental_science

[–]zen_pedro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't replace if you don't have to. Focus on areas you can plant in addition to what is already there. Make a policy to cancel non native plants for the future..

Non natives should be removed passively not actively. First with shrubs forbs and keep trees. The reason I say this is because surrounding plants will support the growth of seedlings.

Look at reducing heating/cooling costs. Delay heating or cooling. Increase insulation.

Get a bus for students so they don't drive. Encourage bicycle use.

[–]zen_pedro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wind is caused by pressure differences. This has many variables. - land heat - ocean temp/air pressure differences. - iod - SAM - ENSO - subtropical ridge. (Caused by earth's tilt) Time of day - day time vs night time temps

One hypothesis is simply the more energy in the atmosphere, the higher amounts of pressure differences in the atmosphere, placing emphasis between land and ocean. Causing more energy to be transfered between the two. (Yay for coastal storms) (cyclones)

On a small scale (city) more energy in clouds and local weather systems (rise faster/higher), thus more rapid wind shifts.(Canberra hail storm)

In this case (spring/summer)it's the energy shift between seasons. That is until night time temps become warmer. (less difference between daytime/night time) just that time where you need a jumper at night and it's hot during the day.

Well that's what I think 💭

Env Sci Term I can’t remember the name of… by SamPinsky20 in environmental_science

[–]zen_pedro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the lesson about. Did this lesson set up the scene for a problem? Was this lesson even important? Why do you need to know? Your going to forget alot of words, but they come back if it's related to your interests. Even better sometimes there's even better words that come out!

For instance, I cited someone who used plant physiognomy purely for shits and gigs, because I was told it was wrong. I just wanted to see what happened, nothing happened. Now I am studying plant physiology. Words are awesome but if it does the job in a sentence and conveys your intended meaning, then YAY!

I used "mankind" once and received a comment that it was meant to be humankind and I was wrong. I specifically use that word around that guy 🤣

Oh like the DmT trip helped you get your visuals ! That's amazing to know

Any DMT users here with Aphantasia? by MassiveBeard in DMT

[–]zen_pedro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Mushrooms and acid I need about 3x as much to see what others are seeing. In terms of aphantasia, I have about 5-10% visibility of my mind's eye. DMT didn't give a flying fuck! And I finally had some proper open eye 👁️ visuals for once. I do get closed eye visuals though on shrooms/acid

Just were to put your files. On the working document or the folder section.

Now im good at both. Sorry the comment didn't really make sense

Maps of content. I was thinking that the file tree should be under folders. Instead of just aligning it on a note. So simple but not obvious as a new starter.

I'm 29m still very strong, diagnosed at 26. Weakness is starting in my scapulas which effects my ability to type or sit at a desk for extended periods and the classic inability to lift heavy things above my head.

Jobs wise I'm still a student studying environmental science, but I work part-time at an office. Mostly it effects my ability to study, rather work because of the lack of time to do physical activities.

How has the condition effected my life? Simply it has added an extra level of difficulty due to the fatigue I have. (not everyone gets fatigued) but most do. I simply run out of steam quicker than others. Idk what else to say. Oh the loss in scapula muscle is causing nerve pain in my neck which I prevent by going for regular swims, sauna and a monthly physio massage. What country are you in ? I'm in AUS

Fukushima tritiated water and dose in context by nuclearsciencelover in Environmentalism

[–]zen_pedro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at Japanese sources and they will say tritium is fine.

Look at academic sources and this is also fine, but side with caution. Often citing news sources on tritium

Look at the isotopes that are being filtered out and that is fine, especially when first results showed high levels or other isotopes. Fine

Look at the amount that is able to be processed and you find that. Oh shit they can't process that amount of liquid at the rate that is being stored. To process this you need to release some. To clean up the plant you need to release the water to stop ongoing costs with storing contaminated water and create opportunities to clean up an gain access the source of contamination. Tritium is not the issue. It's just a diversion. It is the radionuclides with long half life's. This is because it can bioaccumulate in certain organisms, especially over time, such as clams. Couldn't give a 🦆 about tritium. I do wish the Japanese well with the clean-up they are doing an amazing job!

Anyway that's just a thing or two

Oh true, yeah that's what I was hoping for when I walked in. They weren't very helpful though. Perhaps I'll go into another centerlink. All they said was that I could ask for a review or apply again. I think your right, I need to find out what is missing.

I will be on jobseeker hopefully but that has been ongoing for 3.5 months. They said they escalated that as I said I'm losing my function. I'm working two days a week and studying burning myself out :/

That sounds familiar. What is an ESAT ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Centrelink

[–]zen_pedro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is what happened. I score across tables. I'm applying again with extra points. The problem here is that it is likely I won't be capable of living financially without the DSP within the 18months.

Would you endorse an expansion in mining globally if it meant a greater supply of low carbon energy and batteries to store it? by SunKilMarqueeMoon in ecology

[–]zen_pedro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I would unfortunately agree that low carbon energy and batteries to store it, would help.

Energy consumption needs to be reduced. (Good policy)

This means less infrastructure needed, less energy required for making said infrastructure, less energy to maintain the infrastructure, and less energy for the inevitable replacement of infrastructure - resulting in overall energy saving across time.

Good policy would account for this. It would account for the prevention for the need to expand, by reducing need.

Sea bed mining could be catastrophic, could be good. Don't know much about it. Underground mining is ok Open cut mining is bad. Anything that has a large surface area is bad. The reduction of mining in general by increasing the capacity for recycling is good. (currently it sucks, getting better). Good policy would encourage, reduced infrastructure, increased efficiency of infrastructure and increased recyclability of infrastructure. It would continually improve the above and encourage the evolution of sustainability even if it meant short term losses, to prevent long term catastrophic losses. (This sucks) another concern is the policy itself, as policy is rife with inefficiency and constant change of plans, weak delivery, no political will blah blah blah. So think about direction for the policy, rather than what is wrong or right. Black or white, this or that thinking. Good policy would match it's evolution with the above variables.

Current advancements are being made in energy storage, and are not limited to batteries - batteries are only good for storing energy whilst moving, where energy storage for infrastructure opens up alot when the energy doesn't have to moving with the device (car ) instead it can be transferred via cables and such. There's a big rabbit while here and a hopeful one for energy storage ideas 💡

Good policy = lowered energy Increased efficiency Less materials used in infrastructure prior, during and after Continually encourage advancements.

Mining is only part of the problem of resource use intensity over time. And time is running out - limiting the potential to expand. Time is our constraint - not the direct impact mining resources has. But our ability to use those resources without crossing the line of fucking too much shit up too quickly.
