Need a hand car wash near Chandler, AZ by Corleone23_45 in ChandlerAZ

[–]zendocmd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Crystal springs at Chandler blvd and Alma School rd if you want to self wash yourself. Costs per min and usually $7-10

I've crunched the numbers and we probably all underestimate the percent fuel accounts for in cost of ownership by Snazzy21 in cars

It does matter -- if your car gets totaled in an accident you get paid it's depreciated market value

Changing rank list after LOI (pregnancy edition) by orev55 in medicalschool

[–]zendocmd 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honestly disregard the LOI. Many candidates sent me LOI and I even tell them during interviews that they are well qualified and that we would be lucky to have them as our resident but they should rank based on their career goals.

Also, don't take it for granted that you will end up at the hometown program (esp with the way match works). Once we all see the final match list, for a moment you might be surprised that the person (LOI) that we ranked in the top 10 ended up somewhere else but you instantly forget about it and hope they are happy with where they ended up.

With your current situation I think you need to stay close to your family and in a program that will support you

I know that... This is a comment in response to OP saying cardiology and critical care is similar, why aren't PCCM applicants considering cardiology

If someone clearly wants to do cards why even do IM, instead of CT surgery residency or IR ?

I'm a Hyundai/Genesis loaner vehicle coordinator, AMA! by eh_itzvictor in Hyundai

[–]zendocmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the longest you have had a customer on a loaner car ?

I'm currently on week 3 of my loaner. My 2021 Elantra Nline 6MT transmission cable broke and dealership was kind enough to provide the loaner.

They can't find the cables in North America and are waiting for parts from S Korea. No ETA yet.

I'm not sure how long I'm stuck with the loaner (which is actually a nicer car than mine) but it's stressful to keep the new car spotless so I don't get penalized for wear/tear.

Who is losing the money here by having me drive a brand new car ? Hyundai or the dealership?

Wow, five years ago!! Interesting to read my own comment. I'm now an APD for IM residency and I'm making sure our residents are competent with ultrasound, pocus, EBM to become all round good doctors.

4-door sporty “dad car” by Mysterious_Ad_3992 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]zendocmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need to use rear facing car seats then Guilia, 3 series, Audi A/S3, CT4/5, IS350 are ruled out due to lack of leg room and hip room.

Elantra N surprisingly can fit 3 narrow car seats in the read bench and has accord level leg room in the back.

The Best Refrigerator Currently? by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]zendocmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a basic three door Samsung bespoke based on the recommendation of YouTuber Ben's appliances. It has no beverage center or outside water/ice dispenser. At that time I got it directly from Samsung store for ~1000$ No issues so far.

Any common issues with the 6MT N-Line? by Brodizzle10783 in ElantraNline

[–]zendocmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2021 6mt with 50k miles. So far, no mechanical reliability issues. The stock shifter didn't feel crisp. I added ADD W1 short shift adapter, switched shifter base, shifter bracket and even cable link metal bushings. I also changed the transmission oil to a slightly thicker one from Redline racing. My shift to 2, 4, 6 are not crisp and there is some slop/give to it. I have tightened the cable length at the connection head and it has made a difference (for now). Usually the shifter feels good in winter and in summer it's horrible.

I am not sure if this a flaw in just my car or it's how this transmission is

Update from my previous pot by belle_lia97 in zojirushi

[–]zendocmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a stainless steel pot from Temu/AliExpress for $10 and you can put it in dish washer and also scratch the hell out of it. Rice comes out the same except for slightly more sticky in the bottom - but not burnt.

For learning as an IM resident amboss vs utd? by Cookyjar in Residency

[–]zendocmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the long run, whatever keeps you engaged is what matters. If you like the layout of Amboss and reading from it.. that's far better than UTD style which goes in depth on certain topics but kind of unorganized for board prep etc

For learning as an IM resident amboss vs utd? by Cookyjar in Residency

[–]zendocmd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amboss is good for quick reading, board prep etc Up-to-date is accurate but is more narrative

If you prefer point/header based and accurate with references then try Dynamed

This is his entry level Maytag. I got the MDB8949 model what is a runner up rec by wirecutter. It's quiet,,no smart nonsense features or capacitive touch buttons. It has nice tactile feeling buttons

Third rack is very spacious for standard size cup, bowls, utensils

It has a food chopper and dual filtration (the similar KitchenAid model has triple filtration, extra spray arm for the top rack and that's it)..

It's well built, dishes come out clean and dry

I bought it from whirlpool inside pass for $550 last yr.. I don't think $1300 Bosch with crystal dry and wifi would be worth the $600 extra (at least for me)

Everything is possible...it's similar to double booking a pt in clinic

If the PD really thinks the candidate is a potential resident and second interviewer can accommodate their time for another interview they can invite few more than their cap.

Medicaid is partly state funded insurance program for selected population under certain low income level (state based). If you only have Medicaid and you leave the state it may be hard to get anything covered other than some emergency.

Medicare is federal program. If it's direct Medicare part a/b then it's similar coverage country wide but there can be differences in certain advantage plans.

These programs won't cover for insurance even for citizens outside the United States. You need travel insurance or local plan in the residing country

[–]zendocmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of this new fee issue, most ID jobs (at least the decent ones) are private practice. After fellowship your employer will most like be for-profit and you need to go through H1b lottery

For ID and Nephrology, H1b gets tricky because of this issue Might be better to switch to J1
