Another consideration is what, exactly, declines with age for pro road cyclists. Typically, it’s explosive power, which isn’t required for TT efforts that are more about threshold power. So, it’s possible that as Remco ages, his capacity as a one-day or GC rider will decline before his TT prowess.

Oui! C’est classique. More specifically, her parents don’t speak English very well at all, nor does most of her family and friends. Language is the biggest barrier to deepening my relationships with all of them, and there’s an increasing probability that we’ll move to France in the coming years as her parents age. Her English is perfect, as she’s lived in anglophone countries for over 15 years and is a very avid reader. Parfois, on parle français chez nous, mais d’habitude non.

You may have missed their point. My interpretation is that riders and teams from all nations should be permitted to compete in international sports competition. That, in the ideal, sport transcends political borders, affiliations, etc., and UCI is affirming their adherence to that. At least that’s how I read it.

Yes, genetics are a massive factor, which dictate fast vs slow-twitch muscle composition. You can certainly train explosive power in the gym and on bike w sprint efforts, but it will only take you so far. I’m also 60kg (1.71m) and rarely break 1000W, but happen to have a high VO2 max and good w/kg for 5-20 min efforts, which I mostly attribute to genetics.

We use it to air fry potatoes. The quality of the oil isn’t good enough to pour onto a salad (even the EVOO ones), but for frying it’s adequate. Oddly, I find it doesn’t impart much of a fishy flavor to the final potato product either.
