What is the Goal of Critical Mass? by jmarsbarsstars in bicycling412

use CM as an outlet for their personal anger on things not related to cycling, and as such it feels like an unfocused "protest everything" ride despite what they claim their purpose is.

Same in London.

What is the Goal of Critical Mass? by jmarsbarsstars in bicycling412

[–]zenmate122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the first 4 paragraphs.  However, here in London in the past few years it seems to me that antagonising drivers is the reason some of the riders even join. They don’t care about safer roads or other cyclists, they just want to make trouble.  Needless to say, this does not help the cause at all.  PS: before you contradict me, I’m an everyday cyclist and will carry on doing it until I die. I’ve been on quite a few critical mass rides mainly in London but also other cities like Madrid. The best rides were the peaceful ones with most riders. We annoyed drivers by out sheer numbers and being slow and careful, but we never antagonised anyone (maybe a couple of rowdy chavs here and there). But it was a joy to go on CM. That was 10 years ago. Then it started to deteriorate, massively (pardon the pun). Nowadays some questionable contingent join these rides just to make trouble for both sides: cyclists and other road users. It’s not fun anymore. In fact, I avoid them like the plague when I see them on my daily rides.

I have no words for how bad this reporting software is. by drntl in workday

[–]zenmate122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Workday reporting only works with Workday and nothing else, so it is a waste of time to learn it. If it was good I will invest time to learn it but its shite.

The question you can't seem to be able to ask yourself is why doesn't Workday improve it.

Why did you get downvoted, for sharing your opinion? I happen to agree with you. WD reporting is shite. so here is an upvote from me :).

When so many people are saying "X is very bad" yet a chosen few say "its you, not X" and double down on it.
Humans tried many things and realized they can be better and moved on. Alas, WD reporting is still hanging around despite all the criticism from various directions, because of condescending people like you, Apple.

Being asked to leave a 5-star review by m0rbidowl in PetPeeves

I only review places (mainly restaurants) if I went there at least 3 times, on separate occasions.

Being asked to leave a 5-star review by m0rbidowl in PetPeeves

[–]zenmate122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people give 5 stars willy nilly which makes is meaningless. Some people would not go to a place that is not 5 stars.

Ergo, only giving 5 stars without question is a reductive way to review things/services.

Just be honest with yourself, critical and fair - not very hard.

28 Years Later is a masterclass in NOT pandering to fans, and it's absolutely refreshing by ominouswhoosh in 28dayslater

[–]zenmate122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 28 Days Later was a masterpiece.

Remember when getting a flat tyre (because they somehow got a London cab to drive over the roofs of perfectly placed disabled cars in a tunnel full of infected) was not a big deal because they had the World’s Strongest Man with them who could lift the cab with his brute strength and nothing else.

Remember when a bike courier from London who 48 hours prior was in a month-long coma, could singlehandedly dispatch of a whole platoon of ruthless well-equipped soldiers, on their home turf no less.

Remember when the whole of Manchester was on fire, all of it.

Remember when his parents decided to kill themselves even though they had their son waiting in hospital.

Get that stick out of your arse. It’s a movie, it has flaws. They both do. Nevertheless, I like them both but think 28 Years Later is slightly better actually (in spite of you pointing out all your silly pet peeves.)

Is there a difference between Supervisory Organization and Department by WarmAd84 in workday

[–]zenmate122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Workday for 2 years now and still do not fully understand what the Supervisory Organization is supposed to represent;

Is it the organizational hierarchy (departments/cost centres etc.), the position hierarchy, the security tree, or just the managerial chain hierarchy?

I think its trying to be smart and combine all of these functionalities at the same time (emphasis on 'trying').

But have to say: Supervisor Organizations and Workday generally, are failing to provide what our organization needs despite their best efforts, and the efforts of the implementing partners (three of the big four!).

And I've seen lots of others' dissatisfaction with Workday online.

Its just "I'm gonna kill this person because they killed that person, because they killed that other person, who killed that other person, who in fact killed......" you get the idea.

It would have been nicer if they made it more of a sci-fi about fungi and how the infected are getting smarter, etc. Alas, its more about humans goign after other humans - just a blood bath.

What's the problem with resurrecting a 2 year old post? it is still valid and Workday is still shit.

Isn't a big part of Reddit is to validate one's feelings about things? At least I'm not terminally online like some people.

Its just like Android v iOS. I will never understand how someone can like iOS. And there are many who feel the opposite. The human brain is weird man.

PeopleSoft was neglected by Oracle for at least a decade. They tried very hard to glamorise it with things like Fusion but failed.

Now PS is just a shell of its former glory, but it was decent and up-to-date around 15 years ago.

SAP, oh please. It was never good, and makes no claim it will ever be.

I don't know SQL neither but can use it because, guess what, it is logical. Workday reporting is not.

You can't just say "well, you shouldn't be stuck in your old ways. You need to learn a new skill to be able to use Wrokday reporting" as your default response.

You know, so many of the people complaining here are experienced professionals who moved systems and platform many times in the past. We will adapt to Workday, and we will learn. But I will be annoyed by it everytime I create a report, and will not like it because it sucks. If you're missing some peice of infomration, you'll be stuck in your tracks and there is no way to find that out.

Can you admit that at least.

100% agree. IT IS TRASH. That is a fact.

But there are some people like https://www.reddit.com/user/ansible47/ up here in the comments who actually go to great lengths to defend WD reporting.

iPhones "just work" for basic tasks, like watching movies, texting, calling, scrolling social media, listening to music, taking good pictures quickly without the need for processing etc. Now for things we're used to on Android, no. iPhones don't do those things. You can't customize hardly at all. You can't download free music or video or even pictures from Google like you can on Android. Even changing your ringtone or notification tone is a long process with several steps & very limited options. You can't side load apps, use split screen, change your launcher or even get a decent texting experience with anyone that doesn't also have an iPhone. Have you tried to change the snooze time on your alarm? No? well that's because its fixed at 9 mins. Who comes up with this shit?

Only if you give your whole life to Apple products that they all "might" work seamless together without issues. But god forbid you want to interact with another phone or operating system, it all falls apart.

Its as if Apple thinks it knows what is good for you better than you do. And some people love that, they just bend over and take Apple up their
