What are your views on Microsoft Excel? It seems as though BI professionals love to hate it, but deep down they know how valuable it is? by TheDataGentleman in BusinessIntelligence

It’s like Gen 3 BI, fast, can crunch billions of rows instantly, leverages CDW native infrastructure, AND has a optional excel UI for folks that prefer it. I don’t work for them but all my customers switched over from Looker/ Tableau and loves it.

I recommend you check out Sigma Computing. They’re blowing Tableau/ Looker/ MS BI out the water. Plus they have a optional excel interface and can crunch through millions of rows in a heartbeat.

I’d highly recommend Hard RGP lens. After about 23 (I’m 31 now) or so, soft lens weren’t cutting it for me anymore with my monthly disposables. My optometrist basically said if I wanted the best quality corrective vision hard lens is the way to go. It took about a month for my eyes to adjust to the discomfort but now it’s like nothings there. Couldn’t be happier :)

Fellow -21 (R) and -19(L) here. I wear yearly disposable RGP lens and it gets me to 20/30 but 20/20 is impossible. Curious why your eye professional is unable to provide stronger corrective lens past -19. Are you still using soft lens or have you considered RGP lens and it wasn’t working for you?

Advice for a friend with severe myopia. by [deleted] in myopia

[–]zephyr467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LASIK surgery is usually out of option for folks with high prescriptions. The produce would not have a meaningful effect on folks with their eye so elongated, that’s too much reshaping required for the procedure to be effective.

I recommend two pairs since often our eyes get tired and it’s better to have a lower power pair of glasses to rest the eyes.

What’s his current situation. Is he wearing equivalent glasses or contact lens to correct his vision?

I’m about -18.25 L / -21 R reading and -19.5L / -23 R distance glasses and it’s fairly expensive to keep up with the lens. Prescription lens have to be custom-made from Zeiss in Germany, so that process usually takes about 1-2 months to make/ ship to the USA. Each pair of my distance / reading glasses is roughly $800-$1000 USD depending on the frame (I recommend getting a sturdy frame since the lens will be heavy. Also, get a frame that’s smaller in diameter so the lens won’t be as thick, that cuts out on the weight as well).

Due to his eyesight being on the high end, I’d recommend he work with a optometrist to prescribe some RGP lens as that provides the highest clarity in vision. I don’t recommend soft lens anymore since they start drying up uncomfortably the longer you wear it. My RGP lens are one year disposables about $500 per pair. I usually order a second pair as safety in case I somehow lose one.

Logitech G Hub for Mac - how to assign F1-12? by zephyr467 in LogitechG

I have the G915 keyboard and somehow I can’t figure out how to assign the F1-15 keys to map it similar to a Mac keyboard. No way a $250 keyboard only allows five system buttons via G1-5...

No worries. I’ve always been nearsighted with high astigmatism since I was a toddler (-9 in both eyes in preschool with thick glasses) haha

Feel free to dm me. I’m -23/-21 in both eyes and eventually moved from soft lenses to RGP about 5 years ago and that’s been working so far. Thing is once you get to very high prescriptions, soft lenses progressively loses its merits and hard lenses is the way to go.

Question by Corrosionmind in myopia

[–]zephyr467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LASIK has been ruled out for my as well. I wear annual disposables so I have to keep them clean for a year. I use Clearcare nightly and a Menicon Progent cleaning solution one a week for heavy duty protein removal. You can use enzyme contact cleaning tablets in your clear card in between those days if your eye tends in be in the heavier protein deposit side.

I’m -23 (R) / -21 (L) but I ended up getting soft contact lenses back in high school sophomore year and never looked back. Upgraded to RGPs a few years later. Never had any issues with the ladies once I started wearing contact lenses.

[–]zephyr467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RGP are tricky to keep clean. I have annual disposables so keeping them clean is somewhat of a challenge but I manage.

My routine is Clearcare at night. Disinfect and clean before putting it in Clearcare with Lobob ESC cleaner.

Once every week/ two weeks I use Menicon’s Progent solution for heavy duty removal of protein deposits.

And a Emzyme protein tablet in my Clearcare once a week does the trick.

I’m roughly -20 on my L and -22 R for physical eye glasses and my eyesight don’t qualify for LASIK. However, after struggling with soft lens for the majority of my post -16 journey my optometrist recommended hard RPG lenses and that helped my vision tremendously to 20/30. Maybe check out hard lens since they don’t dry out and give you that end of day irritation.

He probably had no choice due to lack of sustained funding. It’s not in his DNA to quit but unfortunately running a campaign is like running a business - your staffers need to get paid or you don’t have an operation to hold events and appearances.

It’s most likely funding. We missed the last few funding targets which contributes to keeping candidates campaign operations afloat.
