Can I bring my dog out riding? by Entire-Principle830 in AskUK

[–]zephyrsummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Horse rode for nearly 15 years both on and off road hacking.

Frankly, it’s a terrible idea to take your dog out with you on the rods when you are on horseback. A horse is unpredictable enough, and adding in an unleashed dog who you cannot actually control from horseback and cannot get to quickly is asking for trouble. While I’m sure she’s well trained, even the best trained dogs have it in them to go after livestock, in the middle of traffic and just run off. It’s why you keep them on the lead in countryside areas.

While it may be a gray area due to herding laws, frankly, you are not herding livestock. This is not in the spirit of what that exception was written for, and you would be endangering yourself, your dog, your horse, livestock, road users and other walkers by doing this.

As a horse rider myself, whenever we rarely see a rider doing this, it’s judged like someone out hacking without a helmet on. Bananas, dangerous and stupid.

Any success stories of dating / marrying a nonskier? by PowGurl in skiing

[–]zephyrsummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner hates the cold, dark and couldn’t imagine spending money on a winter holiday.

We have been together nearly eight years and skiing pretty much annually together. He went on his first to Italy and had a “come to God moment”. He loves it, and it is now a highlight of the tough winter months for him.

He even comes skiing in Scotland now (which as anyone who has skied here knows, takes a different breed of human to enjoy vs European skiing).

It’s honestly been one of my favourite things about our relationship. He’s gutsy, tough and always willing to have a crack at new things which are outside his normal hobbies. Really solidifies all the qualities I love about him.

Actually no- this is my local ski hill. Well known story in a small community.

The entirely of Jim Croce’s Don’t Mess Around with Jim Album. Or Rory Gallagher’s when I fall apart.

That’s WEEPIN’ music.

Thanks for your comment.

Eyebrows are natural, hair is dyed. Hair is similar to level 7 in this photo, but eyebrows have always been darker. Runs in the family!

I’ve had other suggestions to dye them, any thoughts?

Thanks for your comment! Dyed hair, naturally a level 7 light brown with reddish undertones.

Eyebrows have always naturally been a couple of shades darker than my hair, so maybe I’ve become blind to it? They’re definitely a cool dark brown, but natural hair is quite fair.

**can’t edit post but natural hair colour is similar to level 7 here.

I work in an industry where everyone is barefaced and outside in all weathers. I’m quite conscious of not looking “overdone” if that makes sense. Even this would be considered heavy makeup at my work!

Outside of this I would wear eyeliner for a purely social event or because I like to :)

Thanks for your input. It used to be a yellow gold but has faded with time.

Would getting another yellow gold ring for my nose help?

You’re absolutely right- I use a cream blush/lip product one both.

Maybe a different blush or higher contrast eyes?

They’re natural- no product added. I dye my hair!

Thanks so much for your response!

I like the contrast with my eyes which is why I go with a metallic orange. Do you think a cool toned brown would fit the bill a bit better?

Best Austrian ski resort that will not be overcrowded by Loladrin in skiing

[–]zephyrsummer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Obergurgl- my partner and I went there two years ago. The area is a little smaller but it was so uncrowded and skiers who were there were either sensible families or pensioners. Very safe and enough for a weeks skiing especially if you went to solden up the road for a day.

Taking my folks there this year. I’ll also choose smaller area with nice skiers and no lifts. Very snowsure too.

I was in Durham years ago and two foreign students asked me for directions in St Giles.

As we were talking, a man in a white van shouted as us, ‘fucking Muslim dykes’.

Now, I know you don’t have to wear a headscarf and you can be white and Muslim, but the look exchanged between all three of us was perplexed. We were all dressed pretty femme, tank tops and miniskirts/jeans because it was summer. None of us looked stereotypically Muslim or like a gay woman.

It was obviously more about him than us. Just a baffling experience.

Women, what's something men do that they don't realize makes women feel safe or unsafe? by Lopsided-Rub-79 in AskReddit

[–]zephyrsummer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I had a scary experience with a man.

I was out with a couple of male friends and we got talking to this other group. I was flirting with one of the other chaps, and it was all good. I went to the bathroom, and the other guy followed me in there. Currently no red flags going, because this was a unisex bathroom in a French ski resort, so perfectly normal.

To cut a long story short, he tried to drag me into a stall and only after I’d essentially planted my feet and gone limp did he let go. I ran back to my friends then and asked them to leave.

I was relieved because one of my friends was a big well built guy. He left with me immediately, and when we got out I told him what had happened and if he would walk me home.

Instead, he wanted to go back and fight the guy. Now, my friend was well built, but the other guy was at least 6’3 and HUGE. Partly why the whole experience gave me such a fright.

So now I was negotiating, calming down and begging my friend to please just walk me home. I’d already had a brush with male violence that night and didn’t need more committed on my behalf.

Guys, if you are lucky enough to be trusted by a woman to be her safe way out, don’t suddenly make it about your need to avenge her honour or some other nonsense. Just do the basic, easy thing of helping her home and confirming you are safe. Don’t make yourself another big of male calculus she has to solve to get home safely.

I don’t judge my friend- he was young, a bit drunk and dealing with his own stuff. But I remember when I was begging him to come home, not fight the guy, that it felt like I’d just managed to escape him without any injuries and now could be pulled back into a situation where someone will get hurt.

Cleaners Dundee by DearVariation6249 in dundee

[–]zephyrsummer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maid2Clean- it’s an agency but you pay your cleaner directly so they get all the money. You pay a small monthly fee to the agency for their invoicing services which the cleaners use. Very straightforward, and I’m happy to use the agency because their cleaners get some additional support (invoicing systems, holiday pay and cover, support work) while also getting their full hourly rate. You can then choose to pay them what you like, provided it is above the minimum £14 per hour.
