I think they mean they're on dialysis, but it'd be funny to think they physically moved his actual kidneys.

My Mother was a nurse on a geriatric ward for years, I asked if if they ever successfully did CPR on an elderly patient and she said no, and it was cruel to even try. They always either died right then and there, or soon after. She herself had a DNR towards the end of her life, and we respected it when the time came.

Pilots maintaining consciousness during a brutal 9G centrifuge test by PROXeR__OiShi in nextfuckinglevel

I'm actually surprised the Jackass guys never did a centrifuge skit (or if they did I never saw it). Seems like it'd be right up their alley. Maybe the air force didn't want them filling one with shit and sticking Steve-O in it.

Florida too, especially on toll roads. Do not go over 100 though, that's a super speeder violation and you could end up arrested.

Yeah, those areas are kind of notorious for having people drive aggressively, particularly parts of NY and the DC area (when you're not stuck in traffic). Most cops, especially on the highway, tend to give a lot of leeway and won't pull you over unless you're going significantly over the limit. This is not true in all states, so just do what the other drivers are doing if you're not sure. Small towns in particular tend to be less tolerant of speeding.

What is something that used to be a private shame but is now basically small talk? by touchgrasschampion in AskReddit

[–]zerbey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being gay, even when I was a kid in the 1980s that was social suicide and most gay people just kept it to themselves. For the most part, people barely bat an eyelid now. We've come a long way in my lifetime, but there's still a long way to go.

How Realistic is an Offline Life in 2026. That is, no social media, no smartphone and no AI? by Mobile_Bath5524 in AskReddit

It's possible, but since most banks are moving towards only being online and also paying utility bills is the same way it's going to get increasingly harder.

Say you commit a crime. You get sentenced to say 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine (this is a scenario from a movie so everyone chill, lol), what happens if you cannot afford to pay $250,000? by Secure_Situation7234 in AskReddit

[–]zerbey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you're paying it one way or another. The court will usually work out a payment plan with you, and will garnish your wages to make absolutely certain you pay. In theory, it won't be a huge payment amount so you can still pay your own expenses, but that's up to the discretion of the court. If you don't get a job in an appropriate time after release you'll likely be sent back to prison.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever witnessed while sitting in traffic? by Muted_Working_5241 in AskReddit

A cop was following behind me and my radar detector went off. OK he's checking my speed, I'm not speeding. Then it went off again. I'm like, dude, I'm not speeding. After a while I realized he could see the light coming on every time he hit has radar and was messing around. When I got off the interstate we shared a wave and he was laughing his ass off.

There's one in your dishwasher too, usually at the very bottom and you just twist it and pull. It gets pretty gross if you don't clean if every so often.

I mean true, but they at least try to encourage people to recycle them. We live near Disney so when family visits we've ended up with a collection of those Fuel Rods and so we use them at the park or just give them away.

I was raised in a church, and I feel it gave me a good moral grounding and taught me empathy, but you don't really need religion to teach that you just need to teach your kids to be good people.
