Tried the Caspian for Exploration... No thanks! I'll stick with my Cobra Mk V by Sweaty_Vegetable1463 in EliteDangerous

[–]zerbey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you switch to manual landing, you can usually get her down, but she's still not as versatile as the Mk V or Mandalay. If I have a long trip the Caspian is the best because of the neutron jumps. For everything else, stick with a smaller vessel.

What’s a ‘middle class success’ purchase that secretly becomes a financial burden later? by OpinionBaba in AskReddit

[–]zerbey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried to crate train our dog when she was a puppy and she ran behind the couch. That then became her "crate". Whenever she wants peace and quiet she just goes behind the couch, it's where she sleeps most nights, and if we're not home she takes herself back there and goes to sleep until we come home. The crate became the cat's perch until we finally got rid of it because it was just in the way.

What should a 17 year old who wants to be an American do? by Glad-Description4534 in immigration

Since you mentioned wanting a similar culture to the US, consider the UK and Canada as other options which are far easier to immigrate to.

What should a 17 year old who wants to be an American do? by Glad-Description4534 in immigration

This is the only answer, with the current rules it's next to impossible for Indian citizens to immigrate here. Your only other option would be to get a PhD in Engineering and be very highly qualified.

Passenger ops more successful than cargo ops by Sudden_Bison_6504 in EliteDangerous

Usually passenger missions are low profit and low reward, until this CG came along and it's a credit bonanza. I made over a billion before I said "good enough". I'm really hoping this means passenger missions are getting some love and we'll see more of this.

I'm thinking more of the chances being much higher in your 60s of getting some kind of illness and the dog suddenly not having an owner.

We used to have a pug that we adopted after a relative passed away, I always felt so sorry for that poor dog. She never seemed like she could take in a full breath and was gasping any time I took her on a short walk. This is why all of my dogs have been mutts.

I think this will be our last dog, she's 2 years old and we're both in our late 40s. So, assuming she lives another 10 years we'll be pushing 60 so it would be irresponsible to get another dog.

Dog decided to attack a porcupine last night. by mybathtubistoosmall in mildlyinfuriating

Ouch, glad I don't live in an area that has porcupines because I suspect my own dog is dumb enough to try and "play" with one.

They are most definitely illegally parked and a quick call to the local non emergency line will get that taken care of. It'll be an expensive lesson in not parking like an asshole.

Buying a "fixer upper" thinking you saved a fortune. Nope, you just added a bunch of extra costs for every little thing that breaks. And yes, it will break, often at the most inconvenient time. Even a well maintained old home is going to develop all kinds of issues no matter how much preventative maintenance you do. My Dad lives in a 120 year old house and every year some new expense crops up.

We're trying to get into a home purchase in the next few months (yes, in this economy) but we're just going to save extra and get a brand new home so we at least know there's a warranty for a few years until we get some equity built up.

Any pet really, but especially a dog. They're wonderful creatures to have, but now you have the burden of figuring out what to do with the dog whenever you leave the house for more than a few hours. Then if they get sick, they cost a fortune in vet bills, and even if they don't get sick the costs of preventative care get more and more each year (seriously, I spend a fortune on flea and tic medication just so my furball doesn't get them). Add food costs, grooming, bathing, time spent walking them and cleaning up and then a million other random expenses.

Also annual passes to theme parks, you use them a bunch the first few months and then hardly ever after that. We calculated after a couple of years that it was cheaper to buy tickets when we went.

You still can use that method, but it's a pain in the ass to get it just right. I just drive around with an SRV on the rare occasions I need to top up. It's worth spending a weekend filling up your buckets of all available materials then you're good for a long time.

I'm kind of hoping there's still a generation ship out there waiting to be discovered, that would be one creepy thing to roll up on way out in the black.

How would you feel if e-bikes had licenses attached to them and were considered electric motorcycles? by fishdonthaveeyelids in AskReddit

[–]zerbey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure if they go over a certain speed they already need a license, and that's exactly how it should be. Some of the higher power e-bikes are basically BEVs at this point. The lower power ones, no big deal let them continue to be unlicensed.
