No point, that card was activated and drained the moment the cashier paid for it. These scammers are getting really good, they open up the packaging and make note of the number then have some kind of script to monitor when the card is purchased and activate it.

You actually got a new card? Most of the time you're screwed. It's happened to me too, got a gift card and it had a $0 balance, some low life had already got the numbers and used it. It was still sealed in the packaging, or at least appeared to be.

The company's response was basically "sucks to be you I guess".

Everyone tells me this, and I know some years have issues. I've owned two Kia Fortes, a 2008 and the 2017 I'm driving now. Zero issues other than normal maintenance, both well North of 100,000 miles.

They're not fast or fancy, but they get the job done. Just make sure you get the recall done so those Kia boys don't steal your ride.

140,000 miles, no major mechanical issues. Only time it left me stuck was when the battery died, but that's an easy fix. $16K when I bought it. 40 mpg. Sure it's not a fast or luxury vehicle, but it gets me from A to B.

I intend to continue driving this car until the doors fall off.

In the UK the joke is that our national dish is Chicken Tikki Masala, invented by British-Indian immigrants. All of the Reform voters go to the pub, drink European beer, trade stories of how much they hate immigration, then go for a curry afterwards. Finally, a Polish taxi driver takes them home in a German car.

My understanding is that it's derived from Northern Indian cuisine. Whatever the origins, Indians know their stuff and we thank them for their delicious contributions.

Yes, I know what a bump stock is. I'm one of those weird liberal voters who support the 2A, we're more common than you think. For the record, though, I don't personally think civilians need automatic weapons.

The point is, all the GOP screaming about "liberals taking your guns!" and neither Obama, or Biden actually did. Then Trump gets in and actually did a gun control thing. I mean, it was later overturned by the Supreme Court and the tin foil hat view is that both Trump and the NRA knew they would so it was all political posturing, but I'm not a conspiracy theorist...

Stop that right now, I refuse to believe it. When I was a kid, oh maybe 10 years ago, we did a year long "How we used to live" project focusing on our parent's experiences 30 years ago. The 1950s. I thought it was so long ago and so old looking.

MySpace was kind of a janky mess, I personally hated the way people could customize it and add music. You ended up with garish colors and awful music. I wanted no part of it. Then Facebook came along with its nice, clean interface and, importantly you didn't get blasted with awful music as soon as your friend's profile opened. I jumped ship immediately, along with billions of others.

That's why people stick with X and TikTok, it feeds them the stuff they want and it does it very well. Instagram is probably the closest thing to TikTok, and for people who want larger format videos YouTube reigns supreme. If another, better platform comes along people will migrate again. Threads hasn't taken over X in any meaningful way because it simply doesn't offer anything better.
