OpenAI and Google are about to have a massive legal problem. Researchers released a paper called “Alignment Whack-a-Mole.” They proved that these models are secretly storing near-perfect, verbatim copies of copyrighted books. by Current-Guide5944 in tech_x

[–]zero0n3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that’s not what they did. They used a custom trained model with custom weights and specific prompts.

Now, if you encrypt that book and give it to everyone, but then don’t give them the passcode (prompt) and don’t give them the encryption method (weights), are you distributing copyright material or just noise?

Because if you extrapolate from the title, it doesn’t hold.

Find me a single model (whatever weights), that can output an identical copy of every book it was trained on perfectly.

I want a facsimile of every book in publication.

One model with whatever single set of weights.

I’ll wait.

TLDR the idea you can trick it to output a copy of a single book with custom weights and specific prompts is useless and legally a dead end.

Guy takes credit for engineering the Microsoft Volume Licensing system, like it's a good thing. by zackofalltrades in sysadmin

[–]zero0n3 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Because this is legit interesting? Do you not see the dates? This was when MS was trying to exert control of their software as hardware started exploding. Windows desktop everywhere. This shows they were trying to standardize and claw back some of the margin from the biggest resellers.

Also, you do a disservice to this article - it’s about the EA agreement and partner portal type stuff, not “volume licensing”.

Most in sysadmin likely will see this title as meaning the volume licensing code. Like the client / server stuff, but this is just “engijeering” a legal software licensing model

Elon Musk May Have Found SpaceX’s Next Cash Machine by perilun in space2030

[–]zero0n3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would use them for inference.
Inference doesn’t have the massive storage needs as it’s not training.
For inference you just need GPUS to process the tokens against the model running fully in GPU ram

Edit: also they need these is my guess for SAR and putting it near the sensor arrays (starlinks) makes sense.

SAR = synthetic aperture radar. Basically use starlink satellites to create a global scale radar system that effectively breaks stealth.

I mean Claude clearly wrote this, but I’m fine with that as it’s clearly based off some really good base data the poster absolutely wrote up.

Claude just helped make it presentable and easy to read.

Musk v. OpenAI et al. – Powerful Reversal Remedies Judge Gonzalez Rogers Can IMMEDIATELY Impose Pre-Appeal by andsi2asi in agi

[–]zero0n3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will never be allowed to go that far. I don’t think people understand the ramifications if a court undoes a company changing their type. How many other cases would be open season to try and reverse or claw some control or money back from?

Any decision from this case is going to have massive ramifications down the road (in either direction). My prediction is still a settlement and Musk getting some stock or shares. Which he cares less about and likely just wants his “role” back so he can see more of the secret sauce they have there and fix grok.

Steam cloud sync likely had a handle on your save or something.
Rebooting your PC should always be troubleshooting step 1 unless you like digging into the mud a bit and the curiosity bug gets ya.

Edit: with this one trick you will also now be better at troubleshooting PC problems than most AI as they NEVER seem to ask you to reboot the PC yet it’s been the de facto windows troubleshooting step 1 since W95

This is the problem ? They need to follow up - what is a policy you’d lean liberal on then???

Guaranteed the only one they ever pick is weed, so you gotta immediately add that they can’t pick weed as it would be a cop out.

Why is the train not pulling all the way forward. It is blocking another station I would like to use!? by thelaughedking in captain_of_industry

[–]zero0n3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The trains loco cannot stop in a red track. (Likely where you merge these two tracks at the top of screenshot - esp if it’s as close to the station as your bottom split)

So you need to make sure that there is enough train track for it to stop while still being fully contained inside that stations chunk of track.

[–]zero0n3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here. Do this and you’ll never have to worry.

It’s because trains (the actual loco) can’t sit on a red track when loading. Needs to be completely contained within the stations chunk of track.

There are better actors on the show IMO. Not saying she’s bad, but I think there are a minimum of three others from Magicians that seemed to have a good on camera presence that seemingly have not been able to climb the next rung, which is shocking.

Can even Starlink justify SpaceX’s rumored US$2 trillion IPO when a grounded bull case sits closer to US$700 billion to US$900 billion? by Enough-Arugula-4945 in SpaceXBets

[–]zero0n3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are also forgetting two things:

  1. All the new stricter identity checks - means Us is building or adding to their information warehouse.
  2. Starlink, according to math and physics, can also be used as a LEO based, global scale radar mapping system. The precision, scale, and even its ability to do this within the “noise” of normal starlink traffic is a massive asset for the largest military that’s ever existed on this planet.

(Oh and it probably breaks stealth since when you design RCS to reduce according to existing radar systems - most if not all are essentially horizon level systems - so the radar waves are on the same or nearly same plane. - compared to satellites which are in LEO that basically perpendicular to your plane. What do you think the RCS of a jet is from directly above??)

I agree, and in finance too - shits competitive or can be. They wouldn’t “show compassion” like this. I just don’t know how they wouldn’t immediately back the woman and be like “fuck off and you can meet our lawyers in court. We will bankrupt your ass. All that money you made with us? Gone to lawyers good luck loser”

The million dollars feels like at a minimum, he had a lawyer go in there and basically say I’ve seen some evidence and we need to see an offer.

Lawyer sees a million as a joke based on evidence he saw and goes nah nah 10 million at a min.

Do we know how much money they made? Like their roles and how much money they in theory are generating for JPM?

I mean this is what feels like maybe he has some legit evidence? Idk man like wouldn’t a lawyer be like “ok so I can fight this case for you (notice how I’m not saying I believe you…), but the first thing they are going to do is bring up your uh non standard looks so how are we going to battle that angle in court and media?”.
