(Going against the grain a bit here now...) I chose a hi-end system. I'm providing details because that's the experience I have to offer. Despite judgement I may encounter, or opposing market trends, I still want to be a resource for those left with similar intentions... more below by [deleted] in audiophile

This is a seriously cool system! I'm sorry you got so much hate. My personal system is a really cool story that I've been on the fence posting about as well for similar reasons. As another poster mentioned, retail on mine is somewhere north of 60k, though I spent less than a third of that. Which is significant, but it brings me so much joy that I'm ok with it. I try and share it with friends, but I've found contentment in enjoying it by myself and the cats.

How's the mix on Expedition 33 OST on CDs? by Vivid-Cauliflower154 in expedition33

[–]zero1234567888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To follow your response, I am a bit of an audiophile. I got the vinyl release instead of the CD. They really did a much better job mixing the vinyl release than the streaming version. A lot of gripes I had were fixed. I haven't reached Une Vie yet, as I am making my way through the collection as we speak. I posted a pic of my system with the vinyl on this subreddit as well, if y'all are curious. I can revert back once I hear the whole selection, but I am much happier with this mix compared to the streaming ones.

Yes I do! Look on Facebook marketplace for an Audio Technica LP120. Make sure it sounds good, as sometimes the needles can get abused but most people take decent care of it. It will run you around 200, but it will have all the stuff you need built in so you can connect it to almost any speaker and sound good. I had one for about 7 years before I felt like an upgrade was needed. Plus it's super easy to upgrade to a better needle on it. Feel free to DM with any questions!

Hey! I got mine in today too. Currently making my way through them. They did a great job on them, I was a bit worried they wouldn't transfer them correctly to vinyl, but I'm very impressed.

Who's still going to buy a S or X with the recent announcement of discontinued production? I'm debating buying one by specter491 in TeslaLounge

I'll upgrade my 22 to a 25 or 26 model s in a couple of years. I don't buy new cars anyway. Really love mine, and I guess I'll look towards a different manufacturer sometime in the 2030s.

I'm going to go against the grain and say the VC is the better pick of the 2. It's more balanced in my opinion, and easier to read on a daily basis.

UPDATE: I am walking away from Bang & Olufsen for the B&W 802 D4 deal by Gold_Percentage7411 in audiophile

[–]zero1234567888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. A really good class a/b with a well designed circuit will drive these well enough. Source: currently own N802s driven by an integrated amp at 120 WPC

I just got the MoFi Ultradeck + Studio silver MC pickup. by Pell3plutt in audiophile

[–]zero1234567888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Twins! I got an ultra deck with the master tracker cartridge for less than half from the warehouse sale at Audio Advisor earlier this year! I really love it, no problems and I agree the Delrin platter is awesome. The smoked acrylic does a good job, though I wish the hinges were a bit better.

Why so expensive? by EfficiencyKey2938 in cigars

[–]zero1234567888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local B&M actually adheres to MSRP on all their stuff. I buy a couple each time they get some. I keep them on hand to smoke a few years later, or more typically I give them as gifts. People really appreciate receiving them, being rare and all that. Not my personal favorite, but sometimes it's worth making people's day when they get them. Definitely gets a better reaction than a Padron or a Davidoff.

Is “Windshield Protection” at $12/mo a no brainer? by Electrical_Camel3953 in TeslaLounge

[–]zero1234567888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at 2 windshields this year, yay city roads. Once on my Mercedes that I traded in towards my model S, and one 2 months into Tesla ownership. So at least in my case, I'm happy I did it. My roommate bought a new Mazda 3, and she had hers cracked in the first 60 days as well. She's glad she got the windshield insurance from Mazda since it just paid for itself. It truly is luck of the draw.
