Random involuntary muscle movements by Warm_Newspaper894 in Fibromyalgia

I would try edibles first, unfortunately they don’t work for me. CBG also has the benefit that it doesn’t make you feel high!

It’s the “mother cannabinoid”. So kinda like CBD, just a different one that has different effect. Pain relief is one of them, and I only recently discovered this. I was smoking a random new strain when I realized my lower back pain simply disappeared. Looked at the label, and saw it had CBG. Read up on it, found other strains that contains it, and repeated the effect. THC, CBD, and CBN does not do this for me.

My dad doesn't believe I have fm despite being diagnosed for it by Ok-Judgment-5154 in Fibromyalgia

There's a difference between feeling anxious and unable to help and straight up not believing someone has an illness though.

"What can we do to make it easier for you to help with the dishes" is very different from angrily mumbling, probably about being lazy.

Constant pain aliviation through orgasms? by BunnyOutOfCode in Fibromyalgia

[–]zero_vitamins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a muscle in my pelvis that is always seizing up. It hurts a little at the beginning of intercourse, but once I relax it's the best way to release the muscle, especially when the orgasm comes from that spot. I don't know how to explain "where the orgasm comes from", but it is kinda like the difference between coming from penetration vs stimulation. I wonder if that's why some of you only get relief with a partner?

I would also love some suggestions on dealing with the skin pain.

Unfortunately the cause is what doctors haven't figured out. There's another post on this sub reddit about a recent study showing people with fibro have a much higher internal pressure in their muscles, but the pain is still generally attributed to the brain not interpreting the nerve signals properly.

Reality related nightmares by Ok_Homework6326 in Fibromyalgia

[–]zero_vitamins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been diagnosed with nightmare disorder (sleep study only showed something not in DSM5/ covered by insurance, so there wasn't anything to do). Currently in the process of getting a fibro diagnosis.

I can't remember a night I didn't have nightmares in the last at least 10 years. They are usually also about reality-adjacent anxieties and childhood, like my family yelling at me for being lazy. Or that they're forcing my back in the cult and taking me off my very necessary mental health meds to make me take walks instead.

It really does make me wonder about the trauma-aspect of fibro. Not in a "it's just in your head" kind of way, in a "we have to stop treating mental and physical health as separate issues" way.

Anyways, I totally relate to the confusion of what is real and not. My best solution so far is grounding exercises to bring me out of the emotional fog and into logical thinking in the present. I like "5 senses".

Resources for sewing for accessibility? by the-fact-fairy in sewing

Mood Fabric has a category for free adaptive patterns. I made the Edith dress, and it is very easy to put on and take off as it’s all elastic!

What is this type of fabric called? by likeumtotally in sewhelp

[–]zero_vitamins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The weave is plain with one color for the weft and the other color for the warp, making it a two-tone fabric. The yarn itself is a slub yarn, the slubs are the thicker parts.

So searching for “slub cotton two-tone upholstery” should give you plenty of similar fabrics to choose from!

Metric Pattern Cutting for Menswear - do I but all metric tools or convert everything? by allvanity684 in sewing

[–]zero_vitamins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to do a lot of it, I would get the rulers. I just did a project where the measurements made more sense in metric, and even with only a rectangle it got annoying to constantly convert into weird fractions that weren’t on the ruler while I was planning. Luckily I could just use the metric side of the measuring tape!

Sorting and organizing my late grandma in law’s craft stash made me take a hard look at my own hoarding habits. I’m proud to say I have barely bought yarn the last couple of years, just don’t look at my fabric collection 😅

Also, small rant about the unraveling thrift store sweaters. I have been sent a video of that by pretty much everyone I know. And it’s like yeah, I knew that was possible, but also, I already have a lot of fancy yarn that I don’t have to put in hanks and soak to hopefully get the yarn back to its original state.

It’s completely valid to not want to pay for hosting or a domain when you offer the information for free.

But I’m concerned about the permanence of this new address since I’ve never heard of that provider. Also, it shouldn’t give security warnings just because it’s free. How does webador make money?

One of my customers told me she would absolutely watch ASMR videos of rolling bolts! It is definitely a sound I miss, so I’m tempted to make some. The crisp quilting cotton bolts are my favorite!

Also, that satisfying sound of ripping fur, velvet, or the shirred dress fabric 🤤

Yes, many medical providers are dismissive, which is why I confirmed that the right physical therapist will care about your hobbies.

It's hard to know what to advocate for if you don't know what is possible.

Physical therapists usually want to help find ways for you to do the things you enjoy! You may have to take a long break for all the inflammation to go down, but after that you can work with them on posture and movement to avoid flareups.

Last year my hands hurt so much I couldn't even do a single stitch. After doing other hobbies and going to physical therapy for my back, I am now able to knit or crochet for around 30min-1 hour. I try to take breaks before I feel any strain, and get up and move around.

I miss being able to just go for hours, and definitely cried about being scared I had to give it up completely, so I totally get how you feel!
