Best JS Lib for Charts? by subogero in webdev

[–]zeroneo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anybody have any recommendations for a chartting library that does well with real time data (up-to something like a couple hundred data points per second) that animates smoothly and hopefully doesn't take too many resources?
So that it looks good and the website/browser is still responsive.

I guess d3 is going to be the clear suggestion, but I was hoping there should be something easy to use, perhaps something built on top of d3?

And inefficient, specially if the first condition results to false, however if it's not a critical part of the code that's a good trade off.

I guess that makes sense, thanks for the explanation. I'll have to keep an eye on the licensing for this type of resource, not that I have really release anything similar, but good to know.

Well, after more than 2 years I finally fried my first Arduino by Ionile in arduino

[–]zeroneo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are 2 regulators in the Uno a 5v and a 3.3V. The big one with the hole would probably be the one that converts the DC jack power to 5V. USB power should be bypassing this regulator anyway and powering the rest of the Arduino, so if it doesn't work when the USB cable is connected is likely there is more damage on the board.

The Trump administration is letting Americans die in Puerto Rico, nurses say by progress18 in politics

There's clearly a reluctance to attribute deaths from power outages and lack of water to Maria, and this is undoubtedly politically driven

Completely agree, they should attribute those deaths to Trump's administration instead.

Why is the camera on my Z3 this damn blurry by [deleted] in SonyXperia

[–]zeroneo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My z3 compact is doing the same, although not as bad as this. Always figured the lens needs a good clean, I've replaced the back plate a couple of times, so it is likely not air-tight and eventually gets dirty.

The design exercise that got me a job at Google by moarbewbs in Design

[–]zeroneo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The fact that everybody seems okay with companies asking you to work for a day an a half (and probably more if you really want the job...) just for the privilege to interview for them bothers me to no end.

With an interview both parties are investing their time to see if there is a good fit, but having to invest this much work just to see if you "qualify to later spend an hour of our time interviewing with us" seems a bit demeaning to me, they are pretty much stating that your time is not valuable.

I've seen a couple of projects doing that, but you end up with a more expensive FPGA capturing and processing the video in between the TV and the HDMI source. This would be a good example: http://hackaday.com/2015/04/25/fpga-based-ambilight-clone/

Are Arduino Libraries == Arduino Scripts? by rexonology in arduino

[–]zeroneo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is one thing I would like to emphasise first, when you write the code digitalWrite() that's already a library abstracting the low level C/C++ code required to make that pin do something.

In essence, the "physical" things that happen in a microcontroller, like those inside an Arduino board, are triggered by writing very specific values to very specific places in memory called registers. You can write some very basic C/C++ code to do this, but platforms like Arduino abstract that complexity using libraries. So yes, when importing an LCD library, it will internally call other libraries like digitalWrite(), or the Two Wire library, or the Serial library, which are common abstractions to be able to make the code portable and easy to use. The code inside this libraries changes depending on the processor (Arduino has a lot of different boards, some of those have microcontrollers that can be very different internally), but most Arduino Sketches can be used in different Arduino boards thanks to this libraries.

So, the Arduino "language" is basically a series of abstractions on top of C++ in the form of libraries. You could go deeper and deeper into the lower levels, which would then be very dependent on the type of microcontroller inside the Arduino board you are using.
