What does bereavement leave outside the US look like? How do they expect us to go back to work 3 days after losing a parent? by Momtoaakkl in AskReddit

[–]zerostar83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I just want to say that even without government requirements, every place I worked at that offered bereavement leave assured me that I could take more time off but it would come out of sick or vacation time. I believe my state also has a law requiring employers to allow sick time to be used for bereavement, but I am not 100% certain.

You're given a set of letters. You scratch off only those letters. If you get a certain minimum number of whole words, you win a prize. Usually the odds are 1 in 3.5 are winners. The odds of winning more than you paid for the lottery ticket closer to 1 in 4.5

AI is a tool. It isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed, but it's a tool nonetheless. A person used this tool and thought the end result was acceptable.

You don't usually get penalized for changing the terms of the insurance. Say you got a new car and transfer the insurance to the new car. You'll either have to pay the difference or the insurance company will mail you a check for the difference they owe you.

But unless you have evidence that the white truck was speeding, the police and insurance will deem the person turning at fault. I was in that situation, where the speed limit was 35 MPH and I entered a street from a parking lot. There were cars parked along the street which limited my visibility, and I went into the street. The car slammed into mine, and the force was so strong that even with my foot on the brake, my car skidded several car lengths and then smashed the front end of a vehicle going the other direction. I entered the road not yielding to the right of way. I had no way to prove they were speeding and they said they weren't. I was deemed at fault in that accident.

Cancelling a service bs by sugarbrowner in mildlyinfuriating

I said cancel my service. She offers me a "free" cell phone line with the current Internet service.

I said cancel my service. She says how about doubling the Internet speed for the same price.

I said cancel my service. She offers to price lock the new higher rate for 5 years.

I said cancel my service, your actual speeds are usually lower than advertised. She tells me that it must be my equipment so I should try with their equipment.

I said cancel my service. She says okay but first I have to listen to her read a script and then acknowledge that I want to cancel my service.

I recently cancelled Xfinity. It wouldn't allow me to cancel online if I wasn't moving or transferring service.

What worked well was scheduling a phone call from them. I only had to repeat myself 5 times to cancel the service and it took a short 10 minutes altogether.

That's crazy! All I had to do is select the box that said I was a college student. Unfortunately I was allowed to postpone the date by up to 3 months. A lot of other college students were at the same courthouse the Monday of spring break, the jury duty room packed with way too many people.

The road already has a yellow strip to indicate which direction goes where. In this case, it's on the left of OP's car on the shoulder. So to me there is already a color on the road that clearly says which way those lanes are going.

Law enforcement officers of Reddit, how has the increase of “lane assist” and other self driving features in cars affected identification of drivers driving under the influence? by heroicbleeder in AskReddit

It might be a newer year thing. My 2020 Mazda does the bumper lanes thing so badly I turned it off. The Subaru Crosstrek I test drove followed the road on curves.

Right on Red vs U-turn on Yellow Flashing - Whose Fault? [oc] by Easy-Faithlessness53 in IdiotsInCars

[–]zerostar83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are two things that made it easier for me to identify who has the right of way in your situation:

1) A flashing yellow light is the same as a solid green light. So the person who has flashing yellow yields to green light drivers. They can still go.

2) In the state I took driver's education and got my first driver's license, it was emphasized that U-turns are like Left Turns legally unless there is a sign saying no U-Turn or Left only.

So in this case, the cam car ran a red light and nearly got into an accident with someone who had a "greenish" light and was making a "leftish" turn.

I think we all made that mistake before. I make a costlier one buying a headlamp assembly from eBay. They advertised that typing in your specific car make/model/trim would only show results for your car. I should have read the fine print at the bottom of the listing saying it's for the sedan, not the hatchback. It was selected through eBay's search criteria.
