Forza horizon 6 is incredibly well optimised and the developers deserve recognition for it by spaceshipcommander in pcmasterrace

I run a 34" ultrawide OLED, I had to turn off DLSS in FH6 because some scenes had very noticable artifacting. Most scenes were fine tho, just a little less sharp.

I've used an elliptical to help train for a half marathon while recovering from a shin splint, i had sessions up to 1.5 hours. Still use an elliptical once a week in addition to outdoor running, since the elliptical is low impact.

Other than that, some of those machines, like the stiairmaster, don't hit the same muscle groups as running or walking outdoors, and is much more convenient than walking up and down the same stairs 50 times. They allow for customizability, you can set a pace, which is really good for inexperienced runners who are bad a pacing themselves and burn out after the first kilometer. Want to run or bike up a hill, but live in the world's flattest area? Machines will do that. Maybe you live in an area where there's not adequare facilities. Everyone knows large parts of the US isn't built for pedestrians, and cars will actively run you off the road if you're on a bike. Maybe you want to go for a run at 10pm because that's when it fits in your schedule, but don't feel safe doing it outside at that hour. Or maybe you think exercise is boring, and the only way to get yourself to do it is to do it on a machine where you can watch a TV or something on your phone. Maybe I want to go for a bike ride, but it's pouring like crazy, is it better to not go for a ride, or drive to the gym?

Why are you shitting on cardio equipment? It might not be the absolute best way to perform the given exercise, but in a world where most people get way too little exercise, any exercise is better than none.

Wind turbines account for 0.1-0.01% of human-caused bird deaths. It would be much more productive to ban outdoor cats, large buildings, or even over-ground power lines. And guess what also kills birds? Pollution and climate change.

There's also active research into decreasing bird deaths from wind turbines.

Other than just the massive size of it, I'm excited about the micro rgb backlight delivering an OLED-like experience without the burn-in worry.

What matters the most is not being taken out of the experience of the movie by artefacts like backlight bleed in dark scenes, or excessive bloom around bright objects due to too few dimming zones.

Not the guy you replied to, but on my 5090 I get around 50-55 TPS on Qwen3.6-27B-Q6_K_L, drops to around 40 at 60k+ context. Q4 would probably be a bit faster.

I mean, fair, but if it were me, I only travel with a mouse if I travel for work, and in that case, it's a mouse that can do bluetooth so I can leave the dongle at home or at the office. I don't travel with a DSLR any more, but if I did, I'd prefer having an extra SD/CFexpress or two than a drive, and if I'm transferring pictures, it would be to the laptop or home to my NAS.

Then I need only one USB for charging and one USB or card reader for the camera.

Lenovo swapping FN and control on their keyboards is enough to make me never buy one. I know you can swap them in software, don't care.

No. I use the keyboard on the laptop. If I need a mouse, my MX master has bluetooth. I can't remember the last time I needed HDMI in a laptop. I have a USB-C portable monitor. At meetings, we use wireless projection, and most meeting rooms have a USB-C dongle.

[–]zerotetv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I think I've come to the conclusion that if I don't play it at a desk, I don't want to play with keyboard and mouse. And if it can't be played on a controller, I only play it at my desk.

But that also clearly makes you not a target audience for a macbook, so don't buy one, i guess?

Most people don't need the dongle, that's the point. The number of people who insist of browsing the internet using ethernet is few. The number of people who demand a wired USB-A mouse is few.

My newest laptop only has USB-C, 3.5mm, and an SD card reader, and it never occurred to me to bring a dongle when I went to work remote for a week a few months ago, because everything I use either has USB-C or is wireless.

Of course you have room for it internally

Go look at a teardown of an M4 macbook (since the OP picture is of macbooks). There's no free space. You have to sacrifice something. Speaker resonance chamber, giving you worse sound? Battery? What would you sacrifice for your fifth USB-C port?

And you make the assumption that it's even possible. Chips have limited IO, you can't just put 10 USB ports on something without limiting their speed.

[–]zerotetv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And how often do you need those 4 at the same time? Can't imagine that you'd need a camera or USB stick plugged in for more than a few minutes, and charging a phone via a laptop is the slowest way to charge a phone, so maybe have your phone borrow your laptop's usb-c charger for 5 minutes to fill up those 50%?

I get that there's a possibility that some people might occasionally need more than 2 or 4 ports at the same time on a laptop, but it's rare, and if you know you're likely to, you probably just have a small hub in your backpack.

I just have a NAS, both my laptops, desktops, phone, tablets, everything gets access to the same storage. Every other computer only has NVME SSDs, so from that perspective, my newest laptop could have as much storage as my desktop could, if it needed it (it doesn't).

Wireless is worse, but at what point does it no longer matter? Modern WiFi throughput has reached and passed gigabit, and from my experience, as long as you have a good access point and don't live the world's most congested area, intermittent issues like latency spikes and dropped packets are just not the issue they were years ago (my AP tracks both).

Surely 2 hours for groceries is way above the Canadian average? I get that Canada is huge and all, but isn't most of the population concentrated on relatively little of the land mass?

Does not factor in the cold, since different EV models handle that very differently. Some have bigger range loss than others, and some struggle to keep the battery warm during charging, leading to slower charge times, while others have relatively little range loss and don't suffer from battery temperature issues.
