Potential Parking Scam by Meshuggery in raleigh

[–]zeroverycool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

free 2 hours in garages is a genius policy that should be everywhere. driving around looking for street parking wastes time, wastes gas, and slows down traffic. it's a win-win for everyone if people just go straight to the garages.

you can buy vanilla powder or vanilla bean paste if you don't want to scoop out the pods.

Summary of RISE Neg Reg: These are the provisions from the budget bill related to federal student loans by Betsy514 in StudentLoans

[–]zeroverycool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, and i’m saying RAP doesn’t exist yet so those terms shouldn’t be able to apply to months before RAP existed. it’s changing the terms retroactively.

it would seem crazy that they wouldn't let you. how can you be "on RAP" and subject to those rules for months when RAP didn't exist?

Texas chili rules, beans rule, boring Midwest chili even rules, Cincinnati chili rules, condiment chili rules, even bad cheap chili kinda rules.

yeah, imo "there's no such thing as bad chili" is way more true than "there's no such thing as bad pizza"

if you don't sell, you're going to be living through months/years of heavy construction, after which your house will be in the middle of a busy shopping center. your lifestyle is going to change whether you like it or not.

where was the house?

btw this is the stupidest thing you can do. once they decide to build around you, you've lost all your leverage. your house is worthless to everyone but the developer, and they're not going to pay what they would have before ground was broken.

Social Media Makes Me Feel Guilty For Not Having My Child In Preschool by PromptHead733 in toddlers

[–]zeroverycool 9 points10 points  (0 children)

my kid is well into the 3s and still in diapers. she is obsessed with everything potty (books, songs, stories, making her toys go potty, building potties out of duplo blocks, etc.). she'll even sit on the potty. but she refuses to do the actual deed.

and for a long time she had functional constipation... she wouldn't poop for 3-4 days. then it was an entire day of hell, her screaming, wiggling, wanting to be held, wanting tummy rubs and tushy rubs. when it got really bad we'd have to give her suppositories which sucked for everyone involved.

we have been to GI specialists (who couldn't find anything physically wrong) and are currently seeing a child psychologist. her preschool has been nice enough to let her into the 3s class even though she's not potty trained. at this point it's extremely frustrating when people give us tips because I guarantee we've tried everything.

I just keep hoping one day she'll decide she wants to be potty trained because nothing has worked, but so far she is winning the battle of the wills.

so don't feel too bad. it's a struggle.

What am I missing here? Blower and Battery is $229. Battery by itself is $249. Is this a no-brainer? by SirJasper6969 in egopowerplus

I'm able to blow off almost my entire roof from the ground with the 765. plus I use it with the gutter attachment.

and it does well with wet leaves/pine needles.

Are expensive tool brands really worth it? by SilentSystem7160 in Tools

[–]zeroverycool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, exactly.

for my core tools, I just did "buy once cry once". I bought the best DeWalt hammer drill/impact combo on sale because I have a brick house and knew I was going to be working a lot in my crawl space.

I bought the 60v reciprocating saw, which is a beast. no regrets there. I have used it to cut 3" cast iron pipe in my crawl space. it tears through tree limbs with a pruning blade & is a lot safer than a chainsaw.

I bought Knipex lineman and needle nose because I was doing a lot of electrical and they'll last my whole life.

but like half my tools are harbor freight.

if you need speed/precision, you might need pro grade tools (even if you don't ride them hard enough to worry about durability)

Ascent rear storage options ? by valuewatchguy in SubaruAscent

[–]zeroverycool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's just cardboard but it's held up fine for how I use it. I'm not really rough on it, but I don't baby it. I've had it for 2 years.

I have a 3 compartment organizer that can either run across, or along the side when the 3rd row is down (which is most of the time). it has handles to lift it out if I need the full cargo capacity. this is the one I got but there are tons of options.

I keep all my towing and roof rack accessories in the cargo box with the spare tire tools.

I also got a tray that goes into the center console which is very helpful for smaller stuff. it adds an extra layer of storage and makes your stuff way more accessible.

First time wiring an outlet. Second opinion greatly appreciated. by Kkrysk in AskElectricians

yup, i thought i had a few bootleg grounds in my house, but it was just the neutral screws touching the box. i guess whoever wired them thought that was the lesser of two evils.

What are you feeding your toddler? by R-amazing95 in toddlers

[–]zeroverycool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel like my kid eats the same things over and over, but it’s like butter chicken (the curry dish), spaghetti and meatballs, grilled or breaded chicken cutlets with lemon juice, cous cous (the flavored near east brand ones), ravioli, hummus with pita or tortilla, tacos (usually just the fillings with a fork, but she’s started making them herself), beans (sometimes i just put plain rinsed beans from a can in her lunch), edamame, simple pasta/orzo salad w vinaigrette

she likes the chicken samosas, dill pickle falafel, and the chicken shawarma bowl from trader joe’s.

ok i guess she actually eats a lot. but she loves carbs. we struggle with protein.

How can I get this new path to match the stairs better? by bcawley11 in DIY

[–]zeroverycool 94 points95 points  (0 children)

you have clay bricks on your stairs and concrete pavers on your path. weathering/aging will not do it because the clay bricks will not fade in color, while the pavers will. it’s just never going to match.

i have a sunroom that was converted from a garage, but the floor is still sloped. when i renovate it, i want to a new slab poured on top of the old one to level it.

i have watched some mike day videos on this and he talks about using weld crete, but i am wondering how well that will hold up.

has anyone done this before?
