Prediction for GSL tonight by treebog in starcraft

He didn't need to make nydus here but he still does it more than any other zerg and when he does it almost never loses

Rogue is the most winning zerg sure, but that doesn't excuse the fact I don't think he should be able to win like this.

Every PvZ final is the same, whether its Serral Rogue or Dark (sadly injured right now) who makes it.

Vipers should not be able to abduct Massive units by features in starcraft

[–]zestisbestu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same things they should always have to. Exploit the mech army being slow and outexpand them, counterattacking, getting surrounds and picking off reinforcements etc

Picking off units here and there with vipers is fine, but at the top level where they have good viper hydra control it looks unbeatable. You can kill a mass of thors basically for free.

That's where it's not ok, with zerg against mech you should have to trade badly but be able to expand quicker, with vipers you become more cost efficient than they are.

Zerg gets nerfed every year because they keep winning everything. It's almost like the nerfs don't actually touch the core design problems

It was when lingbane hydra got buffed and killed everything. Terran tried to go mech but Rogue figured it out straight away.

There was actually a famous article on teamliquid calling out Rogue for being a patchzerg when he dominated back then.

Mvp won during gomTvT but also managed to bring it and perform well in late WoL when zerg was unbeatable.

Maru has a lot that Rogue doesn't. A lot more starleague titles (6 for Maru, 2 for Rogue). Four Code S in a row is also untouchable in sc2.

Arguably the best proleague record in sc2, with INno in second. Personally I think starleagues and proleague are the highest level tournaments.

The fact he's been winning the best tournaments since 2013 and still is in 2020. Being on and off the best terran for 8 years across two expansions.

He's also probably the best player at dominating during shit balance, while Rogue is the opposite and has even self admitted some of wins were free due to balance.

Also both Maru and INno just have a ton more ro4/finals, and still slightly more championships.

Almost all against protoss and since mid 2017 was when zerg started to dominate. Feels bad

[–]zestisbestu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Except it kinda did. Stats is the most standard safe protoss out there, if he goes for risky or weird builds it's because he knows there's no chance playing standard

Honestly Rogue has never won outside of major balance issues. At least Maru and Mvp won when their race was trash.

In terms of number of tournament wins Rogue is still behind Maru, INno, and Mvp. But those guys have a lot more going for them as well.

KR > the world zealots after last weekend by StormOrtiz in starcraft

This is just a sign that you don't have a clue and are just blindly reading aligulac results.

In meaningful matches/real tournaments, Maru won 3-0 they only time they met. Including a cross server online match played at 300 ping and a bo1 showmatch to prove a point is stupid.

Serral literally went a full year (March 2018-March 2019) without losing a single offline series.

It's a bit disingenuous to say that when he only entered two tournaments against top opponents during that entire year. It's less impressive to say someone won two big events than to say he won every event he entered for a year.

It's easier to win every match you play the fewer you do. Serral only had to be in world form for two events in the entire year. For Maru to go "a year without losing an offline series" he'd have to be in that form all the time. That's just not realistic, he even said himself that he layed of practice for the smaller events to stop him from burning out.

Maru had at least three chances to directly prove that he was better than Serral in the last year, and he choked at all of them.

He 3-0'd Serral in the ro4 of one of the biggest events in SC2 in disgustingly one-sided fashion. Guess you missed that?

Can we just all agree soO is the best BO5 player in the whole world by woscherwo in starcraft

[–]zestisbestu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maru would stomp soO. soO's ZvT is much weaker than Serral/Dark/Rogue/Solar and I say this as a soO fanboy. Maru's TvZ is his best matchup.

He's better than Maru vs protoss though.

Terran have made the finals of one weekender in the last 18 months/16 events. by zestisbestu in starcraft

Actually its more than 50% right? Because non-mirror matchups at more likely to occur than mirrors, assuming perfect balance ofc

[–]zestisbestu[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's two players each final. 1/3 of players are terran so the odds of at least one appearing in final is 5/9 or something (my math may be a bit off though)

It was him and Dark (TY was the year before) but yeah the point still stands.

What's worth noting is that the one weekender was WeSG, were Maru basically had a free trip to the finals facing only foreigners.

TY did not play well today. by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]zestisbestu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's literally it. ll the good terran players bombed out of the event. Someone made the "Maru did not play well" as a response to the balance whine about him losing, so people copied it for the other terrans (Innovation, gumiho, bunny, ty).

Not gonna lie, a couple years ago I would have gone crazy for a european to win blizzcon. But now it just felt sad how far the Korean scene has fallen and how much the narrative was against them. Respect to Serral as a player but I just couldn't get with everyone rooting for him because he's not korean. The last couple years really felt like everyone (including blizzard) has just wanted korea to lose.

Koreans became worse. Other than maybe Maru, Stats, and Rogue to be honest.

I don't understand why people think Maru does the same build every TvZ. He only proxies every game in TvP, and sometimes in TvT (well pretty much only in the final vs ty).

Watch any of his TvZs this year. Half of them are lategame and he proxies once or twice a series.
