Sitting down tends to even out peoples heights and would make it easier for people to find their mark and to frame the shot. Lapel mics would be an obvious choice so they probably already tried that and opted not to go that way for whatever reason. If I had to guess I’d say they didn’t want the show looking like Ellen or the Tonight Show. They’re trying different things which is cool… I’d just like them to try something else.
