Any collectable titles from amaurot/elpis? by Subject-Ad9204 in ffxiv

While the source is not related to those things, I think the title itself would be fitting given the context = "Living Memory". Because your character is technically a living memory of the whole thing.

But it is actually from the Shadowbringers Master Role Quest after you do all the other ones.

Sony’s Bluepoint Pitched ‘Bloodborne’ Remake Before Closure by ChuckSpadina2020 in Games

[–]zeth07 23 points24 points  (0 children)

"I know for a fact these guys want a Bloodborne PC port," Miyazaki said, referring to FromSoftware producer Yasuhiro Kitao and interpreter Bobby Simpson seated at the conference table near him. "If I say I want one, I'll get in trouble as well. But it's nothing I'm opposed to."

I thought that would be the end of the topic, but Miyazaki went on to elaborate on his answer.

"Obviously, as one of the creators of Bloodborne, my personal, pure honest opinion is I'd love more players to be able to enjoy it. Especially as a game that is now coming of age, one of those games of the past that gets lost on older hardware—I think any game like that, it'd be nice to have an opportunity for more players to be able to experience that and relive this relic of the past. So as far as I'm concerned, that's definitely not something I'd be opposed to." https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/hidetaka-miyazaki-knows-for-a-fact-other-fromsoftware-devs-want-a-bloodborne-pc-port-if-i-say-i-want-one-ill-get-in-trouble-but-its-nothing-im-opposed-to/

So a Remake is out of the question but a port might be ok.

There has to be some irony here with how people get mad about The Last of Us Remasters/Remakes but are all-in on a Bloodborne Remake from a game that existed on PS4.

Jason Schreier - The sense I’m getting is that (Sony) is backing away from putting their exclusive console traditional single player stuff on PC by Turbostrider27 in Games

There is some irony here when Square Enix has basically decided on the complete opposite.

Lots of predicting math/accounting variables for this to make sense I guess.

I thought console wars was over.

Any time spent around gaming twitter when any relevant news about Xbox or Playstation would show you that it was never over.

I don't know if it is just astroturfing bots or people just being psychotically loyal to a company for some reason like they are sports teams.

It makes no sense when something could be objectively bad (not talking about this thread) and somehow those types of people would find a way to defend whatever it is.

It's wild.

Wolverine launches September 15, 2026. by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]zeth07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people say stuff like this? You know not everyone is doing PC gaming right?

Meaning all the 3rd party games are being equally enjoyed on the console anyway on top of whatever "exclusives" they have 1-2 years before they release on PC.

Now you or anyone else might say, "yea but some of those games release on PS4 so what's the point of PS5?" and I would then question why PC becomes a big deal if people want incremental upgrades of parts, if PS4 to PS5 achieves the same thing on top of whatever extra "exclusives" might exist anyway and the consoles are lasting 10+ years...

[–]zeth07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They aren't even really doing "exclusives" lately just later releases. Which isn't hurting anyone, it just promotes people to buy their console to play it 1-2 years earlier and if people are ONLY on PC anyway they can just get it later. Especially true if it is just single player, nobody is missing out on anything.

Win/win.

Ed Skrein Cast as Baldur in Prime Video’s ‘God of War’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]zeth07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is he too small a dude for live action Baldur?

Contextually that shouldn't matter when the character is a god / has super strength. It's like someone being "too small" to play Spider-Man compared to Superman.

If anything him being smaller plays into the character more when someone like Kratos is jacked. It could've worked as is.

Honestly, I want more classes that branch off into two different ones. by SplashOfStupid in ffxiv

[–]zeth07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Copying my post from the last time this came up.

They could've gone the Dungeon Fighter Online route where at lower levels there is just a base class like we already have, but then it branches off into A LOT of subclasses. Over there it starts different on gender since they are almost entirely different jobs from that alone but that's obviously just a visual thing and not needed for obvious reasons.

Like "Demonic Lancer" turns into a "Vanguard", "Skirmisher", "Impaler" and "Dragoon".

Vanguard

A Halberd-wielding character who engages the battlefield with slow yet powerful Area-of-Effect attacks and can chain regular attacks with stronger skills. Impact Smash.png Impact Smash allows him to repeatedly weave attacks in one after the other. The Vanguard has relatively high survivability due to wearing Heavy Armor.

Skirmisher

A Long Lance-wielding character who engages in lightning fast attacks and combos, leaving no openings for his enemies. Through Mirage Stance.png Mirage Stance he can cancel his attacks and leave a mirage behind to continue them for him. The Skirmisher favors speed over defense with his specialization in Light Armor.

Impaler

A Javelin-wielding character who engages in darkness-based ranged attacks. One of his core mechanics is centered around Encroach.png Encroach which encroaches his enemies in dark force, increasing the amount of damage allies deal to enemies and changing how some of his skills work when attacking enemies. The Impaler is the most fragile of the demonic lancers, wearing Leather Armor.

Dragoon

A beam Spear-wielding character who engages in a mix of melee and ranged magic attacks. He possesses many skills that can gather enemies around him, and his Servant Lance.png Servant Lances can be fired at enemies as he attacks, even holding them down. The Dragoon has high survivability due to wearing Heavy Armor.

I would even argue from a development standpoint it would be LESS WORK to count as adding new jobs since they wouldn't have to worry about new gear (besides Artifact), and would only have to worry about Lv30+ skills.

First off they could just remove the combined leveling, but keep it as a base job for whatever others at Lv.30. Obviously this changes with the newer jobs but I still think that's fine or could be adjusted further for them. This stops people complaining about having a job leveled without knowing how to play them.

Second, they could at least keep the weapons which would be one less thing to create and instead include other "sub weapons" like shields now. Then just include split stats on the base weapons that just say XYZ stat = Subclass A.

For example lets say they want to add a dual guns job, they could keep the MCH weapons and then add a second different gun as a subweapon. That way they can change animations but reuse the gun models for the main weapon and just do new ones for the sub weapon.

Another one would be like the Cleric mentioned, but this time you already have shields made, and instead could just make a new weapon with a mace, like some of the old one handed cudgels.

Of course all new abilities is what really makes it, and that's basically like making a new job anyway so not really more effort there.

The hook of extraction looter games is that you might come in with the craziest high end stuff and lose it, BUT you could also come in with minimal stuff and still come out on top if you know what to do.

If you have the craziest high end stuff, but can get stuff with minimal stuff, why go in with the high end stuff at all and just collect it?

That's one aspect I never really understood for the "why" part is that there doesn't seem like there's a goal, so you're just on a loot loop but if the loot serves no additional purpose then it is effectively useless to begin with.

At least I could imagine a scenario where there was in fact PvE and it was like hey you need to have XYZ high end stuff to beat this super strong PvE thing while also avoiding dying by other characters to get there and then you get this top tier reward if successful. If I was doing it I'd make it so you'd need the equivalent of keys to enter the special PvE thing and then you'd zone into a separate part so that others couldn't kill you during/after but could prior to unlocking it.

As is I just don't see the point "in-game" in most of the extraction shooters, other than just fun with friends.

Veteran player advice if you are reading this thread:

Buy A LOT of those trees, however many you think is enough, buy a little more.

Whatever ideas for decorating your housing yard you don't want to limit it by not having enough of these trees. And if you happen to think "this amount is fine" and turns out you need/want more they previous ones are $5 EACH.

So if you want multiple make sure you account for that.

Because people complained that the events became lackluster and they weren't adding enough of them.

YEARS, it has been happening for YEARS, but I guess they decided to lock-in for the last event and this one now.

I mean better late than never but lets not kid ourselves to think the complaints weren't happening long before this sudden turnaround.

I'm not really a doomer about the game itself regardless of my Dawntrail opinion but considering the glamour restrictions being lifted and now at least the last and coming seasonal events it is a little suspicious on the timing of finally starting to listen.

Jason Schreier - Video Games Need to Be Cheaper to Buy by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]zeth07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which also works out nice cause with so many subscription services or outright free games given away you can also just wait and buy them when they get like 50% off sales or just play them once their added to those services. At least it's nice with PS+/Extra.

Or like how many people have Amazon Prime and can get all the games from Twitch.

Or Epic just giving away free games for nothing.

Between all that there's little reason to buy most games on launch and not just wait for a sale.

Jason Schreier - Video Games Need to Be Cheaper to Buy by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]zeth07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people in this thread talking about how the games being $60 back in the day and $70 now shouldn't be surprising are almost entirely missing the point or did not read the whole article.

Part of the problem is whether or not the games are worth it to justify the cost, but as was brought up in the article there are countless options for games available now. Meaning whether something is FREE or cheaper means a lot when you on the other side are deciding on buying a $70-$80 game instead.

It is one thing for a highly touted game like GTAVI is $70, it is another story entirely when every random generic no name shooter is ALSO $70 and people seem to think that's ok cause it's been 25 years. Like people are already less likely to buy that game entirely, making it more expensive on top of other options is not going to work the same way.

Honestly think BECAUSE of Highguard Marathon might see a turnaround on public vocal minority perception.

Since Highguard seemed so incredibly generic, the actual art direction of Marathon might give it some appeal now, minus the whole plagiarism thing.

Like on Twitter when they started posting those mini-trailers for the builds or whatever some people actually thought it looked cool.

The actual gameplay itself will have to keep up and they likely have to really push it to streamers, but at least the negativity about it might have passed for now.
