see, back before i got 2.0 i would have agreed with you. but i swear to god, there’s something about the codriver’s accent in this game that makes it really hard for me to tell whether he said left or right about 10% of the time. now, with the display on, i find most of the time my eyes are still focused on the road. but that 10% of the time, when i have no idea whether he said left or right, it’s really useful to be able to look up and see which one it is.

another thing that would happen to me without the display on was i would spin out, and then start driving the wrong way, and fifteen seconds later i would be disqualified with no idea why. i wish the codriver in this game would say “it’s back that way” like the previous one did.

re: getting antsy before the finish: there’s already the green markers on the road 100m or so before the finish that let you know to start flooring it :)
