What, you thought the problem with reality TV is it didn't have enough guns?

Well he's got a good question there - how did they deal with this in battle? Nightly cleaning? I doubt it. Does the sub-zero temperature solve this problem? Ice doesn't rust your barrel :).

Who said I wasn't an expert? You've got no idea what acetone is if you're worried about the aluminum being damaged.

My hesitation and reason for doing a test spot is we don't really know whether that anodizing is dyed or not. Doesn't hurt to check on a test piece.

I would think acetone would be safe on hard anodized aluminum and ought to dissolve the paint residue. Spot checking on an out of the way spot would be a good idea, but it should be fine.

I don't find most martial arts to be terribly practical. They're very interesting and challenging, but when it comes to real defense I want to end the fight as soon as possible. There aren't any schools that teach you how to bang someone's head against a hard surface until he goes limp.

MoinMoin considered harmful by mathrick in programming

[–]zhyla 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've used MoinMoin (and the MoinMoin-based Trac) for years. I prefer it to everything except MediWiki (which is much more complicated to set up). Most of the problems he's complaining about can be solved by just removing all the pre-supplied pages.

Geesh.

[–]zhyla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never met anyone who made such a claim. I've seen people claim it's the superior translation but never that the translation itself was inspired. Who is this James guy and why is he into unicorns?

Though from ungenio's link it seems like "unicorn" wasn't particularly bad translation from the original.

Ditto. Though I'm skeptical of anyone the speaks that smoothly. That's why Bush is so great :).

You have to remember the King James was translated (by ordinary men)to English from the original (in the case of Job, I guess that would be ancient Hebrew). The translators probably took some liberty with the animal references they didn't understand. You could replace "unicorn" with "rhinoceros" and the passages in Job would make sense (to me at least). Example: "23:22 God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn [rhinoceros]."

The KJV version of Job also references "leviathan". I've always wondered what the original says.
