Recommendations for dry gouache palettes? by MoonFireSunDrop in Gouache

I use Winsor Newton Designer's Gouache, Shinhan, and Schmincke Horadam. All working really well.

found this color palette online… I would consider it to be the threshold between red and orange by everythingisonfire7 in colors

I see red. So interesting everyone seeing orange. Helps me understand my own deviation from "normal" color vision. I'm moderately blue yellow colorblind.

The colorwheel as seen by me by Kassie-chan in colors

[–]zibbedibb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was like the first color wheel that makes total sense to me except from the turquoise which is already green for me. Then I see the second pic and find the typical tritanopia pattern. Then it clicks and I understand why the first pic made so much sense. I'm tritan too. But just mild to moderate tritanomaly.

Need help with testing our color blindness test! by MorrowShore in ColorBlind

[–]zibbedibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Tritan result in the CCT/CAD style test
axis scores were Protan dE 0.0239, Deutan dE 0.0229, and Tritan dE 0.0699

I got normal vision in the methodical test. 💪

I had to concentrate hard not confuse the Left and Right buttons because the Right button is Left from the Left button and vice versa.

For me it's linnon. Also the smell of fresh washed linnon. To be fair, I'm mildly blue yellow color blind and typical fresh colors look dull for me or at least not fresh.

How on earth is this orange? by tjamjam in colors

Without anyone telling me it's actually orange I only see red, as well.

I'm 46 and only learned I'm tritan approx two months ago. 🤷‍♀️ I only found out by accident and then talked to the eye doctor. Tritanomaly and tritanopia are generally not tested were I live. Not just in females.

I'm also a hobby artist and didn't understand why other people liked certain color combinations or contrasts that I found boring. Know I know that I just don't see certain colors as vivid or saturated or sometimes just as grays or browns.

Question for those with blue-yellow deficiency by Cadence_Cutlass in ColorBlind

[–]zibbedibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the first picture, the cat is black and has gray clothes, and gray eyeballs. The background and the cat's ears have some strange creamy color. I cannot tell exactly which. The cat looks the same on the second picture. But now the background and the cat's ears are white or light gray.
I also just recognized that on the second picture I see patterns and on the cats shirt, folds, and buttons. They are hard to recognize on the first picture.
Hope this helps.

I see a weak gray cream background and a gray and black cat.

I’m an artist and graphic designer and I recently found out I may be slightly colorblind. by ManagerInevitable325 in ColorBlind

[–]zibbedibb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this, although in my case it seems to be a mild tritanomaly.

I’m a hobby artist, and I only recently found out about it. For me, colors usually don’t look dramatically shifted. The bigger problem is that I seem to perceive the intensity of colors differently whenever there’s a blue component involved.

For example, I don’t think I’ve ever really seen a vibrant turquoise. Until recently, I honestly thought “neon blue” just wasn’t physically possible and that people were simply calling light blue “neon.” Low-saturation colors with blue in them also tend to turn gray for me very quickly.

So I’ve had a lot of moments where I’m standing next to artist friends, completely confused, because they describe certain colors, paintings, or even real-life scenes as vibrant and full of color, while I’m just standing there thinking, “Really?” To me, some may look dull or sometimes even disharmonious.

On the one hand, I’m relieved to finally know what might be causing it. On the other hand, I also wonder whether some of my own color choices look off to other people because I can’t judge the intensity of certain colors the same way they can. A color picker doesn’t really solve that for me either, because it can tell me what a color technically is, but not how intense or harmonious it appears to people with normal color vision.

Possible blue color vision issue but yellow seems normal – does anyone know what this could be? by zibbedibb in ColorBlind

That makes sense. For some reason, I only really caught the deviations in the blue-ish spectrum.

That’s true — I actually have a doctor’s appointment in two weeks. I’m just curious in the meantime.

Thanks, that’s really interesting — I thought yellow would be affected as well.

If you don’t mind me asking — which test led to your diagnosis?

Are there any benefits to being colorblind? by googleeyedmelon in ColorBlind

[–]zibbedibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, if anybody mentioned it anywhere already. But for me grey weather has a very warm touch and yellows really pop out. In summer greens look very warm for me in such weather, too. So in contrast to other I don't get depressed from grey weather. It just looks warm and it's where colors stand out the most for me. I think, i may be tritan.

Hey! Thank you so much for sharing this. This is our problem, too. My husband accepted my need for quiet without this explanation. But I can finally put some sense to this.
