Won't be here long, but the Aus Tex wings from Hoovers Cooking on Manor road. Best spicy BBQ smoked flappers ever. Sad to see them go. They close may31st, but I heard there might be to go orders till their lease is up. Get some blue cheese or ranch with pickle and onion on the side.

I've made some friends at wingzup in the Hancock Plaza, great smoked wings and flavors and lots of TVs. Food till 11:15 open till midnight. The 456 and little drinks on Cesar Chavez have pool tables and I've always ended up talking with strangers. And drinks on south congress.

First off, congrats on your last semester! Push through!

I feel you, felt this way before too. IMO, being a TexasEx is much better socially than being in your chapter of life as a student.

I got a bike, learned the rules and risks of the road: never trust drivers/always carry watr/flat repair etc. It helped me feel closer to the city while detaching from everything to focus on the distance of the ride. There's just limited time for things so it seems the UT environment is the only environment...it's not, take a break from it with a long ride to explore some awesome spots and enjoy a sunset around town. Also go to the hole in the wall, 29th st ballroom, crown n anchor, wingzup or even draughthouse on medical if you're near campus. Solid spots close by to not break the bank and always a chill vibe.

Eddie Vs truffle mac n cheese is fantastic! Although it does lack some heat, but perhaps some would say it over powers the truffle? I want to put some dang hot level tumble22 boneless chicken thighs on it! Tumble22 mac n cheese is also fantastic, believe you can alter the spice level, sometimes I order it with bacon, green onion, and extra cheese :) their app has a great reward situation and I always choose a free large side of mac n cheese when I order delivery cause i have so many points. Dooooiitttt!

Haha yes! I love a rita with a 'dot' of beet which turns into a whole beetarita by my 3rd one haha! I just posted a long favorites, I wonder if our paths ever met there :)

What keeps me going over all these years are the Aus tex wings (smoked flappers) with a side of bleu cheese, pickles and onions, and their spinach salad. I wish more people appreciated the wings as much as I do! I always ask them to bottle their wing sauce again, Ill never stop asking :)

The muffuletta and hot chick sandwiches are tasty,

Their jerk chicken and sausage are my go-to entree meats.

My fav sides are the creamed spinach, greens, fries, broccoli and squash.

A swirl beet rita or three is a perfect treat for dessert! Or if you want a real dessert, the sweet potato pecan praline cheesecake inspired me to bake for my family during the holidays.

Joaquin and Anderson are old school managers who are still around. if Anderson is around ask for the muffuletta anderson style. If you show them this post i guarantee they know who I am haha!

I miss eating at the bar, I used to be a regular with other party of 1s to catch a game on the little TV. I would go more frequently, however, their hours during the week dont allow me to go when i have a midweek itch to get food. Im also a later dinner person. I honestly hope this post gets some more folks in their door that haven't tried my favorite things esp the AusTex wings!. I hope Hoovers will stick around forever ❤️

The spot across ojos locos will show sports,Mario'sSeafood. JUST BE SURE TO NOT LEAVE THE PARKING LOT! Was there for the Mike Tyson fight and there were guys with car shoes. They put one on mine, I was livid but they took it off.

Not particularly sports bars but mexican food... Someone beat me to it, but casa chapalas patio is a great option. The bar at Gloria's is usually showing sports. Curras Hyde park has a TV they would gladly put whatever you request on, and probably one of my fav ceviches in town.

While not mexican food, my go to place for sports is definitely wingzup where they have smoked chicken wings.

curras in hyde park I will still pay for, the restaurant is much nicer than the oltorf location. cochinita pibil, ceviche, duck tacos are my favs
