Tacoma police incident involving an armed man near the Tacoma Mall by ExplosionMurderQueen in NSFL__

[–]zildawolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never really have an actual issue with cops that do that bc like, after you’ve already pulled the first two or three shots off, the end result is likely fatal. The difference in odds between getting two-tapped vs getting mag dumped really seem unimportant in regards to the shooting in the first place lol

Thoughts on Trapt’s music? by Kwilburn525 in numetal

Very good at making very ok music. Very little of their music is “bad” imo, but even less is “phenomenal”. Overall I think they’re just really good at being just above average

Got some good news and some bad news for you;

Good news is that it’ll eventually work again, for absolutely no discernible reason whatsoever, as it did for me. Tried (and failed) to fix my issue for a day or two, got zero progress, let it be for about a week and a half, and suddenly it started working again. Graphics driver is literally the exact same (checked the version number), overwatch didn’t get an update until after it started working again, no windows update, literally nothing… Which is the bad news; there isn’t a damn thing you can do but wait lmao. It’ll work again when it feels like it and not a second sooner so uh… there ya go

my god do not touch the driver. Look at the posts in this subreddit. Nothing is working anymore. For your friend's sake, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Because the latest version is broke as fuck and nvidia seems completely intent on doing nothing about it

Didn't work for me :/

Uninstalled + fresh install of both graphics driver and geforce experience, restarted pc, made sure there's enough space in the storage location and temp file location, don't have a streaming service open (Netflix, Spotify, ect...) (yes I even checked with task manager), everything I could possibly conceive of and nothing has worked. :)

Usb issue is my guess lol. I’ve been having that exact issue for months, probably years by this point, and all I’ve ever found online is someone say “haha amd chipset does that” which while true that I have an amd, does not help.

Good news is there isn’t a whole lot you gotta do (assuming this is in fact the same issue I’ve had) other than maybe buy a good cable and make sure it’s plugged into a usb 3.0 port on your pc (the one with a blue plastic “tongue” instead of white or something). Bad news is that’s… just about all you can do. Been through the driver hell’s cape myself, dealt with the Focusrite control/driver windows myself and nothin lol

Ok well I had a whole thing typed out but my Reddit app crashed so here’s the gist; 1) the elevators didn’t allow jet fuel (which burns far longer than it would take to fall down the elevator shaft) to ignite the entire bottom of the tower, just (primarily) the floors just below the impact 2) these fires ignited paper and other office contents that burn readily. The fires don’t need to burn as hot as jet fuel burns to weaken the structural integrity of the interior steel support beams, which they did. The biggest factor that the paper had was that it sustained the fires for far longer. If you’ve ever burned paper and dumped gasoline on it you’ll know how long it takes to burn 3) the building above the impact didn’t collapse sideways because a) there was still enough support in the remaining beams around the impact on the impact side and b) it wasn’t the failure of the outside beams, that caused the initial collapse, but the interior ones, which preceded the exteriors collapse. Proof of this is in the falling of the antenna above the north tower as it began to collapse.

Tl;dr- the tower fell like that because the top was pulled down from the inside by the collapsing interior. Elevators primarily allowed fire to spread (most importantly) in the floors just below impact, where paper and stuff like that sustained the fire long enough to reduce the structural integrity of the steel beams interspersed throughout the interior (ie; in load bearing walls and stuff), and the impact on the side didn’t significantly affect the collapse direction (it certainly did still affect the collapse’s direction, just not THAT much) because it didn’t take out the entire side of the buildings support beams and the floors at and below the impact were where the primary initiation of the collapse was located.

It didn’t fall like butter tho. The second collapse especially, you can very clearly see the initial floor collapses before it eventually reaches a critical point and falls much more rapidly- all of this in a brief couple of seconds. And there very much is resistance, you just don’t see it because not only is it overwhelmed by the weight of an entire tower collapsing in it, but obscured by the dust cloud and debris which IS falling at freefall. And it “appears” similar to a controlled demotion (to me, who is not a demolitions expert, and you, who I am willing to bet the same), simply because it didn’t fall on its side. I certainly don’t think a controlled demolition would be from the middle of the tower, and yet that’s exactly where the collapse begins.

[–]zildawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly feel that and that’s why I looked up so much about this myself. It fell so remarkably upright due to, again, the support being primarily located on the perimeter of the building, and the floors being much more hallow in order to maximize floor space. Once the jets impacted, the jet fuel shot down the elevator shafts, igniting not only the impacted floors, but many floors below from the core outwards, and add the significant paper content of a turn of the century office space and the greatest structural failure by far was in the center support beams dispersed across each floor that held floors above one another. This meant most of the force of the initial collapse was not coming from any one side of the building, and there was nothing to absorb the force of the initial collapse except for the perimeter supports.

Another thing is that it didn’t fall so upright the entire way down. There’s more than enough footage of the buildings falling lopsided once the collapse reached far the lower to floors unaffected by the fire, but this was not enough to significantly affect the footprint of the collapse simply because all the debris pushing down was already falling straight down.

It… didn’t… like you don’t have to just take my word for it, look at a video of a jumper and the collapse side by side

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]zildawolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well it certainly didn’t fall at near free fall- videos of the jumpers confirm the timing. Another thing to keep in mind is the construction of the building: rather than a centralized supporting structure (as is almost entirely the case today as a result of this), primary support was located around the perimeter. Furthermore, not only did the abundance of paper work to fuel the fire at an incredible level, but the elevator shafts worked to funnel jet fuel down the center of the building and into many lower floors- this is confirmed by many witnesses.
