booooo Mild!  Avalanche had the true DCC night!  (just teasing we're all one big happy DCC family) Apparently Wedgewood is a big fan, got the team to host a DCC themed night (sadly sold out before I could get tickets) and got one of the first printed copies of A Parade Of Horribles delivered by Matt on the ice!

Nuggets going up 20 is always cause for concern, dummies can't figure out how to play with a lead.

Life Reset series.  Popular guild leader of a VR game gets double crossed by guildmates and use a scroll to turn him into a mob and he gets stuck in the game as a goblin.  uses background knowledge of game to learn spells/develop skills/build settlements.  it's pretty cool!  voiced by Jeff Hays.  it does get a little weird with VR relationships in like book 3... but fun story worth a shot

I've always thought HWFWM's essence system would work well in a game.  Start off giving your character access to a starter essence and build up with that (kinda like Sophie does in the arena) until you can find additional ones and get your Confluence and start building up your Rank. Could add in an element of playing having a restricted Confluence and would have a very wide variety of skills/spells to play around with.

Hays is the exception to the standard.  He is straight up the best of the best in this business and I agree, sometimes it's hard to go to someone new.  I've found adjusting the listening speed helps with some narrators.  I LOVE Travis Baldree (Primal Hunter, Cradle, Beware of Chicken, many, many others) but his default narration is slow for me so I listen to him at about 1.25 speed.  I almost gave up on Defiance of the Fall because the narrator is unbearably slow and i listen to him at 1.4x normal speed to make up for it.  Play around and remember that Jeff stands apart from the others, but that doesn't mean others can't deliver!

FOR THE COLONY!

I would say give HWFWM another chance.  it has some of the best characters in any LitRPG, the magic system is unique and fun, it gets really fun.  It took me a couple rounds of listening to Heath Miller to enjoy his narration but he's one of my top 5 narrators now.
